I'm calling this right now....

My bad...Shorts is out, but Allen Hurns is playing and is Allen Robinson. Dont know much about Robinson, I thought there were people on this board that wanted to draft him. Either way, is anyone confident that our secondary can stop anyone? That our DL can get pressure? They go hand in hand....without pressure I think Bortles could pick us apart. Throw in a bad Steeler turnover which always seems to happen in these **** opponents game and were down on the road just like that. I've seen this script too many times with Tomlin as coach.

Someone commented earlier that if we lose back to back weeks to 0-3 and 0-4 teams.....maybe the Rooney's would start paying attention. God I hope so!

I doubt they lose this week for just that reason. Tomlin and the team will circle the wagons. He IS a player's coach after all. They'll get a win to keep the ice cream sandwiches comin'.

They should be ashamed of themselves if they lose back to back games to winless teams. Jax is a horrible mess right now. Yea, I know they have a player or two that isn't horrible but that's no excuse for losing to this pile of crap.

Cowher would sometimes lose to teams with crappy records too, but that was because Cowher was a Martyball disciple. Good or bad Cowher was going to keep the game manageable and make sure things were winnable at the end. My problem with Tomlin is you can SEE him on the sideline and he looks like he has no freaking idea whatsoever what to do. He has a complete deer-in-the-headlights look about him. Cowher at least had a plan that sometimes didn't work out. Tomlin looks like he's got his guys out there playing rec-ball.

Here we go again with the body language crap. The man has some big *** eyes. You guys see what you want to see.

I have no idea what to expect from the Steelers. Thought they'd keep the Ravens game close. Thought they'd get crushed by Carolina. Thought they'd beat Tampa by at least two scores.

Who the **** knows which team will show up this week?

I do know that Bortles scares me a whole lot more than Chad Henne. And keep an eye on Clay Harbor (the guy is an absolute steal on FanDuel this week at $5K). The Steelers don't cover tight ends well, and he has a good rapport with Bortles.

What do you think they do at practice?

Not enough that they take it to heart. That my be because they don't respect Mr Tomlin anymore.

That doesnt even make sense

We are averaging over 14 penalties per game. This includes 12 penalties that were declined. That is whack.

Only 3 players are averaging 1 or more penalties per game (Allen, DeCastro and Taylor). Allen had 4 over two games for a total of 5 penalties. I guess the point is, you don't, really, have any serial offenders.

Overall, prior to this year, penalties per game (accepted penalties) have not been significantly different under Tomlin than they were the last seven years under Cowher. A stat line on a game the other day said that penalties league wide are up 25% (I think it was) from the prior year. I think that was during week 4, so probably only included the first three games.

If you were averaging 5-6 penalties last year, you are now averaging 6-7 penalties per game. We went from 5.7 accepted penalties per game last year to 11, where you would expect 7.1, using a 25% increase. We just kicked it up a notch! Overachieving, if you will....

2007 7th in penalties 4.6 per game
2008 21st 6.1 per game won superbowl
2009 10th 5.3 per game
2010 23rd 6.3 per game loss super bowl
2011 17th 6.3 per game
2012 6th 5.8 per game
2013 5th 5.0 per game
2014 4 games in 31st 11.0 per game

I must have been looking at 2012 to get 5.7/game. 5 is right for last year.

Wasnt trying to correct you just posting all the years.

I didn't see a replay of Heyward's unsportsmanlike call. Anyone see what happened? I'd expect it was from ragging on the ref for blowing a blatant hold, but I wonder if it was from contacting the ref or verbally assaulting him?

That particular penalty and DeCastro's (Carolina game?), I don't give a **** about. They don't show disrespect for anyone other than the ref and one player, who deserved it in both instances.

Yeh, I saw the same thing but they never showed the confrontation. He was definitely complaining to the ref about the NO-HOLD/NO FOUL on Spence...he was right next to them the whole play.. Evidently he wasn't too happy and maybe said some bad words out-loud.

Bunch of little girls on this board...

"Oh we suck so much!! We are gonna lose!!! Wah Wah!! Sand up my Vi-jay-jay!!!"

Way to put them in their place, Superfan....................

Tomlin is a poor coach and the record is speaking for itself the last 3 years.

If we come out and try to run the ball we are going to at least make it close. When a team is brutal in the secondary, we need to be a pass first team. When a team is bad against the run, sure rush away, but when you have a team like Jacksonville who is clearly abysmal when it comes to coverage and tackling in the secondary, you must exploit it, not score style points with steelernation by playing old school football.

So you're saying Haley is going to run it down their throats????

I'm not a grammar Nazi but damn you're killing me. Pints? Weather? and theirs'... all in one sentence is too much :)

Dude, I'll putting down some pints. Guaranteed!

While everyone likes to point to coaching as the main reason we are losing these games to weaker opponents, dont overlook the fact that theres some sort of indictment on the man we call our "franchise" quarterback. So, is it safe to say without a stellar defense our quarterback cannot get this team over the hump. Our offense has weapons like its never had with an all pro top 3 WR, a pro bowl TE, and young up and coming soon to be pro bowl caliber receiver in Wheaton and what most here believes is a top 5 RB and we cant seem to muster enought points to overcome our suspect defense. We should be lighting up scoreboards week in and week out...............

But that goes back to Tomlin i guess..**** it, why stop at Mike...blame Rooney. Goodell..........

Coaches coach..players play. Fans *****. If we lose to Jville whether its a missed FG or two errant passes that get intercepted or a fumble or safety, the blame will fall on coaching...around here, it always does. Head coach in headphones somehow becomes responsible for a missed kick or bad snap or a dropped pass.

You mean the QB that has kept us close to .500 by playing his *** off and getting his brains bashed in because of a sorry excuse of a ******-assed line? Ya, blame him, that piece of crap Cracker........

Wouldn't it be a lot more fun to acquire a bunch of losses before frantically racking up just enough wins to almost make the playoffs but barely miss them, say by a field goal, in the last moments of the season?

Look at my season prediction thread - that is exactly what I forecasted.

So pointing out realities that this team is horrifically inconsistent and can't seem to beat losing teams means you're "girly" and have "sand up your vi-jay-jay"?

The Steelers will continue their recent pattern of winning every other week. Obviously it's a more consistent way to end up at .500 again, if you will, by playing situational football and we accept that and embrace that obviously and will make enough splash plays and popcorn to win this week.

But only if the hay got put in the barn.
