For those who need a reminder & for those who never knew

They're not even on the same planet. Noll&staff turned a team that had never won anything and built the greatest football team ever assembled.

Cowher and Tomlin just got to steer that ship after it was built.

Now it's sitting on the bottom of the ocean.
Something Cowher doesn't quite get enough credit for is turning over the roster multiple times and turning them into Super Bowl contenders multiple times. Like over half the starters in Super Bowl 30 weren't starters when he took over in 1992, then it's similar to 1997, alot of new starters compared to 1995, then onto 2001 alot of new starters compared to1997, then 2005, alot of new starters compared to 2001.
Now you look at Tomlin, as the players there we already here when he took over began to age and retire/slow down this team has dropped off a cliff.

Every stretch of Chuck Noll’s career is greater than Mike Tomlin’s.

Could you imagine Tomlin coaching in Chuck’s era of toughness and grit, instead of his current soft / undisciplined era.

Salute the nation

Even the 80’s brought 4 playoff seasons. Going 2-4 in 6 playoff games played.

Notable is that the Steelers in the 80’s outperformed both the Browns and the Bengals in any decade since 1990. ( excluding this decade)

I think it's pretty clear that Tomlin can't build or rebuild a team. That's why they've brought in so many free agents and has been players.

Thank you @Drink IRON City Probably my all time favorite HOF speech from a Steeler. Once in a while even in today’s game special people come along that just “get it”. I don’t think we have any right now that do. Closest would be 97, but the ugly business side reared its head again this summer when it shouldn’t have. We need a reset badly and ripping the bandaid off is best way to do it. It’s time Rooney family. This is not fun and the “there’s always next year” doesn’t ring true for 99% of us anymore.
