I'm waffling on my pick

You can't compare Gentrys blocking with what Washington has to offer, if the kid can catch too then he is a huge target for KP in play action and or audibles against stacked boxes
He's still a luxury pick. A TE would be our 7th need, at best. Heck, drafting a No. 3 QB would be a higher need. Pure luxury pick and not needed.

You didn't read the posts then. We would be playing 2 TE sets, he would be an extra blocker/pass catcher weapon. If not then I agree it's a luxury pick

I question the O’Canada ability to use him properly. That fact alone is why many are saying luxury pick.

I get the attraction, but also see the bigger needs.

This brings me to the point of how do the STEELERS view the play of Dan Moore ? Some are saying they view his play favorably, and may not pursue that coveted LT early. I can see the TE pick, with a franchise LT still there as well. It’s a proven that OL isn’t nearly as valued as some here think. With the offseason moves to date, they may be done addressing the OL.

I saw a CBS 7 round mock. Had the Steelers taking Julius Brents CB. 67th rated pick. That **** better not happen.
In fact the first three picks have tge Steelers taking no one I would even consider.

Polls are just opinions to create clicks. Brents will be there at 49 if they want him. Personally, I'd use 49 on an ILB, and a corner at 80, if they don't gain extra picks by trading back. And if it were me, if value was there trading back 5 spots or so at 17, 32, and 49, I'd do it, using the extra mid to late round extra picks gained for depth.

Gentry is a good blocker and more than capable of getting out for some targets as he did last year. He is a huge target if they want to use him in the redzone more. The receiving part of his game is still improving. I can't see them drafting a TE high when they already have a TE1 and he doesn't seem to be worried about his concussions. TE, especially high is a luxury pick. I still just don't see it when they have so many true needs.
Personally I’d never call generational athletes “luxury picks”

Dude is bigger, stronger, faster and meaner than your supposed to be able to have in a TE.

I’d gladly take Big O at 32, pretty sure he’s gone by 49…heck he may be gone before 32.

Playmakers and weapons/mismatches the other team has to account for are essential and he’d up our total on the team…and we all know Mikey’s philosophy “weapons, weapons, weapons…who needs blockers if ya have weapons” I’m pretty sure weapons can’t be luxury picks in Mike’s world:

Saw it too, tough one for sure; https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft...ions-rams-falcons-among-teams-to-get-passers/
let's mock it

1.17 Porter Jr CB
2.32 Jack Campbell ILB
2.49 Mazi Smith DT
3.80 Tyler Steen OT
4.120 Tank Dell WR
7a. Incoom EDGE
7b. Stetson Bennet QB

I know, I know, waited till the 3rd round for the OT but all the guys were gone for our time to pick, the only one is Dawand Jones available at 1.32, but there's something about his weight that worries me, a lot.

He’s got great size and some freakish measurables. 17 might be high, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he goes in the first round.

At 17 I want measurable and production. This should be the 13th or 14th established prospect that is not a QB. There is no point rolling dice on this.

Vorhees is the injured kid right? he would lose this season

Yep but a 4th I thought for him was a pretty good bargain. Not like we will need G help this season.

Do you think Vorhees will be ready this year? Great potential for a later round.
I was thinking IR for the season. But a piece they can add to the trenches the following season. The more trench talent the better IMO.

I want the War Daddy with 17 not a smallish receiver. If they can't get a monster then I take CB. I'm using a third or at least no more then the 2nd 2 at receiver. They already have two very good players there.

I don’t see them taking Washington but it’d be a bold move… our running game would improve immensely. Washington pulling, trapping, straight ahead mono-a-mono in front of Harris be unstoppable. The pass protection would improve immensely put on the side of the best pass rusher and boom he is shut down. Red zone or 3rd down 7 yards to go he’d crush it. So if you want to improve the offense he might be the best solution. I like muth but he doesn’t excel at any one thing. He’s ok. Washington could be HOF. “Fortune favors the bold” but that said I don’t see them drafting him

Muuth is OK and Washington could be HOF? Wow, what a reach. Washington is currently a blocker that catches a few passes. Some don't think that will improve much and have even talked about him beefing up and switching to tackle. He would have no chance at the HOF unless he improved 10X. Muuth is a stud and is still getting better. Most already have him in the top 10 TE's but he's OK. LOL.

So wouldn't it be awe-inspiring to watch Canada use Muth as the decoy and have him block while Kenny fakes the jet sweep and looks at Washington being the one to run a sideline route?!!

I can absolutely see the Steelers drafting Mayer or Washington. I do think a blocking TE is a need. Gentry is just a guy. Freiermuth is a great receiver and average blocker. Supposedly Canada's system depends on good blocking TEs. If they drafted Mayer or Washington, then they could use PF as a slot WR and create mismatches.

TE is very deep in this draft. That's the biggest reason why I'd be surprised at drafting Mayer or Washington, because they may like a guy that could be available after Rd 4 like Strange from PSU or Schoonmaker from Michigan.

The Steelers are all in on improving this offense. They already made moves on OL and WR. Another TE helps both the run and pass game.

Respectively, i disagree. Matt Canada is still employed.

I think MUTH finished ranked 5 in TEs for 22’.

They'd be damn fools not to get the best LT with everything else they've done to upgrade the offense.

My drum has been beating this beat for a long time now.

Part of my worry is how they (STEELERS) view Dan Moore. I think they view him WAY more favorably than most here. Possibly enough to not address the LT issue that is so plainly seen by many.
