Glad Tomlin isn't my doctor

I hope this was supposed to be some kinda metaphor stuff or sumphtin' 'cause there ain't no stinkin' basements in Tampa.

Maybe he was turning over stones?

A football player graduating from William and Mary is no great achievement. He couldn't have gotten into the school without being an athlete. If you think being a head coach or coordinator takes above average intelligence you are mistaken. Missing the playoffs 3 times in 7 years with a franchise QB in his prime, the greatest DC of all time running a defense that has been a number 1 for most of his tenure is a truer abilities. If not for the Rooney Rule he would not be our head coach, taking a guy with his wafer thin resume and handing over one of the greatest franchises in the NFL to this neophyte was ridiculous and the way we have gotten progressively worse under his tenure is a direct reflection on him. But hey he wears those cool shades and spews all those verbal non sequiturs so he must be smart.

like him or not.. this **** with McClendon,,, and Shazier is bullshit.

uh, so what? Not sure what the difference means. We still have incomplete information; we would lack information regardless of whether or not we knew the exact nature of each injury.

Must not be many hockey fans then, now that is where ya find cryptic injury reports

What?

more what? IM talking about the fact McClendon has said he is not injured and to talk with Tomlin. Also regarding shazier, If the guy has a knee bruise,, why not just say it.. If he has a sprain just say it.. if he tore his miniiscus,, say it.. why does he feel
he needs to say boo boo.... and act condescending? Its not like its game week and we are hiding Rothlisbergers injury so the other team doenst know what to prepare for.

I think everyone knows here that I am not the biggest Tomlin fan but in this case I will say I rather him be cautious with Shazier and hold him out a preseason game or two rather than rush him back. A "boo boo" in preseason and a "boo boo" in the regular season are two much different things. In the preseason you hold them out of games and practice but in the regular season who knows maybe he would play.

at least if we keep the playing field level and use the same criteria to judge his candidacy that is used to judge Tomlin unworthy of getting the job in the first place

Why the **** would you want to do that?

What?

The Steelers, like any other team, are simply going to do what they feel is best for their team, regardless of the verbiage around it. I don't know why Tomlin says what he does, and why he says it like he does, but I do know that the content of his words are unlikely to match the reality of the team's internal injury considerations because he is simply making a media show. If he said nothing, then the result at game time would still be the same; ergo it doesn't matter what he says to the media.

There seems to be little gain in getting enervated about his injury comments.

It's the preseason. Tomlin is just warming up his game, if you will, for the regular season pressers, obviously.

He has a boo boo which = Not serious. Nothing long term. Something that can linger by practicing. So we are going to hold him out til he is better because the objective is to be ready Sept 7 not Aug 9.

I was going to read the entire thread before posting...but the revelation stopped me in my tracks.

Franco, tell me, do you only look at the negative points in one's life when providing your performance appraisal???

(you guys thought I was gonna say something else, huh :p)

This is how I interpreted his statement.

maybe for heyward bey he should have said,, " he just got his bell rung" ,,, maybe for Zumwalt he should say his peepee got yanked... (groin injury) ,,, the semantics arent thepoint.. its why and when he is using them.. or if there is even an injury.

McClendon has been out of practice for days and said he isn't injured that we need to ask tomlin why he isn't practicing...

My enervations about tomlin are my own. I think this crap with McClendon and shaziers is unnecessary and glib.

You are probably correct; but it doesn't really matter. Maybe McClendon got caught throwing food in the cafeteria? What will be, will be.....can't wait until it is time to unleash hell!

he could/should just say "shazier has a knee contusion, he will be out a few days".... viola!

Why to satisfy who? The media the fans. Any other time if someone says they have a boo boo you dont think its serious. Whats the difference now.

found this.
Speculation has been rampant on why nose tackle Steve McLendon sat out of the last three practices – one of which he wasn’t even on the sidelines watching.

From Mike Tomlin wanting to get a good look at rookie Stephon Tuitt to McLendon being in Tomlin’s doghouse have been floated around as reasons why McLendon has been out.

The speculations have been warranted.

After all, Tomlin never gave a reason of why McLendon wasn’t practicing and McLendon told me early Wednesday that: “I’m OK. It’s Coach Tomlin’s call. It’s up to him. It’s his call.”

Turns out the reason why McLendon hasn’t practiced since Friday night is because he is dealing with a concussion.

I understand the results are the same.. He just seems to make a point of being glib about certain players at certain times for no reason.

I just think he takes a page out of the Hoodie's playbook and doesnt like to reveal injuries. I just find it comical one is considered a genius and the other stupid.

it IS stupid.. It's preseason.. Its not like were playing the Ravens this week. That's what im sayin.. He isn't hiding zumwalt or mitchells injuries...

ill shut up about this now.

I don't care about whether he withholds injury information. That is his prerogative. I just think he tends to think before he has facts and tends to downplay **** too much. Just say the guy hurt his knee, we are monitoring, but don't believe it is serious. It was the same with Ben a couple years back. Just explain the injury briefly and say it will be monitored.

I don't pay a lot of attention to the Pats* but I've heard that Tom Brady has been listed as "questionable" or "probable" for every game for the past 7 years except for the season he spent on IR.
