Initial thoughts on browns Game

Loss is mainly on the coaches. Arthur Smith called a horrible game. Maybe it's good they lost this game. It could wake them up to the fact they can't win every week scoring 18 points. You may have to throw the ball on 1st down sometimes and not wait around for the 30+ carries it takes to wear down the defense,

Browns were winning in the middle on short yardage yet the steelers kept trying to inside on short yardage. Just keep trying to wish it into existence.

Browns absolutely got away with mugging Pickens all game. Would have loved to see a replay of the Porter penalty for holding just to see what this crew deemed a flag.

ZERO targets for Mike Williams.

Do we need to have a Minkah conversation? I get it that he's patroling the middle and teams have been avoiding throwing there, but he had opportunities for plays today and made none. TE made some big catches in his area. Porter passed off Jeudy to him and Jeudy ran right past him.

4th down play with Fields in the game, Patterson splits out wide and Heyward in the backfield. Nobody thinks Heyward is getting the ball there so he doesn't sell a play fake, and it's not like he's some awesome lead blocker. Just put an extra OL back there to block, or put Najee or Warren to help sell a fake. Heyward seems to accomplish neither.

2 point conversion play is a fade to Patterson. He was moved to RB because he was a crappy WR. Why throw him a pass that requires great ball skills? You have Pickens, Muth and Williams who can be dangerous on fades.

I think the steelers win this game on a dry field. It seemed like the steeler DBs had trouble in the snow.

Steeler WRs still do nothing when Russ breaks the pocket. Herbstreit pointed that out a few times. I'm a guy on my couch and I know that when you're done running your route, you don't just stand there, you run to an open area for your scrambling QB. How do NFL WRs not know that. And how do NFL coaches allow their NFL WRs not to know that?

Steelers 3 losses are to 3 losing teams with a combined 34% win rate. Don't cry when you are on the road on the playoffs because you couldn't show up and beat crap teams.

If idiot Pickens is suspended they are cooked vs Bengals. Like I said in another thread. Best part of argument against Pickens is he will make your point within a week.

He hasn't had an INT since January 2023.

Honestly, one can say Watt needs to have a bigger impact as well. When is the last time he has had a typical TJ Watt game?
Watt's lack of production is due to the fact that he's constantly getting double and triple teamed. It's certainly not for a lack of effort on his part. This is where a good defensive coordinator can make a difference. Look at how Jim Schwartz moves Myles Garrett all over the field on Defense. He had 3 sacks tonight 2 from the right side and one from the left side. You gotta keep your opponent guessing because he is a guy you definitely need to account for on every play. It's part of the chess match that you play out there on Defense! This is where Teryl Austin needs to step in and put TJ in a better position to make an impact on Defense out there.

Just infuriating time and game management by Tomlin at the end of both halves:

1) The Steelers correctly call timeout with 1:27 left in the half with the Browns at 3rd-and-7 from the 17. Cleveland runs it up the middle for one yard, and inexplicably, on 4th-and-6, Pittsburgh doesn't use a timeout, and Cleveland bleeds another 35+ seconds off the clock by somehow convincing Mikey that they were going to run a play from scrimmage...when it was totally obvious to any serious football fan exactly what they were doing.

2) Why on God's green (or white) earth would you give Cleveland an extra down on a long 4th-and-1, and accept a 5-yard penalty? They showed the kicker ready to come out on the field, FFS. Then Tomlin blows a crucial timeout with 1:55 left in the game prior to the play...with the clock already stopped! Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

3) Once Cleveland has it first-and-goal on the 9 with 1:43 left, you let Chubbs score. You don't tackle him on the two yard line and let the Browns take another 40 seconds off the clock. You needed those precious seconds on the last drive.

I just cannot fathom that this guy has been a head coach in the NFL for 18 years now, and he still has NO CLUE how to manage the game in its most important moments. It's an embarrassment.

58 yard field goal attempt in this weather....uh ok

the early packages for Fields are less than impressive

way too many penalties to start this game off

terrible ******* first half for the offense

holy **** no offense....little defense

then BAM 2 TDs in 6 minutes

nice TD drive

herbig with a huge play

CA3 for 6

refs fuckinig refuse to call DPI in favor of a Steeler

way more passing than you would expect in a snow game

Defense getting turnovers when it matters

refs flat refuse to give Pickens a PI call

**** **** ****

what a terrible time for a ****** ******* punt

******* defense just can't get a stop

**** what a ****** ending

******* **** **** fucj
You forgot to add MG had more of a impact on the game then TJ had. MG played a chip on his shoulder. Double teams of TJ are starting to really impact this defense.

2) nobody saw the kicker come out onto the field except apparently you...they were lined up to go for it on fourth and they likely would have gotten it considering the Steelers couldnt stop them all night on fourth (4/4). Even if they kick the fg and make it they know they've left the Steelers enough time to go down the field and kick their own field goal...just under 2 minutes. Thats plenty of time for RW/JF to get the team into fg range so they weren't going to kick it. At the end of the day If that punt is kicked cleanly none of us are having this conversation. It was an unfortunate event for a team that I hope starts to reel it in down the stretch.

I never said the kicker came out onto the field, chief. I said he was ready to, and they showed that moment on television. Apparently you need to read what I said again, and then watch it again. There was mass confusion on that play. Maybe Hopkins didn't realize it was still third down, eventually, but he certainly seemed prepared to go in and kick.

I would really like an explanation why that was illegal touching and not intentional grounding.
It looks as if it had NOT BEEN illegally touched it would have been possible to call intentional grounding. Since it was touched illegally that took precedent

Thank GOD we are about to see then end of DEI hires.
Don’t bet on it. Rooney’s are likely to hire the first female HC in the NFL. They are responsible for the Rooney Rule and will also be known for the Coochie Rule

That would be interesting loop hole. They got screwed on that play. And for record I've seen qb under duress and intentional grounding called a million times.

So many bad things down the stretch.
16 yard punt
Fields throwing the bomb on 3rd and 4
If the lineman hadn’t touched the ball it would have been intentional grounding.
No call on the contact with Pickens on last play.
Wilson also speared on last play.
The OL illegal touching superseding intentional grounding is just stupid

in the future just throwing it to an OL a much better idea than taking the grounding penalty.

The worse penalty should be applied like every other damn penalty scenario. Loss of down and more yardage lost is negated for a simple 5 yard loss and replay the down?!?! Flawed system

It’s almost like they can’t even fathom moving TJ around to work around that, I mean adjust/coach the squad to success

What difference does it make that he was ready to as you say? Still nullifies your point since they weren't kicking anything. You were just rambling for nothing. You mean because the camera man panned to the kicker that means he was ready? No the cameraman panned to the kicker because he's the kicker o wise one. Doesn't mean Cleveland had any intentions of kicking anything.

This team just didn't have it tonight. There were tight ends running wide open on Clevelands side throughout the night. The game probably should have ended worse then it did because of all the blown assignments. Minkah who failed to run with the receiver after Joey got rubbed on the play in question hasn't done anything all season. They most certainly should not be renewing his contract when it comes up the way he's playing unless he takes a big paycut.

There was terrible play calling on offense. They have absolutely no idea how to utilize fields properly. I hate to say it again but that shanked punt could not have happened at a worse time. That should tell us all we need to know that this night was just not meant to be.

All we know is cleveland was lining up to go for it. They could have tried to draw us off- sides or go for it. They also could have ran a different play or we could have ran a different coverage than 3rd and 7. Regardless they still gave the Browns an extra down

Fire everyone and Fire Tomlin twice. The sky is falling.

1st Place AFCN you sopping wet vaginas. Go to the bathroom and fire the retard in the mirror. Your family will love you for it.

Somebody was giving me **** the other day in one of the FB groups when I said I'd be glad when Dan Moore is gone and Broderick Jones could move back to LT where he belongs. :D:D:D

I have yet to hear directly that the illegal touching actually supercedes the intentional grounding. I dint believe that I believe they viewed it as borderline intentional grounding and he was definitely in contact with "upstairs". My argument as it applies to all of this is how does "upstairs" decide to intervene. I don't agree with them intervening at all. That's what challenges are for. But even so this wasn't a clearly dropped ball. This was all interpretation. Cost them the game unless they converted 4 and 15.

George Punching at Newsome after Newsome rode him all the way out of the endzone with no call once again.

Looks more like trying to push the guy off him than a legit punch, an extension of the arm to get some separation…sure. Doesn’t really **** and unload tho. But it’s on X so ya know it’s garbage

He’d been getting mugged all game and then why not that play too? Ya know the refs won’t call it. Dude made zero attempt to play the ball and was pushing Pickens away clearly with the ball in the air…as always the zebra clowns didn’t disappoint

A consistent bunch they are, consistently garbage

when his right arm injury recovers and Jones is moved to LT he WILL be a better option than Moore, you sir are correct once again!
