I'd cut Rudolph for the roster spot

He’s a big dude. I would say pretty close to Roethlisberger’s size. Hard to be agile at that size.
Ben wasn't what I would call agile but he made it work with a 6th sense and just enough athleticism. Mason has shown that a few times but not like Ben. Ben was a freak, in a good way.

Ben was a hell of an athlete not just enough. Rudy is like the polar opposite. The difference between the two is night and day.

Mason got hit in the face with the reality that this is a business first. I am sure he was given the "stay one more year for your shot" song and dance and signed on the dotted line. At this point the best he and the Steelers could hope for is a few more preseason games like last week and maybe an injury bug hits a QB room. We might get a draft pick and he might get an opportunity elsewhere. Win win for everyone.
Meh....I see it as an opportunity for him to hang on here for numerous o e year deals. He is making a living as a third string option. Leftwich knew his place here. When Tribisky leaves and if Rudy is still around maybe he elevates to 2nd string. Or if he still is around when Pickett's rookie deal has run ot course depending how he has done might give him a window of starts. He could weave this into a long career. Or next season he might not even be playing.

Remember Brian St. Pierre. Qb. Employed in the NFL 10 years as a #3 qb. Never took a snap in a real regular season game.

The only millionaire Walmart greeter.

With two 1sts and a 3rd in the room I’d expect them to be above average

Our backups definitely are better than average and hopefully the starter is trending in that direction or becomes better than average soon

So spot on though, not too many teams have a competent backup much less a guy like Mason as the QB3

I hear this, I’ve gone spelunking in several states, Kayaking in different oceans (both ours and foreign) and lakes, Driven miles and miles only to end up where I STARTED and yet, all thissssss………. To find your approval on Mason as our 3rd.

I fully agree on your’s and many others including mine………. Mason is above the line when it comes to #3 QB-ing.

No ****, to have somebody even think Red Nose is in the same conversation as BEN is
purely ___________ fill in the blank.

YES, that includes beginning / middle / and end of his career, BEN was ****-ing way superior to Mason.

That is true but it isn't necessarily a slight on Mason. Ben is one of the all time greats. Not many QB's even some who are stars can be compared to Ben.
