I am officially on the KP8 train

At this point he’s ok. Nothing I’ve seen suggests he’s going to be anything special. Maybe a Kurt Cousins type.
We won't know until 2024, until then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He isn't this teams biggest issue.

120 passes in a row without a pic. That can make a guy a good QB.
4 TD in 265 attempts. Most rookies are better than that. I think he’ll get better, and his play overall is much better, but this doesn’t scream future superstar. It screams Mike Tomczak. Or Neil O’Donnell.

Pickett is coming along, but I haven't seen any signs that he will be great. Still too early though. And by that same measure I still want Tomlin gone, don't care if they run the table and the sports media tells me MT is the second coming of Jesus for "turning the team around." He needs to hit the road, another wild card one and done performance isn't fooling me.

We don't need a super star at QB and we certainly don't need a QB that gets paid like a super star. It eats up too much salary cap.

If he turns out to be a Cousins/Carr type of QB, that's not the worst comparison to be. They both have had their moments. He's improving, not really making bonehead mistakes. His accuracy needs some work and decision making needs to improve, but he's getting better every game. I'm looking forward to see how he handles the Ravens rivalry.

Just some additional info:
1. Who leads the NFL in completion percentage when blitzed?
(A) Kenny Pickett
2. What is Kenny Pickett's passer rating against the blitz?
(A) 106.9

*info found in an article at the Trib.

The problem is the Steelers are competing against the likes of Maholmes, Allen, Burrow, Tua and Herbert in the AFC for the next decade.

If not a legit MVP superstar caliber QB, it kind of feels like you need something close to it to be relevant in the foreseeable AFC.

If Pickett ends up "just" being Alex Smith of Kirk Cousins, as many project, you can definitely win with that, assuming you have the right team and coaching around him.

Mahomes hasn't won jack since his salary kicked in. Most of the big ticket QBs either. Tua is only relevant because of his current receivers. Chargers will be in a world of trouble once Herbert gets paid. They aren't that good now. We'll see how Buffalo holds up too. There's guys on that team that will want money too and Allen is taking up quite a big chunk.

I think it's easier to put the right team around Kenny if he doesn't eat up 20% of the salary cap. Hopefully he doesn't get Cousins type money.

Frankly as much as I love TJ, I'm beginning to wonder if that wasn't a mistake. When one player takes up that much cap he better damn well play every game and make a big difference. Definitely not saying he should have walked as a FA but there's other options.

Somebody mentioned it in another thread, but Kenny completely missed Muth for a TD on one drive that wound up as a field goal. He really needs to take advantage when he has a TD chance. He is close and right now, a better QB as a rookie than Tua, Mahomes, Allen or Brady.

Look up the stats if you don't believe me.

But when you have a chance to put 6 on the board, you gotta take advantage.

As a rookie, he gets the pass because he is showing improvement. Next couple of years? Better not happen or be very rare.

I really thought he was going to be that tier of QB… you can win with that if you don’t try to use him like he is Ben 2.0…. Which I definitely don’t trust the staff to do at all

I mean, he is a rookie and game managing is typically what rookies do. Even everyone's favorite rookie game manager Ben Roethlisberger took years to shed that title. Then again, not all young QBs can look as good as Mason Rudolph so we shall see.
well, Pickett definitely hasn’t looked as good as Rudolph.

He’s shown improvement. He began playing like 🐎 💩. The last few games game manager. I fear he regresses vs the Ravens. Not because they have a good defense but they are dirty players and team. Ben used to just get beat on and just keep getting up. But if he can keep improving that’s all anyone can ask for. The $64,000 question is what his ceiling is. I do think Aaron Rodgers type QB is still possible. Both have similar body types and from all accounts KP is studying like a guy committed to being successful. Kirk Cousins or Carr wouldn’t be bad at this point. Probably not winning a Super Bowl with that at QB but you win games and have some moments.
My biggest concern is he was touted as the most ready college QB and that his floor was supposed to be high. Obviously, his floor wasn’t that high. So keep getting better and working hard. I think we’ll know what we have by 2024.

He’s a rookie. He’ll make mistakes. I have confidence in him in that he takes his career seriously. He gets a pass from there.

I’m not so sure. I mean, Brady and Mahomes each played one game as a rookie. Hell, Brady threw a whopping three passes his rookie year. Those two guys probably aren’t the best comparison.

While Tua didn’t have much yardage ( a little over 1800), he did have 11 TD vs 5 INT in 10 games. Josh Allen’s stat line is similar to Pickett’s, he had 10 TD and 12 INT, but his completion percentage was ****.

Ok, I’m convinced you’re on drugs. Pickett is better than Rudolph. Not sure what this hard on you have for Rudolph is about, but you’re making yourself look foolish.

No, Kenny Pickett isn’t the next great thing at QB, at least not yet. But damn, a blind person can see he has surpassed Rudolph.

You’re right Sarge

After his first season starting seven games Mahomes was 20 TDs and 5 INTs… KP doesn’t compare favorably

KP really struggles for TD passes, especially in the red zone

We have some on here who seem to hate him. Every off throw and he sucks but when he makes great throws or runs, crickets. It's amusing. It is too early to tell. We really won't know who he is for sure until year 3 as we are still hoping for a new OC next year even though I doubt we get one. KP is definitely showing signs of improvement and showing he can make all the throws needed to be an NFL QB. He is working on his touch and his timing. He's looking around the field for the open man is already much better than Trubisky was doing in the first 3.5 games of the season so that is definitely a plus. He was scanning the field on every play yesterday. Sure, he missed a few open guys - Pickett was open on one play but KP was also running for his life so.... He is making good progress and that's all we can ask for as a rookie.
