FordFairLane’s 2022 BigBoard

nice! I was reading this:

reading between the lines, but not really, Labriola believes Pickett is the #1 QB in the draft:

I do agree with you that Strong may very well be the top QB in the draft - at this point. It's also possible that Corral can mature and be the best QB in the draft. I like Pickett, but he reminds me of Garoppolo - in fact I believe Jimmy G is his ceiling.
Big concern with Strong is he isn't very accurate when the pocket breaks down and he has to move. There is some talk that Corral is a RPO only QB. Not necessarily a bad thing if that's all you want to do on offense, it just limits him if that's the case.

I got see strong more than I wanted. my niece‘s son plays for the Wolfpack… I was hoping he would have picked USC or ucla as he grew up in socal but he felt he’d get more playing time in Reno. strong has real problems with rush, I’m no qb expert, but he has zero footwork. They play a run n shoot kinda offense that doesn’t have much structure so it’s kind of hard to judge. it’s an offense that doesn’t ask much of the qb other than throw the ball around. he truly doesn’t fit the “mobile” qb projection of art jr. Actually kind of reminds me of Rudy... With poor footwork. But very strong arm, big, hard to bring down but as to reading defenses, going through his progressions and “things of this nature” it’s hard to know in that offense. foot speed will be a problem.

Do we know what the hell our offense is ? I think every offense in the NFL has some RPO in it but what are we the best at and what would our offense be designated as ? NOT directed to you personally 448 but it's a legitimite question for our team to answer.

currently I want to wait on QB and stud up the trenches.

We messed up last year by not taking Humphreys, spilt milk i know but

This offense hasn't had a true philosophy in a long time. They talked like they wanted to be a power run team but have five guys who play soft up front.

That's exactly my point. Until an offensive identity is established it's hard to draft guys to fit it.................. including QB. Thanks for your input 448

I think part will depend on if they go outside for a QB which I think they will. Rudy would get demolished with the current Oline and with shifting parts they should get a more mobile QB which Canada supposibly prefers. They can talk a good talk but I think the FO knows the direction they prefer to go. They just aren't sure what will be available. Chances are a franchise won't be under center game 1. So keeping that in mind perhaps a philosophy like Tennessee runs would benefit the Steelers. Take some pressure off the QB. They will have to hit free agency and the draft hard to run it... (Refurbish the Oline)

Question. After the Senior Bowl Performance, is Diego *****, ILB, Navy. A Good prospect,,? What round.?
He's got the size for our Buck.

Once upon a time I would object at bringing in a ***** from the Navy. But who am I to judge what they do on their time.😁

so are you against all military ****** or just the Navy ones?
Just the navy ones.😅 Nah I like other branches too. Ex army so I am obligated to give the other branches a hard time. Have a difficult time giving the Marines a hard time as I wanted to be one and almost was. (bad timing)

Great minds thin alike

We have the horse to run run run. I'm definately in the "want trench warfare mataerial" boat. Establish the line(s) and our identity will take care of itself,.................... pending on OC / HC mettling the square peg round hole syndone.

I’d love your feedback on Trevor Penning when you get around to the OLine guys

6’2
230lbs ILB Channing Tindall.
Projected to be available and would be an upgrade over Bush.

+play recognition, let’s the play develop then he attacks - patient defender

-probably over pursues a bit. The patience he displays sometimes backfires into him trying to make up ground

strong at least yesterday did show his ability to move in the pocket and that all i was looking for. i would take him round 2-3 but if the pass then it Kelly for me in round 6

My cousin in the marines jokes about the navy. He says 20 people go in. 10 couples come out

I think every branch jokes on each other a little. But when the chips are down everyone is for each other.

Here is a tentative first-round "big board" I'm considering right now. I removed some of the names expect to be gone. I put a * next to the guy I'd probably pick if forced to take a player from that position.

Quarterback
Kenny Pickett
Malik Willis
Desmond Ridder
-I'm not particularly intrigued by any of the QBs, but figured the Steelers will have first-round grades on QBs. Pickett is the most pro ready, Willis may have the best raw arm talent. Ridder is a bit of a wild card because he has a lot of great traits, just needs to put it all together to deliver on a weekly basis.

Wide Receiver
Jameson Williams
Drake London
Chris Olave
-As I saw it termed recently, the Steelers need an alpha receiver. Look at the top teams this year: Packers (Adams), Titans (Brown), Rams (Kupp and Beckham), Chiefs (Hill), Bucs (Godwin and Evans), Bengals (Chase), Cowboys (Lamb), Bills (Digs), etc. Top teams have dominant targets. I think most are gone by the time we are up, but if Williams falls due to his injury I am making everyone regret they passed on him.

Offensive Line
Cross
Green
Linderbaum
Johnson?
-With the top tackles likely gone, there really aren't a lot of first-round guys I'd feel good with. Cross is either ranked as a top-10 guy or around 20ish. Green is multi-dimensional but would add an athletic guard. Seems like a guy to build around. Linderbaum is a clean prospect, technically sound. Would the Steelers draft two undersized centers in a row? Johnson seems to be moving up draft boards and not sure he's there in the second. I still fee like he'd be a reach, but a guy I'd feel good with on my team.

Defensive Line
Jordan Davis
-I understand he doesn't offer much in terms of pass rush, but he is a true space eater. Heyward, Alualu, Loudermilk, and Davis is something to build on.

ILB
Devin Lloyd
Nakobe Dean
-Lloyd should go top 15, if not, he'll be under consideration. Dean is super talented, just not thrilled at the idea of taking another undersized ILB.

Cornerback
Trent McDuffie
Ahmad Gardner
Andrew Booth
Kaiir Elam
Roger McCreary
-The corner market is tough to read. A ton of talent with no consensus on the rankings. It's also a position where a run on the top talent could take these guys off the board real quick..

Safety
Jalen Pitre
-A little early for him, he's an intriguing prospect.

As far as potentially realistic options, here are my top 5 as of 2/7:

1. Jameson Williams
2. Kenyon Green
3. Andrew Booth
4. Jordan Davis
5. Tyler Linderbaum

I think the combine will help define some of that CB clutter. Ikem Ekwonu is a strong 1 option. If you would tell me I could have Davis, Linderbaum, or Ekwonu I would leave the first round happy. J. Williams obviously too

Thanks for your thoughts.

One of the things that I noticed on his NFL Draft Profile was the below quote:

"How does a player with this kind of talent catch only 15 balls at Ohio State? That's the question our coaches are going to ask when they get involved." -- Pro personnel director for AFC team
What do you think?

Last year was suppose to be an exceptional QB draft and look at the QB ratings of those first rounders who played:
Lawrence 71.9
Wilson 69.7
Fields 73.2
Jones 92.5

Ben had a 98.1 his rookie year. These QB's could still make it, but the QB position is really a crap shoot with the NFL being nothing like college ball.
Wouldn't surprise me if more make it from this mediocre class than make it from the exceptional.

I'm assuming Ekwonu won't be available. A lot of teams need OT help and it's a relatively thin at the top of this year's draft. I could see Philadelphia going with Linderbaum assuming Kelce retires.
Thanks for your thoughts.

What do you think?
Ohio State had two studs on top of the depth chart and another 3-4 guys with elite talent. I just think it was the case of a crowded wide receiver room and he wanted to go to a place with a defined role.

I will get **** on for this but Mason in his first starts has a better rating than these guys. /ducks
