I love how haters want to call him a terrible clock manager with ZERO examples. Sure he's not 100% perfect, but he's one of the best I've ever seen at situational football. It's why the Steelers are the top team at winning 1 score games over the past decade, and that included an aging Ben, KP, Trubisky, Duck, Rudolph, Wilson, Fields, and now Rogers. So either Tomlin is the luckiest coach ever in NFL history, or maybe, just maybe he knows what he's doing to win us close games?

You're normally a fairly reasonable poster, but this is one of the most irrational statements I think I've ever read on this site, and that's saying something.

First of all, I could go through just the 2024 season alone, and give you dozens of examples of bad clock management and poor situational decision-making. There's a couple, if not five or six, every week. Tell me, wasting that timeout after one of his own players was injured...please, oh please, explain to me how that was good clock management.

The Steelers have won a lot of one score games over the past few years because Tomlin likes to limit the chances his offense takes, and this leads to close games. It has not a damn thing to do with the guy being some sort of wizard at situational football, Sure, this philosophy has been effective for him during the regular season against the league as a whole, but clearly, as evidenced by quality teams ripping him a new asshoIe time and time again in the playoffs, the efficacy of this strategy has no lasting merit.

yeah, you definitely have reading and comprehension skills. The purpose of my bringing up the San Diego rookie was to point out the fact that football IQ has to play a part in how these players react in pressure situations, and that some things should be blatantly obvious w/o having to have a coach in your ear to tell you about it beforehand.

That being said if he wasnt assigned that either means they thought the bootleg would go away from Watt or somebody blew their assignment on his side of the ball, otherwise maybe you can fill us in on what the defensive play call was and who was responsible for who??

Comparing a rookie mistakenly running out of bounds in his very first NFL game to a 9-year veteran and former defensive player of the year supposedly intentionally ignoring an imaginary assignment to the QB in a goal line situation is simply asinine. And whatever the defensive play call was, it didn't involve Watt containing the edge, which it clearly should have.

BTW, San Diego hasn't had an NFL franchise for almost ten years, brainiac.

Ummm...the likelihood of a 60-yard field goal being successful (and giving your beloved MT another close regular season win) is a whole lot less than a 20 yarder would be...but I wouldn't expect you to understand probability and statistics, either.
