Actually Seattle had a perceived below average line for quite a few of his years there. It was a constant complaint with the fans, along with the realization that Russ would hold on to the ball a little too long, not step up into the pocket and run right into sacks. The batted down passes are result because he cannot see over the line.
I’m sure Seattle had a better offensive line than the current Steelers. Once the pressure is on him he’s taking a huge sack or an int.
He does show promise in playaction/misdirection and bootleg plays. Why are those are not more implemented ?
I would also like to see more seam routes to Muth and Washington.
Coaching is leaving a lot of talent to be left to dry on the table imo
All time sack leaders. Tom Brady—565 sacks 335 games played Aaron Rodgers 564/246
Russ Wilson 556 in 198 games. He will smoke the sacks record in the fewest games by far. It’s a big reason Seattle was done with him. Total drive killers. By the way…Ben 554 in 249 games.
Yes of course that’s why the ball gets batted down. It’s why you should always have a QB at least 6’2”
Playaction…..I think pretty well every person on this board has been calling for that for years.
Along with more passes to our TE’s.
Bootlegs…I agree but Russ is starting to look old. His runs today were successful, but he sure looked slow.
This isn’t intended to be a huge dish on Russ. He’s had his day in the Sun. Seattle in his glory years had a very good team. It certainly wasn’t all Russ. Marshawn Lynch. Walter Jones ,Tyler Lockett, in prime Richard Sherman and my favorite Kam Chancellor.
