What worries me is that a genuine push back of Socialism and far left ideology's will get commingled with these alt-right KKK Southern Law groups. It looks like a push back has started over the Confederate statue removals but sadly the leaders look to be, or are reported to be extremists.

White nationalists stage torchlight march on Univ. of Virginia campus

Like many cities, Charlottesville has grappled with what to do with its Confederate monuments -- symbols of the Civil War that represent heritage to some, hate to others.

In April, the city council voted to remove the bronze statue of Lee, CNN affiliate WVIR reported. It was one of several steps Charlottesville is taking to reduce its Confederate monuments. The removal is on hold pending litigation.

The city became an ideal protest site for white nationalists.

This entire community is a very far left community that has absorbed these cultural Marxist principles advocated in college towns across the country, about blaming white people for everything," said Jason Kessler, who organized the "Unite the Right" rally.

Kessler, a Charlottesville resident, blames what he calls "the anti-white hatred that's coming out of the city."

The previous two rallies were "seen as an affront to the liberal population of this city and of the country," Kessler said.

The events "reopened the wound. It stuck a finger on the raw nerve of this population that has already failed to get over the election of Donald Trump," he said.

Charlottesville, which has a population of 47,000, had 80% of its voters choose Hillary Clinton last year

I don't know if there is a way to actively push back on the Liberal college Marxist doctrine without being labeled a white nationalist, neo-Confederate or alt-right activist. Seems the new liberal dog whistle has incorporated 'white nationalist' as the cherry on top of the "you're a racist" sundae.

I don't know that there is a way to push back without attracting extreme elements.

I don't know how the people of the south feel about them yanking their history away, I'm just another transplanted Yankee, but I do know that I can't see rewriting history as a good thing even if it wasn't perfect.

I also know that I am seein' this Country edge closer and closer to civil disruption and that can't be the answer.

Both sides are gonna have to back off.

Like I said in the ROP thread, welcome to the world of identity politics.

A certain message will always be taken differently and handled differently by people of different intelligence levels. Dumber people will always take something to a dumber level, which will never help their cause, it only weakens their argument. Responding with hate will never help anything. Responding with resistance constructively will.

The following speech is abbreviated for it's overall length .... This speech was given in 2005.

A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, 'Mexifornia,' explaining how immigration, both legal and illegal, was destroying the entire state of California . He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream.

Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America .

'Here is how they do it,' Lamm said:

'First, to destroy America, turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bi-cultural country... History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures

'Second, to destroy America, invent 'multiculturalism' and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. Make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal; that there are no cultural differences. Make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.

'Third, we could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec ' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity.

'Fourth: I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, un-assimilated, under-educated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school.'

My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology...' I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority.'

'Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits. Make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate.

In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said, 'Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book 'Mexifornia.' His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America. If you feel America deserves to be destroyed, don't read that book.

Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we don't get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream

Sounds like a Liberal playbook to me

Here's where I'm beginning to have a problem with all of this.

From ABC:
The state of Virginia followed suit shortly after, declaring the gathering to be unlawful and ordering both rallygoers and counterprotesters to "disperse immediately."

"This gathering has been declared as to be an unlawful assembly; in the name of the Commonwealth, you are commanded to immediately disperse; if you do not disperse immediately you will be arrested,” an officer announced to milling crowds midday Saturday."

I then think back to riots and protests in some of the following locations...I recall Ferguson being declared a state of emergency, Baltimore as well. But at ANY of these riots/protests, were they told their assembly was "unlawful"?

  • Berkeley
  • Dallas
  • Baltimore
  • BLM rallies
  • Baltimore
  • Ferguson

So Whitey now doesn't have the same rights to assembly that the violent Alt Left does?

Here's the problem with your analysis Tim........All those locations were being looted and burned while the police were being assaulted. Them white folks was just walked around with little tiki torches.

I guess if you want to be considered legal and left alone, ya gotta be a lot more belligerent, destructive and disrespectful.

Anyone who condones a march where protesters are carrying nazi flags can go **** THEMSELVES.

Like I said, how do you keep them from commingling ? The KKK, same way. They would even show up at the Tea Party rallies after they had been run off multiple times. I f they want the spotlight, they will go where the people are.

I didn't condone rioters assaulting police in Ferguson or Baltimore. I see attacking the police being worse than carrying a Nazi flag, which I also find unacceptable.

Nothing worse though than the BLM rally in Dallas where 5 policemen were killed, 9 others wounded.

That makes carrying a Nazi flag seem like childs play, don't ya think?

I'm embarrassed that these people call themselves "the right". I've been a Republican my entire life...it's always been about individual liberty for all for me. I don't want to be associated with white supremacists in any way shape or form.

There is a big difference between rewriting history and not proudly displaying monuments and symbols of those who fought to secede from this country so they could keep a race of people enslaved. People seem to forget that it was the "right" who fought the confederacy, not the other way around.

I disagree when you say "there is a big difference" between rewriting history and not proudly displaying monuments. This is in fact a step toward rewriting history. The first step in rewriting history is to remove the symbols - the statues, the flags. It's all being done in front of us.

Statues are historical. People take tours. Gettysburg represents so much bad, so much evil, yet it represents the most important battle between good and evil in the Civil War. Monuments everywhere. So what should we do next? Go to Gettysburg and remove the monuments for the fighters from Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and all other Southern states? The Soldiers and Sailors of the Confederacy Monument?

Look, I'm Republican. I'm so happy this country fought to abolish slavery. But America has warts. The Civil War being one of the greatest. Removing monuments, statues and flags is wrong. And it is rewriting history. And that is dangerous.

Look up Alger Hiss as an example.

Ask your kids who Alger Hiss was. Ask your children who Nixon was. They will have an answer for one, not the other.

People have lost their minds. Indeed. Lots have warned these days were coming. The violence over the past couple of years was just a taste of what's to escalate, sadly. I don't know what people think the result of Ferguson, Baltimore, the Knock Out Game, BLM assassinations, attempted assassinations of Congressmen, etc would lead to except more of the same.

I'm very disturbed on where we are.

Because freedom of speech and assembly is only for people who have views you approve of?

That is a very dangerous stance, remember if you can deny their rights to speech they can deny you yours.
Besides I like having ******** like this clearly differentiated from the rest of the population just like I am for the AntiFa Facistsr being able to carry their Communist Aktion and hammer and sickle flags while sporting Bernie Sanders and Dou-Che Guevara Tees. Let's you know exactly what they are about.

This whole things sucks, but I wish I was surprised. You go around for decades telling a group of people that they are the cause of all the world's ills, ban them from college campuses, create discriminatory policies that hold down one group and raise another and hold college courses on why their color is a huge problem (just to name a few things), and what do you think is gonna happen? People are gonna get tired of it. Look at the Civil Rights Movement. People were tired of being discriminated against and marginalized, and the protested and rose up for their rights. What you are seeing now is what happens when the left has over-played their hand in marginalizing white people. That anyone is surprised just tells me that people live in a fantasy world. And I would bet my left nut it gets worse before it gets better.

And before anyone jumps on me, I know this is nothing like the Civil Rights Movement. My point was, that at some point people are going to get tired of being marginalized and treated like ****.

I just flipped on MSNBC to look at their coverage, and they have this Dem Congressman from Arizona calling President Trump a racist and Sebastian Gorka a Nazi. That is the kind of rhetoric that we really need right now.......from a Government official. Un-*******-believable.

Ex-KKK Leader David Duke Says White Supremacists Will ‘Fulfill’ Trump’s Promises
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...ca8e4b0909642974a10?ncid=inblnkushpmg00000009

“We are determined to take our country back,” Duke said. “We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump.”

As the official start of the “Unite the Right” rally kicked off in Charlottesville, Virginia, former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke said the gathering of white supremacists, neo-Nazis and far-right individuals pointed to a future fulfillment of President Donald Trump’s “promises.”

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">David Duke now here in <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/charlottesville?src=hash">#charlottesville</a> for <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/altright?src=hash">#altright</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/unitetheright?src=hash">#unitetheright</a> rally <a href="https://twitter.com/USATODAY">@USATODAY</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/RbtKing">@RbtKing</a> <a href="https://t.co/au69sTiTlR">pic.twitter.com/au69sTiTlR</a></p>— Mykal McEldowney (@mykalmphoto) <a href="https://twitter.com/mykalmphoto/status/896387613157974018">August 12, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

“This represents a turning point for the people of this country,” said Duke in video uploaded to Twitter by Indianapolis Star photojournalist Mykal McEldowney. “We are determined to take our country back. We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. That’s what we believed in, that’s why we voted for Donald Trump. Because he said he’s going to take our country back. That’s what we gotta do.”

In a tweet, Trump condemned “hate” and “violence” in response to clashes at the rally on Saturday, though he did not call out white supremacists in particular.

Duke responded to Trump’s tweet by stating that Trump should “remember” that “White Americans’ were the ones to put him in office.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I would recommend you take a good look in the mirror & remember it was White Americans who put you in the presidency, not radical leftists. <a href="https://t.co/Rkfs7O2Ykr">https://t.co/Rkfs7O2Ykr</a></p>— David Duke (@DrDavidDuke) <a href="https://twitter.com/DrDavidDuke/status/896431991821926401">August 12, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Duke, a former KKK Grand Wizard, has long connected his message of white supremacy to ideas espoused by the president.

During the presidential campaign, Duke stated that he and Trump had similar messages, pointing to Trump proposing policies like a border wall or Muslim ban.

“Donald Trump is talking implicitly. I’m talking explicitly,” Duke said last year, according to Time.

Duke supported Trump’s campaign and publicly celebrated his lead on election night. Trump disavowed Duke and the KKK, but only after initially declining to do so, claiming he didn’t “know anything about” him.

This weekend’s rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, called “Unite the Right,” was nominally billed as a protest against the removal of a monument to Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. The rally drew out hundreds of demonstrators bearing Nazi symbols and Confederate flags and chanting racist slogans. Violence has erupted between the far-right rally attendees and counter-protestors, leading Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) to declare a state of emergency.

It's a fine line between leaving historical artifacts in place and honoring people and movements which caused immense suffering and pain. Flying a Confederate flag is certainly not necessary in any way shape or form to learn about history. Can you imagine the current German government flying Nazi flags over some of its buildings? I think some sensitivity to people who were enslaved tortured and murdered is necessary and good.

Removing historic monuments is where it gets grayer, I'll concede that.

Hey Tibs......I wonder if the Russians colluded with Trump to make this protest violent?
