Cracks are starting to show from the players. TJ’s body language doesn’t lie.

Salute the nation

There's only so long you can tote the company line, if you desire something more. You know, like a superbowl championship.

If you're truly playing the game to win at the highest level, you should damn sure be upset with doing the same failing bs over and over.

They already tell the other team what they're doing on offense and defense because they NEVER change anything.

There's ZERO element of surprise.

They're like a small child who has never played chess going against a Grandmaster World Champion.

There's no amount of drafting that will fix that scenario.

I know this was in a post, but just seeing the video discussing how the Steelers haven't changed their defense. SMH.

I'm sure there are Steelers players that feel the same way about the coaching, but just hold their tongues and cash their checks.

We've been seeing the same schematic issues on the offensive side for years as well.

The lack of passing attempts over the middle of the field started in the 2020 season with Randy Fichtner at OC and Roethlisberger at QB, and has persisted through three different OCs and five or six different QBs

Tomlin has been the common variable through it all.

It's obvious the Steelers are never getting close to another Superbowl under Tomlin. Their futility in the playoffs over the past 14 years is ample evidence of that.

I honestly think Art2 knows it as well, but he has developed a strong relationship with Tomlin over the years and simply values that over winning championships at this point.

As long as the team just makes the playoffs somewhat consistently, putting themselves "in position" to win a title, Art2 can justify it to himself, while it becomes increasingly inexcusable to everyone else.

Tomlin not going anywhere and absolutely no coaching changes. That tells you Rooney didn't even gently warm his seat. He didn't even have to fire his buffer, Austin.

It's pretty obvious more people need to say it to help dispel the myth of having great coaches.

I'm trying to figure out the reasoning? Are they lazy? Arrogant? Incompetent? Tactical idiots? Or perhaps everyone is just content with the seats being sold and the cash flow in isn't being interrupted at all.

The Steeler fans around the country certainly boost sales on road games too. That's abundantly clear from the crowds in the stands.

I guess just giving the perception of being a team in the hunt is good enough to get the job done.

Heck, most under 25 years old wouldn't know what a championship Steeler team looks like anyway.

All they know is being mediocre and getting stomped round one in the playoffs.

It will continue to happen until they get off their *** and make the changes needed.

Which doesn't look like that will be occurring anytime soon.

Everyone is all fat&happy, the cash is flowing in and they get to walk by 6 old tarnished trophies built by the greatness of those long before them.
It's so bad it makes me not hate what's going to happen to the NFL/this country.

Boy it’s gonna be a long *** off season!
Well there’s free agency and the draft coming so there’s that.

I wish there was a way we could just stay in the draft and free agency.

😅

This is where I think they're at as well. It's beyond a performance-based professional relationship at this point and he'll allow Tomlin to walk away on his own terms. I also believe that's why they aren't making any big coaching moves. Last year there was some upheaval with the OC. If you follow that up by firing the DC, then there is legit pressure on Tomlin and ARII doesn't want that. Even with this opinion, I cannot understand why they won't hire a new OL coach. Talk about wasting their investment in big UFA signings and high draft picks.

The only sense I can make of it is that they largely attribute last year's OL performance to injuries.

It wasn't just Fautanu and Daniels, as Jones and Seumalo developed injuries before the season that may have never healed 100%

I think the issues go beyond that and believe a change at OL coach definitely should be made, but that could be how they view it.

Imagine this scenario: I/we keep hearing that Steelers players, etc. love Tomlin and think he's a great coach. What if he actually is a great coach and we've just had crappy players over the last decade or so and he's actually been able to coach them up to being an above 500 team each year.?

Now, I know this is probably not the case especially with recent insiders saying Tomlin actually has his hand firmly in the cookie jar when drafting and bringing FA's on board. It's something to think about...or not.

If that were true, we'd actually have won something with Ben, AB, and Bell and that Oline.

I think Cowher was that kind of coach, coaching a team with Neil and Kordell to 4 AFCCG's. Once he got Ben, he/we won 5 playoff games in 3 seasons, Tomlin has won 5 playoff games in the past what 16 seasons.

Players really have not been the Achilles heal.
Running the same plays and systems with different players has more to do with it

I agree. I was just throwing a very slim possible scenario out there since so many players come to Tomlin's defense.

Genuine question, even though it isn't happening who would be your chosen realistic replacement for Tomlin if he were to get fired?

Secondary was swiss cheese…I spent most of my time yelling at an out of position #25 Rudy Gay

Back then I blamed him for everything

If Art II wanted to follow the blueprint of Noll, Cowher and even Tomlin of first time HC from strong defensive background, Aaron Glenn would have been my choice this year.

I live in LI NY and Jets fans are very pleased. Also caught snippets of his introduction press conference and he was very articulate, well spoke and made it clear, he’s a no nonsense guy, that has one goal in mind (without it once being the franchise standard, ie. SB championships, ie. the team that plays in Pittsburgh).

Surely they realize by now it's not 1992 nor 2007 and they move to a more offensive paradigm next time around. Oh wait, they don't realize that now so no signs they will in 3 years when Tomlin's tires are down to the rim.
