If KP and Trubu stay healthy for week one I'd cut Mason if they plan to keep all three TE's and an HB. They have a ton of tough defensive line decisions. There are simply too many tough decisions. If both KP and Trubu are lost the season is lost anyhow.

QB is THE most important position on the field and KP is a mobile QB. Top that with an offense line that will probably have a rookie at Left tackle, there is just no way you do that IMO. Mason understands the offense and you dont have some shlep off the street to run this offense.

Since I'm all high you will have to explain this scenario to me. Kenny gets hurt extended. Mitch gets hurt. And Mason who you've watched for years takes you to the playoffs or buys you significant time for one of the others to come back and I'm the one smoking the cheddar here. Better chance a backup gets hurt in the pre season and you get a 7th or maybe a 6th for Rudolph. If both Rudolph and Trubisky get hurt it's a done deal anyhow.

if KP and Mitch are lost for the season, tank.
then you'll get a shot at Caleb Williams - and can swap an entire draft or two for him.

win-win

They absolutely will have tgree qbs on the roster. The NFL is pretty much pushing that. Whether it is Mason or someone else, there is certainly going to be 3…

O’Canada has proven that even a HOF QB has problems running this offense, I can’t imagine a “street” shlep being able to do it.!

I think the Steelers go three deep at QB. But OP is right there is some tough roster decisions at DE and NT.

Wexell reports that Tanner Morgan has looked good. Does he threaten Rudolph's spot?

I don't think so as that red nosed third third stringer isn't costing a lot. So if you have experience and aren't costing a lot. Odds are you won't be replaced. Unless the kid beats him out clearly which doesn't seem to be happening.

Absolutely, but there really were last year too… a bunch of our cuts ended up on other rosters… buggs is now a starter down in detroit iirc… I expect they keep 7 this year. If they kept an 8th it would probably be at the expense of a LB

They need to keep all three QBs and stop fooling around and wasting time and a roster spot on Kendrick Green. Connor will be the FB!

Perhaps one of those STers gets the boot with the new ST rule in place.

Morgan rarely even gets a snap. No chance he threatens Rudolph.

The Steelers have a lot of depth on the OL and I don't think they'll give it away cutting anyone. We'll see what the defensive line brings throughout the preseason because it is a group that could be good if they develop, but I'm not sold yet.

I don't think the issue is so much whether Morgan is as good as Rudolph cause he is not. The question is if you could stash him on the PS and if KP gets hurt call him up and if Trubu gets hurt what does it even matter.

Only if he can rip off helmets and swing them————————

After last year the league went out of its way to reenact the 3rd QB policy .. I doubt the Steelers will not take advantage of it by keeping a PS qb…

and I believe it was hinted a few years ago that the Steelers weren’t going to try that anymore after the 2019 debacle anyhow… there will be 3qbs on the 53…

Funny part of the 2019 debacle was the guy we are talking about not being able to keep the job away from a guy who was a better duck caller than Q.
Look Im ok with it if we are talking about keeping the better of the two nose tackles not named Benton. But they have a lot of good Dlineman. A lot of good inside linebackers, a lot of good edges and a lot of good DBs. These are gonna be tough decisions.

Okay. KP and Mitch go down....Do you want a man like Mason who knows the plays, terminology, and has repore and reps with the WR's...or do you bring in someone who has no ******* clue at all?

La da da daaaaaaaaaaa...its the mother ******* D O double G!!!

If KP and Mitch are down, I want a high pick next season. There is no playoff run with Rudy, so get in line for a better draft slot because this season is toast.

I don't know. Many people thought that Rudolph had a better pre-season last year than both Pickett and Mitch, yet he was 3rd string coming out of camp. For me it's not hard to see them move on from Rudolph and go with a younger guy if the difference is negligable.

That offense was terrible. It had less to do with them thinking Hodges was better than it did with searching for some kind of spark. Neither QB was any good in that system, Ben didn't look great his last season and now Kenny and Mitch look bad. I think it is less the player and more the coach.

Rudolph isn't a great QB and may not even be a decent one, but this narrative that Duck Hodges somehow beat him out and took his job is nonsense.

This!
Look, I've been a big supporter of Rudy. In fact If they couldn't have got KP in draft I'd have likely gone with him last year. That said 31 teams didn't even want him as a backup last year. That really says a lot. And even at that I'm good with him at 3rd. I just don't want to see a good player get cut for him. Cause he is not.

The reality is that because the concussion protocols were tightened, you cant risk not having a QB … it’s unlikely that guys are gonna be allowed to return from hard hits quickly if at all in a game… you really can’t risk that for a dlineman that is barely going to play much even with an injury or two…

Yeah we will cut some good guys… but you still need a third QB … qbs are way more important than dlinemen… in a pinch you can get a lb to play on the dl… you don’t want a rb playing qb lol
