If you were an NFL GM....

Take it from a dude who worked in gambling for a decade... Guys who have gambling addictions dont kick them easily..

The NFL wont be tolerant and wont get beat in court cause they have actual legal authority to banish him forever...

Anyone betting anything higher than a third day pick is stupid

My early QB rankings for next year's draft:

Arguably top-15 potential (I want one of these guys):
Arch Manning
Dante Moore
Julian Saying
CJ Carr
Drew Mestermaker (not my favorite)

Late 1st/2nd Round potential (kind of admitting defeat, but grading athleticism high to maybe find diamond dual threat):
DJ Langway
Jayden Maiava (likely too old at 23 on draft day for me to like him)
Nico Iamaleave
Darian Mensah
LaNorris Sellers
Josh Hoover
Trinidad Chambliss

Big problem would be if both Manning and Saying decide to stay in school. I think that would artificially push up Langway possibly one of the others into 1st round discussion, which I'm not sold on right now.

If we had not drafted Allar (which I didn't like), I think a 3rd round pick in the supplemental draft might get Sorsby and he is a VASTLY superior prospect to Allar for the same price in draft capital.

It will be curious what round gets Sorsby. He certainly looks to have a lot of traits you like in a passer, even if his head/off-field stuff are red flags.

He played for Indiana and Cincinnati, two very storied franchises known for their QB development and NFL ready prospects, NOT!

I know, I know...Natty champs 2026 and Mendoza #1 overall...I'm talking history folks. One damn year does not a QB factory make.

Why waste your time bringing in a camp body that you're only going to release to the USFL or whatever that sub-league BS is now-a-days unless you need some pointers on parlay strategies, I guess?

I think it’s the “UFL” and that season is over other than. Pklayoffs.

My thing is they could bring him in before the supplemental draft, give him an interview / workout / physical while using that information to proceed or pass on his gambling Azzzz.

I also seem to think that what ever pick you use on him in the supplemental draft, you forfeit that pick in the next upcoming real draft. Take that into account and think 6th / 7th and value. Maybe you just pass, but worth the effort.

Salute the nation

IMO - Iamaleavabitch severely hurt his draft stock with his departure from Tennessee. Even if you do not like the Vols, you have to see that they built that offense around his strengths and were all-in on him from high school. Once he got there, he was receiving bad advice from people who did not have his best interest at heart. Yeah, that happens a lot, in every sport. Yet Nico not only listened to them, he leaned in to those whispers and began holding the team and program hostage. He wanted more money to play in a bowl game and showed via injury(?!) how the team would fare without him. Then began reaching out to other programs to gauge interest in how much they'd pay him to transfer.

Now, this is a new NCAA and new rules, but if I'm an NFL GM, i'd have strong feelings about drafting him and his 2nd contract was coming up. Would he be an easy sign? Would he be worth the headache? Would he bolt and leave the team and FO that would also build around his strengths, considering he did that before? He wasn't exactly able to elevate UCLA last year, while the guy who took his place at Tennessee had a solid season.

Most of the guys after the top-5 on my list are typical year-in, year-out prospects. There's probably a diamond in there somewhere, but even then it might be hard to find. In no way am I going to bat for any of them at this point. Most (if not all of the "other" list) are not going to make it. I just listed them for discussion.

The top-5 I think are legit prospects, which is a LOT for a normal year. I probably put all 5 of those guys higher than the kid from Alabama this past draft who got picked up by the Rams. They all have 10-12 more games of film to put up in college for things to become clearer, but I do think the potential for us to find a franchise caliber guy in the top-15 picks of the draft are there. I'm hoping for a top-10 pick this year, but we will see.

I don't really want anyone on the "other" list. That's spinning our wheels.

I will say this. If Saying can prove to me he can play in cold weather. If his hand doesn't measure something silly like 8 1/2" or something. If he's not a "glove guy", then that's my target.

I think he and McCarthy could be VERY good for each other. I think Manning and Moore go #1 and #2 next year. Probably the Jets and Cardinals in the mix. Maybe Cleveland. Maybe another team. It would be tough to us to get either of them unless the wheels really come off this year.

We find a trade partner. Get where we need to get on draft day and sneak Saying at the right spot and I'm happy. I know he is undersized, but his frame is okay. He can get to 215 as he ages. And he has west coast style written all over him. And McCarthy could coach him up big time.

My expectations really depend on where we end up in the draft and who eventually comes out. Saying might just stay at school another year. Manning might refuse to come out if the Jets or Cleveland have the #1 overall pick. Who knows what happens.

Sayin would be breaking the mold. There just aren't many good QBs in the NFL under 6'2", especially without special traits in terms of his arm or legs. You would really be banking on his processing and accuracy being special compared to other prospects.

Like the rest of next year's draft class, analysts are expecting a lot of growth from these guys this upcoming year. Seems like Sorsby was a day 3 prospect from most NFL teams with an outside chance of going in the third.

Just remember his OC this year is Art Smith.. Makes ya wonder how it will affect him
