Ice Bowl 2.0: DAL/GB

It's not a catch based on the rule so with that said, move this discussion to the rule itself; I for one say it needs to be changed. That should have been a catch. Had the ball left his hand after touching the ground (completely on the ground for x-milliseconds), then no catch...but it didn't. The rule has to be amended so future "catches" like this aren't overturned.

Look at the replay you'll see the ball was loose in his left hand even before it hits the ground. When he unwisely shifted to one hand and stretched for the goal line he never had a firm grip which is why the ball so easily popped out. Non catch, never had full control and the ball came loose.

You are outta your tree. I just watched the gif above 3 more times after reading your posts convinced I must have missed whatever you saw. Please scroll up and watch it with an unbiased eye. As he is coming down to the ground the ball is cupped firmly in his hand and forearm. It does not move one iota until it hits the ground. Hate the Cowboys all you want but be realistic at least.

Yep. As i said in another thread weeks ago when a TE caught a pass while going to the ground against us...when he hit the ground the ball moved. Ruled a catch. Tomlin challenged it. The play stood. That is what gets me. from week to week it's called differently. if De wi could of gotten 15 steps in while falling to the ground and the ball moved it still wouldn't be a catch. That's the RULE. As stupid as it may be.
100% correct. No way this was not a catch and this was. And for sure when you listen to the former heads of officials they don't always agree with the replay decision. In my mind after last week's debacle there was no way Dallas was getting that call.

On this play Calvin Johnson had clearer control and possession then Bryant had but it was still ruled incomplete. Maybe the rule sucks but it's still the rule.

Dallas got beat by a peg-leg QB and a rookie WR - not a rule
