FIRE CANADA!!!!!!!

Another thing about Canada's offense is any Joe Blow can run it. There is nothing to throwing passes behind or at the LOS. Canada completely removed the hurry-up/no-huddle. That article a couple of months ago with former players weighing in was priceless showing how bad it truly was with Canada. Without Ben this year, we maybe win 4 or 5 games, if that. My guess is we would have actually been fighting for the No. 1 pick in the draft.

That's definitely a possibility for this upcoming season as well.

Munchak isn't coming back........................ he knows the score

Salute the nation

This team always has a scapegoat to cover for the real fix that is needed.
This year there was 2!

And again, I don't think people realize how big of a deal this is. Neither Mike Tomlin NOR Keith Butler use playsheets while they are "calling the defense". They have NO ******* IDEA what play to call in what situation. All they're doing on defense is running 3 or 4 madden base-plays and hoping that T.J. or Minkah or Heyward make something amazeballs happen.

They don't have a ******* playsheet.

Right now the biggest problem is lack of talent. What returning starters is at least an average starter?

Offense: Harris, Freiermuth, Johnson. I feel like it's a stretch to put Claypool on here right now.

Defense: Heyward (Tuitt and Alualu if healthy and in the lineup), Watt, Highsmith, Schobert, Fitzpatrick

That is 8 of 22 starters (10 if you count Tuitt and Alualu). That number can jump to 10 (or 12) if they retain Edmunds and Witherspoon.

Ya, you lost me right there. 3 drops in the 1st half last night and at least 2 give-ups on routes. Dude was beyond useless last night.

He's at least an average starter, even with his drop issues.

For some reason I think they are going to keep him and see what he has with the personnel he prefers to run his offense.

But the drop issues kills drives. Helps leave points off the board. Not advocating getting rid of him but he shouldn't be the number 1 option. The whole WR group struggled. They need a new positional coach. And a number 1 WR added to the roster.

Canada being hired just shows how out of touch Tomlin and front office is.. that presnap motion bs is overblown. Last night the Steelers looked like a Chinese fire drill running before the snap and no one knew the plays!! Laurel and hardy would have been proud!! I guess I should say “keystone cops“ in keeping with the great state of Pennsylvania! Yes that’s the Matt Canada- Mike Tomlin offense “The Keystone cops” offense! Just a ”little” offense the first quarter might have been enough last nite but the team just collapsed it was embarrassing. lits Of that going on last few Tomlin years

I was yelling this at the TV last night and several times this season, Ben is out there pushing guys to where they need to be pre snap, like they have no clue. One play last night Dionte is just standing there looking into the lights like he's lost until Ben grabs him and pushes him to the other side of the formation.

I'm sure everyone has seen this stat by now, but this is the first time since 1967-71 that the Steelers have gone five years without a playoff victory. A lot will talk about Tomlin's "never had a losing record in the regular season." Who cares?

We don't win in the playoffs anymore. He started his career off 5-2 in the playoffs with two Super Bowl appearances in 4 years. Since then, Tomlin is 3-7 and his teams have allowed 42.75 PPG over their last four playoff games.

DK ripped Tomlin today and talked about his lazy internal hires. It's what we got with Fichtner, Canada, Sarrett, and Klemm. It's probably what we're going to get with Austin taking over for Butler if he actually retires. This team needs coaches from outside the organization. Legitimate offensive and defensive minds who won't do more of the same.
Spot on. I have been harking on this for awhile. We need some X and O assistants with experience. I wrote Mr. Rooney a respectful letter this morning. Not that he will give a **** but I did it anyways.😅 Anywho they aren't maximizing their earning potential bringing in scrub assistants. Mediocrity won't change without change. It just won't.

Mike Tomlin's entire career has been shored up with superstars making amazing plays that hide just how incompetent he is on both sides of the ball. Tomlin doesn't NEED to have a real NFL offense if he's got a 1st ballot H.O.F. QB who's in the top 10 all time or one of the most physically gifted receivers in a generation basically making something from nothing pretty much every ******* snap.

He and his "defensive coordinator" don't NEED to have a play sheets or know what the hell is going on defensively when T.J. Watt is giving him 20+ sacks a game, as well as pressures, forced fumbles and batted passes and Minkah Fitzpatrick is cleaning up trash in the middle of the field.

All he needs to do is sit on the sidelines with his sunglasses or his mask and stare vacantly at the field before he comes out to the press and repeats the same 30 or so broken phrases that make him sound vaguely like he has some idea what he's doing.

But mark this. Mike Tomlin has NEVER said truer words than "The Standard is the Standard." For Mike Tomlin, the standard just happens to be pretty ******* low.

Right now the standard is decision making and playoff futility.

Are the Rooney’s hiring?

*ahem*

Time to vist 3400 S water st and submit a resume. If hired I welcome all strategery

Even his ****** cut your eyelids bullshit pisses me off. You have no skill at teaching technique. No x and o advanced knowledge. In game decisions dubious. At least come up with original pre game bullshit you ****** hack.

That might have been in the 2nd half when Ben was drawing up the plays "in the dirt". I noticed that a lot at that point. I mean what are they supposed to do when the OC completely removes the no-huddle/hurry-up offense (totally different than the 2-minute offense that has limited plays) completely from a team.

Tomlin said that he didn't believe in gameplans. Maybe it makes sense that he was impressed with a college OC who doesn't believe in audibles. You just call the play and that's that.

I heard Charlie Batch on the radio today and he was saying that other football people he talked with said that Canada's scheme is just way too simple. The defense pretty much knows what's coming and there are no surprises. The jet sweep motion may confuse college kids but it's a joke in the NFL unless you have an actual good run game.

People bash James Franklin at PSU and he has his faults. But one area he excels is hiring assistants as evidenced by the fact that many of his assistants have been poached. After the 2020 season he fired his OC after just 1 season to bring in a better guy. Franklin always hires the best guy he can get and isn't afraid to make changes.

Tomlin needs to admit he was wrong with Canada. Everybody makes mistakes. Don't compound a mistake by doubling down

C'mon man. You know Tomlin didn't say he didn't believe in gameplans. He said that gameplans weren't important when the execution was/is poor.
I agree with your observations in your other paragraphs.

This… so much this… both Claypool and DJ are incredibly productive yet both are on the low side of target per catch percentage… dj is at 63%, which is on the low end for a #1wr… Claypool is at 56%…. Youd like claypool in the 60% and dj at the 70% range…

as I’ve said before, every single OC under Tomlin has run mostly the previous years plays with a few tweaks their first year here and then installed their preferred offense over the next one or two… true with Arians, Haley and fitchner… arians first year he basically ran whizs stuff with a few of his routes thrown in… fichner carbon copied haley his first year…

A lot of tge stuff KC just used on us was Canada stuff… we aren’t running any of that stuff yet… Which is why I think they won’t cut ties with him yet…

I also think the short of the sticks thing is definitely the head coach who wants more of haleys YAC offense despite teams playing us to guard against it the past couple years…

I'm sorry, outside of a jet sweep here or there, this offense looked no different than our offense looked the last few seasons with Fichtner, which clearly tells me Tomlin has a huge input in the offense too, hell he's even said that himself at one point during this season, that he has more than just an input in the offense.

Canada must go! Canada must go! Say it with me now! Canada must go!

I don't disagree at all, but it sucks knowing that we'll just bring in Tomlin's next puppet as the OC and it'll look the same.

It still ******* baffles my brain that we knew from KC's film and from playing them just a few weeks ago that they will be playing man coverage near the line. We knew they would have 9 men in the box. We even knew and saw on many occasions (I noted it during the game) that they were putting all 11 men in the ******* box (within 5 yards of the LOS). One play was a 3rd and 2. I just don't understand why after an 18 game season, Canada had nothing, absolutely ******* nothing, to try and beat that. As I stated during the game, drop Ben back 1 or 2 steps and lob it down the sidelines where only Claypool or even Muuth were one on one against their much shorter man with no safety help. I'm no football coach but wouldn't you think Canada would have had something in his arsenal for 9 men in the box and even 11 men in the box? This is going to bother me until he is fired. I know we might have complained about OC's in the past but Canada is the worst by a very long way.

That reminds me of the 2016/17 AFCCG at NE, they ran a flea flicker or something and Tomlin was asked in the presser about that play, and he said he hadn't seen that from them, but they just ran in 6 weeks prior vs Baltimore. Maybe he's not lying when he says game plans are irrelevant.

Yeah the guy doesn’t plan. It’s been evident for 10+ seasons.

Count me in the number in favor of this. Play calling was pretty awful all season.
