I'd cut Rudolph for the roster spot

So think of it like this…lets pretend that in the first half of a game next season we are going to lose two players for the duration of the game..
by positon:
QB if we kept 2 instead of three, we are ******. You can’t use the third qb option on a ps qb who isnt active that game and ps qbs have limited call ups so you can not call up the same qb more than twice as an active player without him being on the 53
Lets say we only keep 2 Rbs… well then, heyward still can cover rb, as could several wrs…
Losing two olinemen…there will be at least two backup olinemen active..
losing two wideouts… we will have sufficient wrs and tes to cover that
Losing two tes… Heyward could fill in at te as could a bigger wr or even a olineman in blocking scenarios…
Losing two dlinemen… we will likely carry seven and probably have six active… the spare olbs can rotate in at de.
Losing two safeties or cornerbacks can be covered by the slew of DBs we have active
Losing two olbs still would leave us with 2 and ilbs and des can cover it in a pinch… losing two ilbs can be likewise covered by the active backups and in a pinch Safties or olbs…

Outside of specialists like K and P that are far less critical than QB, Qb is the least replaceable…

I don't know. Many people thought that Rudolph had a better pre-season last year than both Pickett and Mitch, yet he was 3rd string coming out of camp. For me it's not hard to see them move on from Rudolph and go with a younger guy if the difference is negligible.
Why would they go with inexperience over experience if all things are created equal?

If anything this off-season the way it was attacked I see a veteran experience as highly regarded. To get around that approach Morgan will have to clearly beat him out.

I think Morgan making a real push still only gets him on the practice squad… they need a guy to be 3 qb next year and eventually be a long term backup and he could be it.

I'd be interested at someone who thinks he should be on 53 constructing a roster based on numbers per position with the bubble cut at DL, LB, Edge, Corner, Safety and Oline.

Enough of the nonsense. Rudolph isn't going anywhere this year. He is the No. 3 QB and there is no competition for it.

Specialist 3
Qb 3
Rb 3
Te 4 including HB fB
Oline 8 green or herbig gets cut
Wr 5 2 of gunner, butler or Boykin cut
Dline 6 Adams or Fehoko gets cut ir 7 if you keep 3
Off ball lb 4 Muse is cut
Edge 4 Roche is cut
Corner/nickle 5 Riley is cut
Safety 4 killebrew or Norwood is cut
That equals 52 by my quick math
Someone can check. Some of those are easy some not so.

Ive done that… go look at the roster positions thread for historically what we have kept. I had us down for 7 DL. It’s mostly pretty consistent year to year what we do.

I can do another tonight… i have a program.. i just have to update the roster a bit.

Thats 49 by my count.
3 specialists 23 O 23 D?

Rosters are 53… they will likely keep 6 wrs, 7 dl, another db and an olineman over your numbers

Didn't almost every team in the NFL go with 2 qbs dressed for most of the past several years?

Who is more likely of the QBs not named Kenny or Mitch to survive on the PS? No one wanted Rudy for free....

You are correct and I agree. They can keep Rudolph without cutting too deep. Adams is pretty easy for me. You could keep Feheko for run and Benton for in between.

Adams is a very high probability cut because he is tge tgird highest cap hit on the DL and likely to be a backup if not at first, by season end. I have him as a cut barring injury

I feel he becomes redundant with Benton and Feheko is a real deal double team space eater on first down.

With the money we spent on Mitch as a backup I wouldn't keep 3 QB's either. I guess it isn't costing much in the way of salary. Who knows maybe we can trade him for a late round pick if a teams QB room gets hit with the injury bug.

If I’m guesstimating the DLwe keep on the 53 barring injuries are

4 locks: Heyward, Ogunjobi, Leal, and Benton. I don’t envision any of them losing a roster spot without an injury

Then Loudermilk is a very likely choice as a near lock at dt/de. As is Fehoko, imo, who is the best pure runstopper on the team… so that is two more…

The last probably come from either Watt or Adams. Adams costs over 3.2 million… taking out the 720,000 signing bonus that is guaranteed… and factoring in that watt costs a million dollars … keeping Watt over him we save 1.5 million dollars in cap space…

Couple Mason’s status of “king of preseason” with Mitch’s status as “king of meh” and we could have a legit battle for QB2…and ya know QB2 will get at least a start or a few

And no, Mason is not getting cut to roll with 2 QBs…too risky and Mason plays for 🥜

Thought Rudy played well. Stood tall in the pocket, made some good passes under pressure. Great pass to Austin Powers. If we have a solid running game with a good line, he'd be a better than average backup, IMO. If we're a high flying offense.... Not sure...

I think we saw last night that there is a clear cut pecking order at QB. They just extended Mitch. He will not get cut or demoted. Mason is here for one more year. Morgan might be having a good camp, but he isn’t ready for gameday yet
