Flores suing the NFL, alleges racism in coaching hiring practices.

Soooo... Flores is just now understanding what the Rooney Rule does? He's mad they brought him in for an interview even though they wanted to hire Daboll.
Yes, Flores.. that is exactly how the Rooney Rule works. They need to satisfy bringing in a minority candidate whether they want to hire you or not and therefore, have total freedom to waste your time. Minorities wanted the rule, you got the rule. Goodluck on that lawsuit.

Wait, the Dolphins owner offered an extra $100K per loss to get the overall #1 pick??? How is that even remotely fair-play? NFL is rigged proof?
Should that get a fine or a forfeit of pick(s) ?

The rule helped him.get a head coaching job didn't it ? You interview for jobs you aren't going to get is a side benefit of the rule.

Actually Dan Rooney wanted that rule, and he hasn't been a minority since they stopped splitting Irish skulls for being Irish...

Tell that to the citizens of Rock Ridge 😉🤣

I have a feeling it's going to get more serious than that. When "allegations" are made that teams in the NFL are conducting sham interviews of minorities and an NFL owner is pressuring his coach to purposely lose a contest that the American public is wagering on, you can bet some members of congress are sharpening their swoards.

The NFL has been side stepping congressional investigations for ages, this is going to get interesting and the Roge is already sweating.

Berm will be waitin' and watchin'...

The head coach thing he has a point unless several head coaches are hired…

But like the defensive coordinator position its more murky… they conflate the percentage of black players with the percentage of qualified people for the various positions… if your population percentage is 14% and you have 34% of a position like DC in a league… that isn’t going to be a large argument for racism

Now do you know who organized football really ***** on race wise? Hispanics…

The NFL is hugely popular among Hispanics, yet they are less likely to get scholarships from football and despite having a larger percentage of the country’s makeup, have less than 1% of the leagues players and similarly crappy representation among coaches…

I never understood the nfl and really most of the non baseball NA sports ignoring of asians and hispanics. Its idiotic… thats a huge talent pool for both players and strategic positions like HC and Coordinators that’s being ignored…

The 200k per loss part is gonna blow the top off the NFL. The owner should lose his franchise of there is supporting evidence of that. Same with the tampering piece.

but those are things that also didn’t actually happen. Flores is saying the owner told him to do it. What if the owner says he talked about it and Flores told him it was against the rules so Ross said Ok forget it.

I read some things from dolphin fans saying that Flores was not well liked. He basically did not even speak with his assistant coaches for the last half of the season. coincidentally when the dolphins started winning.

It sounds like the Giants, Broncos, and Dolphins are all confidently denying these allegations. We'll see if there is anything of substance to this. At the end of the day, the burden of proof will be on Flores to prove what he is alleging.

One of my biggest grievances with the Rooney Rule is that it opens the door to these type of accusations. It's easy to say that the NFL is rife with racism, but realistically, I believe most owners just want the best candidate that is available to them. If they have an idea of who that top candidate is, but to satisfy a policy are forced to conduct interviews with candidates who they believe to be less qualified, that owner is being put in a difficult and unnecessary position because of this rule, especially in today's climate.

In the lawsuit, Flores alleges he was interviewed to be the head coach of the Denver Broncos in 2019 just to fulfill the "Rooney Rule" — which requires teams to interview diverse candidates for open positions.

"The Broncos' then-General Manager, John Elway, President, and Chief Executive Officer Joe Ellis and others, showed up an hour late to the interview," the lawsuit alleges. "They looked completely disheveled, and it was obvious that they had [been] drinking heavily the night before."

Flores said that it was "clear from the substance of the interview" that the Broncos "never had any intention to consider him as a legitimate candidate for the job," according to the lawsuit.

Just "how" does the Rooney Rule open the door for 'these type of accusations'??? Take you time - you got some 'splainin' to do...

My point and sorry I said 200 k it was 100k. Is that if he has substantial proof like text messages. If he has just private conversations that is hearsay. I think everyone knew and knows that the Rooney rule was going to lead to token interviews. I would argue that by getting those token interviews you could be more prepared for the ones that you are really in the running for. If the Rooney rule was supposed to promote hiring of minority candidates it has clearly failed.

Oh, I knew what you were talking about Sask. Apologies, if I wasn't clear.

I directed my query to the new open vagina, who decided to poke the bear...

I have no idea why someone would come to this message board and bring that jaggoff ****. If you want to be here for a while and mix it up sometimes. Cool. But this man in the arena type person. Like get the **** out of here.

So you have the Rooney rule to give minorities a chance at the jobs , and reflect the percentage of minorities in the country say 20%. The other 80% being white.
‘When will the have a white boy rule and make the percentage of players the same as in the country ? What about the NBA ? Damn that league must be racist , 80 % of it by my guess is Black. Shouldn’t they be adding a bunch of white boys to the teams. If your gonna have it one way you should have it both ways.
