Angry Discipline Needed For Coach As Well!!!
In order to be an effective coach at any level, you have to be able to handle the media in a manner that builds trust and unity in the organization. Tomlin's comments to a rather innocuous question leads me to believe that the lack of discipline stems from the top. Surely, as an alumnus of William and Mary, he is certainly bright enough to not be so self-centered. Tomlin should have represented his college and organization more professionally. Your job as a coach is to win over fans and to work as a team builder. Coach Cowher was the ultimate recipient of the players' coach label and I can't remember it ever being an issue. Maybe, one reason that the Steeler organization has not followed the trend to hire cheerleaders, is because some of the players are serving in that role. If being a players' coach is a negative perception in your mind (that you cannot control your players) then do something. Lastly, get control of yourself before your team follows. "Whatever It Takes" - in a professional manner
