Holy **** Steelers

You will rarely see Ben miss a wide open receiver like Mason did several times today. That said he had some decent moments and had a lot of help losing this game.
He was throwing way high and a million miles an hour when he didn't need to. It was pathetic. 4 years in the league and this is your development?

They certainly need to draft a qb.

what difference does that make

even with his ****** play they could have won.....
A football game is won by the sum of the positional parts. If you told me going into the game they win the QB battle handily I say they win handily. They did. The Lions ran a ****** JV offense and never exposed their QB once.

and rudy was below the standard

We saw today what next year holds for the team. Playing at home against the worst team in the NFL, and give up 200+ yards on the ground, escape with a tie because Detroit does not have Justin Tucker.

Yipee.

The Lions ran to the tune of 229 yards on the ground. Knowing that Goff was going to be limited and then the weather becoming a factor, that's embarrassing.

**** off. He is playing against the Lions and their QB not Ben. His pass yardage was 3 to 4 times more. He did more than enough to win. The fumbles and reject play calling was the problem.
You ******* dipshit! If you cant be honest enough to see him for what he is (which is garbage), then get the **** off this website. Dumbass!

Better or worse than Goff today?
Who cares if he played better or worse than Goff. Both played bad. You also have to think our defense is a bit better. Mason just doesn't have good football IQ like when to take zip off or when to gun it. Just missed too many open guys and was lucky not to have a few more ints. Yes the weather was bad and the rest of the O didn't help, but Mason is an average at best backup

That's what defies logic in how they placed the defense. If they would have just simply stacked the line vs the run. They would have been lucky to get a few field goals. That qb was barely functional. It was pretty clear early on too.

His stat line was well within Ben Roethlisberger's performance line for the year. They fumbled the game away, couldn't stop the run in the middle third and were badly outcoached. Period

Yep... The backup QB has been the Steelers savior for as long as I remember and that goes back to Bradshaw. It's worked out once and that's when a guy named Roethlisberger took over for a guy named Maddox.

and his firing high fastballs or wormburners to open receivers
Like Ben hasn’t done that all season,lol.....I mean really. Look. If Ben plays today we would have won. There is no doubt in my mind. But he didn’t.

30-50 242 yds. So 8yds a pop. Not horrendous stats
The discouraging thing was definitely a couple of the fastballs, and putting far too much loft on the ball. He missed many open receivers. Definitely discouraging. Now that being said.......I definitely think he played well enough to win THIS game. The play calling for this and the other games leaves me shaking my head. I said pregame turn overs will kill,as the usually do. They did.

Once again,That being said........first meaningful start,in absolute **** conditions. Is there room for improvement. There certainly is. But will he get somewhat of a pass? I for one would love to see him play next week in California. Let’s see what he is made of against the Chargers with a week of knowing he will start. Good conditions. I for one want to see the strength of his arm, that somewhat disappointed me today. Let’s call some plays to actually see what he can do for ***** sake.

And.JHC. This doesn’t make me a Ben Hater.

You guys are ****** numbnuts. No one is saying that. Ben plays today. They probably win. I'd never say would. But Rudolph played well enough to win and saying he didn't is stupid. Does he play Interior defensive line. Middle linebacker. Did he have two key fumbles moving into win. Did he get called for holding on the Harris TD. Did he air snaps 5 or 6 times. Did he drop a possible pick six before half.

That's NOT how the stat is calculated, Steelmann. The NFL keeps track of yards per attempt, which is a VASTLY more relevant statistic that yards per completion. Seriously, if a QB goes 2-19 for 42 yards, would that be good since it works out to "21 yards per pop"? Yeah, no.

Rudolph averaged 4.8 yards per attempt. That is horrible. Embarrassing. Flaccid. Terrible. A good average per attempt ... for yards per carry for a RUNNING BACK, maybe.

Ben averaged 8.9 yards per ATTEMPT his first two seasons in the NFL, or more than Rudolph's yards per COMPLETION this game.

Unfortunately this team just isn't very good, and other than a handful of players, the rest are just bodies. I will always root for this team, but it's easier to watch them now because I have no expectations .

I have had a LOT of practice for not caring much about the results for a Pittsburgh professional sports team. The Pirates have been an excellent training method for what I fear may be the next several seasons of Steelers football.

Sorry.....in my defense beers have been flowing, and I looked quickly without 🤔
And it was a **** Steelers day! By the way.....out of curiosity what was Ben’s average last year?

Just took our coaches 3 quarters to figure it out.

Agreed. One would have hoped others on the team could have stepped up their own game to help ease the pressure on Rudy. He didn't play a perfect game but I believe it should have been enough for us to win the game. Our coaches didn't help him out at all either. This was a full-team loss. Besides Harris and the Boz.
