First-pick.com - 2021 - and so it begins.

With the needs the Steelers have, if they take a RB in the first 3 rounds, it better be a clear upgrade to Conner. Right now, I‘d be on board with Williams, Etienne and Harris in Rd 2 and Carter in Rd 3.

I would put money on the fact that Etienne, Harris and Williams are ALL gone before pick 55. Also don't believe that either Etienne or Harris makes it past the 1st round.

Etienne's pro day showed him to be bigger than I had believed. I thought he was 5'9'', 200 lbs. but he measured at 5'10", 215 lbs. He is a similar size to guys like Dalvin Cook, Aaron Jones, James Robinson, David Montgomery - four of the top six rushers in the NFL in 2020.

I think Etienne is worth the 24th pick. Use #55 to get a very good LT prospect (Eichenberg, Cosmi, Radunz - somebody will fall), and #87 to get a C (Meinerz, Josh Myers). If Dickerson is still there at 87, run to the podium.

OL depth in this draft is a huge benefit to the Steelers this draft.

Had to trade a 2022 4th round pick to make this happen, but more and more I think the first three rounds make or break a team and damn, the Steelers need to address the QB position right the @#$% now.

24. Travis Etienne RB Clemson [Liking Etienne more and more. Big enough, lightning quick, plus receiver]

55. Baron Browning LB Ohio State [Can you imagine Bush and Baron in the middle, trying to outdo one another cuz Mich vs. OSU?]

87. Walker Little OT Stanford [True LT, starter at some point this season. Huge fella, 6'7", 320 lbs., good balance, good feet]

111. Davis Mills QB Stanford [Somebody is going to get a starting QB in the 3rd or 4th; how about the Steelers? Big, fast, plus-plus arm]

140. Jaylon Moore OT Western Michigan [6'4", 311 lbs., 3-year starter, 27 reps - took some snaps at C during pro-day]

216. JaCoby Stevens S LSU [6'1", 212 lbs., 40" vertical, 3-year starter in SEC. In reality no way he lasts this long, but mock]

245. Jonathon Cooper EDGE Ohio State [Played DE at OSU, looks like a 3-4 OLB, 6'3", 253 lbs., 4.69 40, 28 reps]

254. Ben Skowronek WR Notre Dame [A late-round flier. 6'3", 220 lb. WR, excellent hands, fights for ball in traffic]

Okay, had to give up Steelers 4th rounder in 2022 plus pick 128 to get Mills, but feel like excellent value. If Mills played this season, I have little doubt he would go no later than 2nd round 2022 draft. A combination of the ******-up Covid response in California and the incredibly deep QB pool this year makes him available.
I like your draft , don't know a lot about Moore. I was just thinking in what this draft provides that others didn't is teams might overdraft players due to players opting out. With a smaller pool of game tape to view reaching more creating other positions to have better depth. Then you have the not great at evaluating crowd that will let a player fall due to opt outs. So players that shouldn't be there normally could be available to a good drafting team. Especially mid to late rounds. Should really be fun to watch how it all unfolds.

Good points. I watched highlights of Moore (game vs. Toledo), and he has good balance, decent quickness. He is not going to be great in space, kinda like Big Al. He held up really well at the Senior Bowl practices against some decent defensive line prospects. Plays mean. Defenders spend a lot of time complaining about him.

I like it but would have snagged a pass rusher, we have a bare cupboard behind Highsmith and TJ. Moses what is he like a 4/3 type or an ILBER? Creed would Rocky our OLine into opening holes for Harris. Have to like that combo.

Nice draft. Prefer your other one with Dickerson in the 2nd, even given the need at CB. I think Stevens is a good fit for the Steelers, Hudson a guy who is going to be a LT starter in 2022. Also, Grimes in the 7th!!

We all know this draft site is fun but at times very unrealistic.
Quite a few times when it was time for The Steelers to pick I have had the option of taking Pitts or Farley.
So, forgoing our immediate needs which might be able to be addressed in the next rounds would you guys pick one of these top tier prospects?

Only a couple weeks away ........how will things play out for the Steelers
my latest draft.... small trade back with Cleveland still landed the OT in round 1 and got me a TE and DT of some quality in 3rd and 4th round

Round 1 Pick 26 (CLE): Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State (A)
Round 2 Pick 23: Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina (A)
Round 3 Pick 23: Quinn Meinerz, OG/C, Wisconsin-Whitewater (A)
Round 3 Pick 25 (CLE): Hunter Long, TE, Boston College (A+)
Round 4 Pick 5 (CLE): Marlon Tuipulotu, DT, USC (A+)
Round 4 Pick 23: Tylan Wallace, WR, Oklahoma State (A+)

You have to. You don't ignore top tier value. Unless..

There is a medical concern or character concern or athletically there is a warning sign.

Yep. If Pitts is available at 24, then for once I would support "running to the podium."

Though to be fair, if an NFC team was willing to deal a TON of draft capital to get him, then you have to think maybe. Just ... maybe.

pfn-logo-black

40. Travis Etienne RB Clemson [No explanation needed. Getting him at 40 a huge bonus]

55. Landon Dickerson OC Alabama [Self-explanatory. Great competitor, big, physical. Those big DT's in the North are going to hate this pick]

64. Walker Little OT Stanford [Injuries make him available at the end of the 2nd. First round abilities.]

71. Aaron Robinson CB UCF [Very good CB, good size, good tape]

128. Aaron Banks OG Notre Dame [Mauling run blocker]

140. Dayo Odeyingbo EDGE Vanderbilt [Torn achilles at Senior Bowl so throwing the dice here. Huge, big enough to play DE in the 3-4, very good pass rusher]

216. Joshua Kaindoh EDGE Florida State [All the tools, none of the performance. Yet ...]

245. Marlon Williams WR UCF [Spiderman hands. Catches everything]

254. Deommodore Lenoir CB Oregon [It's late. 12 PBU, 3 picks couple years ago]

Okay, for the "draft for today crowd" plus the "we need to re-stock" devotees, I present you the following.

pfn-logo-black

28. Jamin Davis LB Kentucky [Pairing him with Bush would almost be unfair. Almost]

55. Javonte Williams RB North Carolina [Just what the doctor ordered for the running game]

87. Quinn Meinerz OC Wisconsin-Whitewater [See above]

100. Davis Mills QB Stanford [Say hello to the 2022 Steelers QB]

128. James Hudson OT Cincinnati [Talent level high, toolbox full]

143. Adetokunbo Ogundeji EDGE Notre Dame [Pass rushing force. Slim, skinny even. Needs to bulk up to take on OT and stop the run]

166. Cole Van Lanen OT Wisconsin [The only school better at producing offensive linemen than Notre Dame is Wisconsin. Guy is going to be an excellent RT]

179. Nick Eubanks TE Michigan [Because or TE's suck]

192. Robert Hainsey OG Notre Dame [Played OT in college, better suited as G. What I said about ND offensive linemen ...]

202. Trevon Grimes WR Florida [Fast, decent hands, certainly worth pick in 6th]

So you ask, "How did you get so many of the top 150 picks in this awesome draft, besides being so awesome yourself?" Good question. Okay, maybe I traded the 2022 7th round pick. And 6th round. Aaaand 5th round.

But the comp picks cover those, this talent pool is too good and those later picks are not going to be as valuable as guys like Ogundeji, Van Lanen, and Hainsey.
