The good: He posed and smiled nicely for a picture with my 2 sons at training camp
The bad: Erry-damn-thing-else
The bad: Erry-damn-thing-else
I think this sums it up.Win some playoff games.
How about the defense this year? The one thing Tomlin does talk about is splash plays, yet here we are.
No TJ means less or no pressure.
Let's not overlook that fact - Coach Tomlin cannot predict injuries - NO ONE can...
Its one of a few things… either he doesn’t think its an issue…Tomlin said the ball was going where it was supposed to, but blamed the D for not keeping a lid on it. I was pretty confident Canada would be fired, but hearing tomlins presser and the refusal to acknowledge the offensive scheme is worrisome
While that is bad based on Steelers expectations, that actually is extremely above average for a 6 teams per conference making the playoffs and 16 team conference format… if you assume that teams were only expected to make the playoffs at a .375 clip, tgat would be 5.65 playoff appearances… let’s round it up to six, but he would only be expected to win a playoff game in a season like 3 times… his afc cg appearances is higher than expected and the super bowl wins and appearances is also solid in what is expected ….
How educated he is off the field isn't translating to how well he manages games on the field. His color should not factor in on any decisional processes in anyone's heads. The only thing that matters is final outcomes. Even lower expectation dumbing down outcomes from SB victories to just playoff wins he fails the eye test. You want Canada gone, but are giving other coaches passes. Undeservedly so.I think this sums it up.
Coach Tomlin is an educated Black man and that makes me proud. His record speaks for itself but...
Getting the Ws in the playoffs is what matters.
The man controlled, for the most part, the craziest player to ever hit the field in AB.
He's a keeper for at least 2 more years...
That's not what Berm was saying, sorry Berm if I'm misspeaking, but i feel that he was merely pointing out that coach T is a beacon for potential and a role model for others on what is achievable. Out of 32 teams there are only 3 black coaches and since 1989 there have been 191 head coaches and only 24 of them were black. In the NCAA FBS only 15 of the 131 teams have a black head coach, and none of them are in the SEC which is considered to be the best conference in football by many. I'm not a fan of Mike Tomlin and I'm a staunch critic of James Franklin and his mismanagement of big games, but I also understand the significance of their position as they relate to a race that feels misrepresented and under-represented. The NFL players are comprised of 60% black and only 9% are head coaches? It's not about color and qualification as you correctly pointed out, as Mike Tomlin isn't getting the job done. But people shouldn't discount the significance of their positions and how much it means to people of color. How educated he is off the field isn't translating to how well he manages games on the field. Nothing the man has done postage stamps two more years. Not if you are factoring in why the game is played.
I want to be proud of the black, white, orange, purple, aqua man that swims our team back to playoff wins and ultimately competing for championships. Nevermind on the lowest level capable of less blowouts, keeping games more competitive against the elite teams.
Sorry Tomlin is not that man no way shape or form.
I guess I hold out for the day that skin pigmentation isn't a topic. All gods creatures are equal in his eyes and in mine. That's not what Berm was saying, sorry Berm if I'm misspeaking, but i feel that he was merely pointing out that coach T is a beacon for potential and a role model for others on what is achievable. Shades isn't going anywhere until his contract is up and don't be surprised if Deuce gives him an extension.Besides I read somewhere a player corrected someone on Twitter I think l that he isn't a good black coach he is a good coach. As you categorize him you are limiting him ..his success.
Regardless it is time for a new chapter not two years from now. Unfortunately it probably will be two years from now if that.
That is fair. Not sure I could step away from my addiction. But I can definitely understand anyone who could. Ol girl did the same with the Pirates. She was a habitual follower. So many games ugh lol.Shades isn't going anywhere until his contract is up and don't be surprised if Deuce gives him an extension.
And if that happens without any improvement, my fandom is seriously going on the back burner and I'm going to have to learn more about hockey.
I'm not being bandwagon but like the Pirates, if a team doesn't try to get better then they are not deserving of fan support.
Well is not like they can bring Maxx Crosby, I think Reed was a good pick given his cost and stats from previous seasons. So it hasn't panned out but I was fine with the signing for depthTJ goes down game 1. NEXT MAN UP !!!! errrr,, yah were bringing in Malik Reed....
Well said Slash! No one disputes his education from the prestigious College of William & Mary. How educated he is off the field isn't translating to how well he manages games on the field. But that is a highly known, your comments. At this point everyone is well versed on Tomlin.. well versed on his accomplishments and not so shiny moments. But there is nothing supporting your want for two more years. Not understanding why you can see someone else's viewpoint but not see any of mine. I have been fair in my assessment. I know people have seen me adjust my viewpoints as needed. But I think when a man or woman locks themselves into a viewpoint it doesn't leave room for growth.Thank you.

First time I seen that from you fair enough. Now what about the D? No improvement with Watt back bye bye Austin?I appreciate the feedback and I do value your opinions.
Here's my logic for the two years:
1. New QB will need 2 years to prove himself
2. New OC will need at least an offseason to rewrite the crap we have on the whiteboard
3. New OL will need a season to gel
So, there you have it - two years and if nothing improves - bye bye Coach Tomlin.
His Vikings defense had the unusual distinction of being #1 against the run and #32 against the pass.He came with one year experience as defensive coordinator in Minnesota and was ranked near the bottom. Most of his experience came from DB coach with the Bucs.
And I always remind the Tomlin fanbois that the year after he won a Super Bowl they went 9-7..Critics always say that the 2006 team was 8-8 but they fail to mention Ben was coming off a near fatal motorcycle accident and an emergency appendectomy. Ben certainly was not healthy that year and the team suffered. Just reminding the Tomlin supporters that the team played with a QB that wasn’t fully healthy in 2006 thus the 8-8 record.
No sensible team owner will fire a coach with 16 straight win...err...non-losing seasons just because he had one losing season. Especially the Steelers.Tomlin should not be here for two more years.Time to move on after this season or we can expect the same **** next year.
I don’t think he gets fired after this season either but I do think this mess really doesn’t start to get cleaned up until he’s gone. His Vikings defense had the unusual distinction of being #1 against the run and #32 against the pass.
And I always remind the Tomlin fanbois that the year after he won a Super Bowl they went 9-7.
One game better than Coach Chin. Yeeeehaaaawww!!! Boom chukka lukka, boom chukka lukka, boom chukka lukka lukka boom.

Shades will be here until his contract expires, at minimum. Two more years I think, so whatever suckage we get, we get.
IMO he has a huge ego and is extremely stubborn. The greater the calls to fire Canaduh, the more resolved Shades will be to keep him at least until the season is over.
You're not the boss of me.
I'm sure he hears that he won his Super Bowls with Cowher's team (true) and gets pissed that he hasn't won with his team and staff and doesn't want to leave until he does. He will need at least two more years to realize that that isn't going to happen and the longer he stays the more he tarnishes his legacy.
The defense needs another validated pass rusher. Losing Watt hurt(s) and guys like that don't grow on trees.First time I seen that from you fair enough. Now what about the D? No improvement with Watt back bye bye Austin?
Agreed.I don’t think he gets fired after this season either but I do think this mess really doesn’t start to get cleaned up until he’s gone.
And it’s 15 not 16 non losing seasons and that was mostly do to Ben.
