Game Day Thread - Steelers vs. Ravens Part II

Man years ago a loss lke this would have shut me down for several days. no ESPN, wouldnt come on here. not online very much just in case something pops up regarding the Steelers.

Knowadays I am good a few minutes after. Football is just not as important anymore. the wins do not excite as much, and the losses do not hurt as much.
You're fully conditioned to it. For me it's like watching the same scenario over and over again. Limp or fall into playoffs and get destroyed. Rinse&repeat.

So far it's setting up for the seasonal grand finale of failure right on cue.
No I dont think so. Football is just not that important. it is a game. just a game. it took me 50+ years to figure that out

Yep. It took me a long time, too. And I can't blame on the lack of success as of late. That has nothing to do with it. It's just getting older. My granddaughter turned 1 today. She doesn't care about Steeler football! But we had a party and I set up an old train for her, Pappy is a pretty cool guy...you know how it is. How can you get all mad after that?

Of course it's just a game, it's actually more entertainment than genuine sport for me. Too much nonsense for me to legitimize it too much. I can thank the pats**** and the refs slanting games for that clarity.
Speaking of pats*****? I rather gargle broken glass than listen to Tom Brady call our games and tell us how stupid we are. Which he should know well slicing them up like a butcher.

I only watch it for the prospect of them winning a championship or atleast knocking on the door to one. That thought is long, long gone.

Our record says I am right, if healthy. People have to make excuses to say otherwise. Without Pickens and our Secondary then I am not so optimistic.
I explicitly referred to the injuries as a reason that I’m wondering if the Steelers win another game to which you replied that you think they beat the Chiefs and Ravens.

I still think we beat them. The Bengals likely will be out of it and the Chiefs may have clinched or be all but assured of it. I also like our chances at home on a short week. I always like our chances against the Bengals or Browns the last week of a season. Even with Mason or Landry starting.

It’ll be the Bengals Super Bowl and the Bills would need to lose to the Patriots tomorrow for the Chiefs to clinch. I’m betting we’re rooting hard for the Texans on Christmas afternoon.

So, the Steelers go from possibly winning the division and pretty much locking in the #3 seed to potentially losing the division and a playoff home game and becoming the last wild card seed.
One and done looking very possible again. I had high hopes at the beginning of the season too.

Folding like a Tomlin team in the first round of the playoffs
Folding like a Tomlin team that got their nine wins and has a playoff spot locked up.

They’ve won and lost to the Rats, lose tie breaker on point differential tho
The Steelers hold the tie breaker over the Ravens as the Steelers have the better conference record.

The only way the Ravens can hold the tiebreaker over the Steelers is if Ravens beat the Browns and Steelers lose to Bengals. Ravens would hold the tiebreaker on division record (unlikely that a tiebreaker would be needed in that scenario though as Ravens likely will have a better win-loss record anyway).

Its beyond embarrasing at this point. Brady beat us for years and now we have to listen to him call our late season losses. Turn the page on this dumpster fire already.

It isn’t even a game anymore, it is entertainment. Exactly like “Professional” wrestling. Once you realize that, it makes the official’s influence on the game and coaches acceptance that much easier to see.

Was talking about the Steelers head to head (with another poster) vs playoff teams, nothing more…and how it’s not as great as he was shining it up to be

Not referring to actual tiebreakers towards playoff seeding which we all know are irrelevant as this squad is equally capable of losing at home or on the road if it’s a playoff game…it’s almost a guarantee

But speaking to your point of actual seeding don’t sell the Steelers short, they are perfectly capable of uncorking a 5 game losing streak to end the season including a loss to the Bungles

The next loss will be ez as will the first round playoff loss, the only harder loss in the 5 game streak will be out bungling the Bungles

I can see us losing out the rest of the way. Then getting thumped in the playoffs. Some here will put the blame on coaching. Others will point to injuries. Wonder how Rooney will view it all?

We already had a playoff preview when they played a playoff caliber team in the Eagles.

Has anybody coached 18 years and never not once secured HFA in the playoffs?

Hope I am wrong, but I see Mahomes dinking and dunking across the middle at will against us, like Brady did for so many years. If we failed in two attempts to expose one of the bottom 3 pass defenses in the league, I can't see us breaking out vs. the Chief's D.

It's another L. They are playing for the 1 seed and arent going to waste their Christmas day messing around with a Wildcard outfit.

Porter questionable but Tomlick thinks "he might have a hard time getting ready to play".

Well, Ive let some time go by since the loss. Watched Philly lose to WAS even though Jayden Daniels threw 5 picks. WOW!

I posted during the game that all week leading up to SAT, I heard on PIT sports talk radio--mainly 93.7 FAN-- that PIT lives in BAL's head rent free. I heard that Tomlin just knows how to dominate Harbaugh as evidenced by winning 8 of the last 9 games vs the Ravens. And all I could think of was how all this talk was basically ensuring that BAL was going to play well and whip the stew out of PIT, and that is exactly what happened. I know PIT had won 8 of last 9 vs BAL, but I had noted that the Ravens had dropped an inordinate number of passes in at least one of those losses. The 18-16 PIT win earlier this year was facilitated by JTucker missing at least 2 FGs. Lets be honest, BAL should have won the game in PIT.

If there is a silver lining to the loss in BAL, for me its that IF we had won that game and then ended up facing BAL in the playoffs, the odds of PIT beating BAL 3 straight times in the same year would be very long. Beating a team 3 times in a season is just hard, especially if that team is BAL. Now, PIT simply needs to win 2 home games and we win the division. I dont know how that effects home field or anything like that, but I just know that I would not want to face BAL having beaten them the previous 2 times this season. I think you could automatically write that up as a loss. Steelers need to get GP back and win a home game vs KC and then beat the Bengals and finish 12-5 and let the chips fall where they may.

Understand completely driver...

I was actually in Baltimore riding on the Polar Express at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore with my 2 granddaughters as the game was being played...

I could see the Stadium from the museum parking lot....

And you know what, I think I wondered about the game one time during the Polar Express train ride event!
What a night just to see my granddaughters faces and listen to them chatter on the 2 hour ride home to the Delaware coast afterwards, and hearing about their time on the Polar Express...

That was worth so much more than just another Steeler game.
It was a great night and it certainly overshadowed a poor Steeler showing
