The point is that with the right talent and roster, Prime Johnson will get more out of that roster over a 5 year period than Prime Tomlin. Because Jimmy was tighter on the details and discipline. See Aikman's lamentations about Switzer for the difference. Tomlin's teams have been sloppy on the whole. Unbuttoned.

We've just gone 5 years without a playoff win. I'd still take Prime Jimmy over the next 5 years vs this Tomlin. It's not a nomination for Church Elder of Deacon. We know Jimmy was a prick. But he would tighten this team up.
Prime Johnson never had to deal with a salary cap, which is the reason why he tapped out after 4 years in MIA. He found out it wasn’t like college ball or his first rodeo in DAL where he got everyone he wanted. Additionally, Prime Johnson, was gifted three 1st round and three 2nd round picks by Mike Lynn agreeing to the most asinine trade in NFL history. Without all that capital, no Emmitt Smith, no Russell Maryland and no Darren Woodson. Foundations for his two SB teams.

Give Coach 3 first and second rounders and he could find one quality player.….Well, arguably maybe one player.

Steelers heading to playoffs under Tomlin.

But Tomlin is smart enough, he’s good enough, and doggone it people like him!

With that type of talent, Johnson would have been under a lot of pressure to win the playoff games. Especially with triplets 1.0.

Tomlin had 2.0 and Air Coryell All rolled into one.

LOL Drink……you know its the board’s Coach. He‘s 100% right on all things past. Draft picks, game decisions, player evaluations, etc.

I've been as critical of HCMT as anyone on this board.... on football related matters. And whenever I became particularly caustic, I framed it in the context of the man. "By all accounts he's a decent man, a good husband and father". While the two go hand in hand, HCMT the man is a good man. Even likable.

Along comes this interview with Ryan and some of his friends. I really like this HCMT. He's a very good friend to these kids. And it seems that he's the first to stand up an do the right thing. The interview is long but a lot of fun.

With that said, my criticisms remain. He doesn't seem to develop talent. He doesn't seem to utilize talent to its potential. He seems to be content with the résumé. The record clearly speaks for itself. But he's a good and decent man. In the last analysis, that's the résumé that remains.

Wondering about this Flores fellow. Might he be the catalyst? They don't seem to all hierarchy oriented. Maybe something special can happen here.

I don't know. Lot's of people are who upset with Tomlin for being the head coach. You could be behind guys who want him out. Take a number. But you're right outside the game he's a decent man. I'll stand with that. To quote Chuck Noll, " It's time to get on with his life's work. "

It's been six years since he won a playoff game and next year, odds are it will be seven and counting. This cloud put us on special list of losers in the NFL. Teams that have not won in the playoffs since 2016. The Lions, the Jets, and you get the picture.

He doesn't developed talent. Yes that is true. His track record of BAD OC's and hires in general is another issue. He has no coaching tree of guys he hired and developed to be NFL head coaches and its 15 years long. You'd figure by now he have some....but he has in fact zero.

LOL, I match by record vs who the steelers picked since TJ Watt who I wanted. The Steelers can keep Bush, Lewis, Edumunds, Washington, Davis, Burns, and the entire 2015 class. I called out that we pick pro bowl guys. You see I call it and am right more than your care to admit. You don't do that for a good reason. Your are hack. Now keep quiet or I will I remind others of what you thought of Pickett.

I don't know how many times you have to be corrected. You weren't the front runner for TJ Watt. There is a difference in telling everyone and trying to sell them on a player and you picking 10 players and hoping one sticks. But you keep pushing your made up crap. Maybe someone one day will buy. Like this year you were quiet as a church mouse. But here you are finding something to chest thump. You should try your head instead, lot of rattling going on in there.

No, I say who I would've selected the day after the draft. One name per round, not 10. I come up with a few target players for the draft. EVERYBODY who does this pre-draft does the same thing. Try and follow along and I do like posters who are willing to do the same thing right after the draft...list who they would have taken.

For 2022 its Lloyd, Pickens, and Corral for our pick in rounds 1,2 and 3 I'll have to re-bump their success in the NFL at later date for you. Nice to talk football with you.

I'm in agreement for the most part about Tomlin, but would you please stop regurgitating the same WRONG information over and over? It has been FIVE years/seasons since the Steelers won a playoff game in January of 2017, which followed the 2016 regular season. Tomlin has zero playoff wins following the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 seasons. We are only now approaching the BEGINNING of the 2022 regular season. It's really not that hard for you to count, is it? IT'S NOT SIX YEARS, GUY.

No nobody does the draft quite like you cooch. Making **** up as you go. I don't remember you pimping Pickens. Did you just come up with that one? 😅

That's just it Coach, you come in here and select the DAY AFTER THE DRAFT then act like it was your pick pre-draft. Not a very legitimate way of doing things.

Why can't you do like everybody else and show us your 7 rnd draft picks BEFORE the actual draft ???

A-N-D

Then after the draft do your funcky little post draft picks.

Salute the nation

My picks are who I would have drafted the day after. In other words no picking players off the board. Picks who's left in the round. Try it sometime. I was a fan of Lloyd during the process if you read my stuff and wanted him badly in round one . I was fan of Corral. Pickens was a steal in round two, you'll see. That's who I would have selected.

See my post on who I would have picked the day after the draft, you'll find Pickens in round two, and Austin III in round four. We picked some nice players. Tired of doing all the work for you. I write it down, I do not make it up! One difference between us is I remember things. You don't. By the way I challenge you for the Nth time to post who you picked the day after the draft ends. I go all the way to round 7. I doubt you. Again :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Keep it real and talk football.

Coach, you are a legend in your own mind. Your past tense ideology is asinine. You wouldn't know a good player if he was already in the HOF. Oh really? You will remind others what I thought of Pickett? You won’t because you can’t do simple research and post the thread.

But I’ll tell you anyways and you post where I am wrong, with the thread link. I had Pickett the top QB for PIT to choose from. I felt he would be the first QB off the board and we had no chance with him. When we signed Tribusky, I figured that set in stone we were going OL/DL or WR in rd 1. Any QB we draft (Ridder I felt at the time would have been there in the 2nd) afterwards would be in a competition for the back up spot. When all those positions dried up and Pickett was still there at 20, you better believe you take the QB who could be your future franchise QB. His age is a concern, but looking how long QBs are playing to nowadays, it‘s a low risk sum on the decision.

As for picking players AFTER the draft, well I‘ll ask the entire board membership to respond to this posit; how many go to the mock draft sites AFTER the draft, or after each round? I’m going to guess that a high percentage (like 90) don’t……because just like your posts or opinions, they don’t matter.

Oh thats total BS Captain Past Tense. Lloyd could become a solid player, but he’s not in the best place to become one. JAX has a good coach now, but with an entire new staff, he more or less will tread water his first year. As for Pickens, you are riding the after fact coattails you narcissistic tool. You made no mention of Pickens AT ALL before, during, or after the draft until a couple weeks ago. Corral will be a project, and will be the third QB in CAR.

You can post twenty smileys and it wouldn't make your posts any more credible. You know why you post **** after the fact. It is because you do a miniscule amount of research. All talk and no substance. Nobody looks at any of your draft analysis as anything more than a joke. That is keeping it real. Now get back to licking those windows they won't clean themselves.

Even aBlind squirrel finds a nut every now and then… I humorously pimped Austin as a faux draft pick for us months before the draft because he is tiny but quick, and i was inadvertently right. Same with heyward and taking a fourth QB in the seventh… lol apparently being sarcastic and funny is the path to predicting draft picks… and i bet one or two works out great because again irony is apparently the path to wisdom lol

To be clear I think Pickett's is not the answer...at least not a good one capable of winning multiple games in the playoffs. Maybe he'll win a playoff game before his career ends. That's his bar. QB should be on the draft board in round one in 2024. There are some very good ones in college. You don't care, you incorrectly say thing about me, and end by saying that 90% don't care. You must be part of the 10% they does. Do yourself a favor and just shut up and act like the 90% in your small mind.

As for Pickens he was supposed to go in the first round. I don't mock players that we are expected out of range for the pick. In round two, sure! We lucked out. Loved the Steelers pick. He was a steal and should be in the running for rookie of the year.

Steelers fans everywhere now you know we have drafted a franchise QB. The writing is on the wall.

As far as the rest of your percentile drivel. I know 100 percent you are an idiot. Even when you try to diss posters you come across like an incoherent maroon. You still are easily the worst draftnik in history.

Pickens was supposed to go in round 1? That was before his injury. With his so so production and his significant injury it wasn't hard to see him dropping if you were paying attention.

You are correct, I don’t care about any of your football posts. They are ridiculous, self boasting and for most part amusing (like a clown). They are also filled with sentence fragments, repetitiveness and a narrative only for your narcissistic ego. You can kid yourself 100% of the time, but you have an infinitesimal impact to this board and the majority knows it.

Pickens in the first round? More diarrhea of the mouth on your part. He was coming off an injury sustained in the spring of 2021, only played 4 games in 2021, and had documented maturity issues at UGA. He went where he was prognosticated, in the 2nd round. He’s definitely talented. Whether he can keep it together maturity wise (like DJ), is the question.

As for a QB in 2024? Don’t kid yourself like you always do. With NIL endorsements allowed by the NCAA, and with the two Super Conferences being formed, college football will start being like college basketball. Players will maneuver themselves for two years before declaring, so as to start the 4-5 year rookie contract sooner. Arch Manning will be a rich college QB, but he won’t be a better QB in college. He will not have the typical patience of pre-NIL college programs, nor the experience.
