Governor Pritzker and Mayor Johnson lose the Bears to Indiana

They could always transform Schenley Park golf course land and build there?
It’s about 65 acres… if they need more land, it’s there in the Park..
But 65 acres oughta be more enough for the stadium, parking lot, practice facility, Steeler offices, and development of restaurants and bars..
The only downfall would be the traffic in and out.. similar to Way Forbes Field was which was almost near the golf course

Possibly

so say, the site of the old Century 3 Mall... put a stadium there... buy up the West mifflin businesses that shuttered when the mall closed

That’s still not big enough. If they bought that the toys r us and the strip mall behind it, still not large enough. Even if you used some usable land on the hill overlooking the mall as annex parking, it would still be a nightmare. You could probably figure out a way to develop a practice facility out of that. The debate there would be amenities v. security and seclusion.

Zero percent chance across the board, CMU would **** a brick. The city and residents would also be up in arms.

Nah, theyd move to the subburbs...

Pittsburgh is one of the only large cities that didnt annex all its suburban areas... its why there are more municipalities per square mile in Allegheny county than anywhere else in the world. Finding land to build a new Stadium on as well as parking needed while staying close enough to utilize the city hotels... and they could first buy up all the developmental land in the area and make a mint... so say, the site of the old Century 3 Mall... put a stadium there... buy up the West mifflin businesses that shuttered when the mall closed ...
out by the airport is perfect

They may want more land but it seems excessive. Land speculation isn’t my thing. Ten to twenty of flat with an acre of perimeter around it would work. Security and seclusion are nice. I think that’s about right. I never built a football practice facility. If they had gotten on the idea early, they could’ve done something on the opposite river in Hazelwood. It would’ve contributed to the redevelopment.

The airport makes sense except there are federal laws about how near a stadium can be and how high any building can be by airports that were recently enacted... its why the Browns building is still getting flak... they had to trim its size.. and im still not certain they got approval

Or the traffic nightmare for anyone coming from the east having to navigate through two tunnels.

They are excavating to meet the height requirements.. Going down 80 feet. Costing a fortune to do.

The Flushing Browns is what I was alluding to… and your response got all the accolades . LOL

The posters around here can’t possibly be that slow. LOL

Slow enough to read your post(s)………………………

now do the borders and you can see how, back in the day, you could tailgate on the Auburn Hills side of the highway, in the fan lot, and then cross the road to the Silverdome. it wasn't 9 miles.

If you ever visit, stay on the Auburn Hills side, it's much nicer.

YeuP, and Joe taxpayer is to foot the bill that has increased by 200 million.

Let the government get involved and it’s endless “Joe Taxpayer” .

this gets old real fast, it’s not just there in Illinois but spread throughout the country.

I don’t have the answers, but bureaucracy is a culprit.

I used to believe that it was all government bureaucracy and waste, but the fraud reporting over the last 12 months has me believing that almost the entirety of our debt is due to fraud and grift. Politics is built on buying access, with all that money involved everyone is getting theirs.

Except us.

It probably contributes to more of it than people would think. Graft, fraud and waste are issues in all levels of government. With the national level, it’s more a philosophical issue. Too much inefficient spending and too little revenue collection is the problem. At the federal level, taxing some behemoth corporations is a nightmare. There’s a disconnect on the solution and eventual outcome. If tax collection is the answer, the middle class will shrink further. It’ll be on both ends of it. Take a look at the national debt clock. It is itemized. You can see pretty clearly how that mess has come to fruition. The numbers aren’t “real time” exact, but, they are close enough in the long run. The end of year data seems to closely match. Cutting expenditures is the best path forward.

I’m sure the “Tax-payer” doesn’t want to fund a new stadium, why would they???

The Fallacy of how much the NFL brings into a city Is far fetched.

Agreed on both parts, in their defense, Soldier Field is over one hundred years old. I know they had a renovation in the mid 2000s. That being said, the bones are still the same. Lambeau and Soldier field are the only iconic, classic stadiums left. The Bears have gotten good use out of it. It’s not twenty or thirty years old.
