You mean the QB that has kept us close to .500 by playing his *** off and getting his brains bashed in because of a sorry excuse of a ******-assed line? Ya, blame him, that piece of crap Cracker........
Ben takes more punishment than he needs to....but thats mostly due in part to him holding on to the ball for extended periods of time--is it not ? It makes it look as though the line is poor and its not all that bad. Has there ever been a season, even under the old regime, where Ben had sufficient time to survey the field and launch ? He's taken a substantial number of sacks throughout his career because of his sand lot style of play. Hes taken less under Haley (recently) because Todd is calling plays that call for quicker releases. But if Ben wishes to resort to his old ways, he can do so but understanding his career can be shortened from the excessive hits.
I just get sick of hearing how everything falls on the coach and the players are exonerated from blame. They are, after all, the performers. Perhaps the better course of action is to bench those that make repeated mistakes. But with a limited number dressing and the drop off in talent substantial, coaches cant afford to do that.
But gettin back to Ben...if hes the franchise and the leader of this team, we NEED him to be all-world. We need him to play out of his mind......better execution in the redzone. Sharper accuracy on the long throws. Sustainable drives that move the chains. With our porous defense he needs to step up his play. Everyone on offense does (for that matter). If all we can muster on a good day is 24-27 pts, we are ****** because i dont trust LeBeau or this defense to devise ways to limit most opponents to under 20 pts which means we are at risk of losing every game if it comes down to the last drive of a game.
