I come here sometimes to talk football, and I also come here because for some reason, it does make me feel better when other fans commiserate with me when I point out glaring errors by the Steelers' "above average" coaching staff. No, none of us are NFL coaches. Neither are you, chief. It was definitely a game that featured some poor coaching strategy and decisions, but we've known all season that the Steelers would be in trouble if Pickens missed time due to the lack of another comparable talent at the position to pick up the slack. Yet, people are shocked and disappointed when the offense struggles like it did.
Scoring 27 points while beating the Browns without Pickens seemed to give fans unrealistic expectations regarding what the offense could do against an actual contending team.
Diontae Johnson might have been a prick, but being willing to tolerate it for one more season might have paid off at the present time.

Not everything is as cut and dry as it seems. It's easy for us to say what should have happened sitting at home from the comfort of our couches, but the circumstances, pressures, and distractions are a lot different from those sidelines.
For example when he chose to punt being down two scores. Hindsight is 20/20 with a lot of these decisions. I just watched a video on fb where a Detroit fan trashed Dan Campbell being down 2 scores with 11 min to go in the game and attempting a onside kick. A lot of Detroit fans posted frustration at DC going for what they believed was an unnecessary risk. I have to imagine his defense had been on the field just as much as the Steelers had with it being 38-28 at that point.
My point being if Tomlin had gone for it and failed sure enough there would be plenty of Steeler fans trashing Tomlin then just as much as Detroit fans have dragged DC despite both coaches doing commendable jobs to this point. My other point being it's not cut and dry as a decision as u make it out to be. You have two similar situations. Two teams down two scores with tired defenses, but with more then 10 minutes to play in the game. In one instance a coach decided to try and keep possession of the ball with a onside kick and got trashed by fans, and another a coach thought his special teams and defense could pin a team deep and force better field position. It didn't work in either instance. It is what it is. Sometimes things just don't go your way.

Some here are quick to label “hater” or “lover” when in actuality, most are just fans who can comment on both sides of good vs bad coaching. Labeling in broad brush strokes is petty as some here seem to be.
I can tell a good coaching game as opposed to a bad coaching game and I sure as hell can comment on either. We all have opinions and this board is a great place to express them as well as read them. If either side is so upset, then maybe some should visit / read / find a happy medium to enjoy. I would be fine with that, but he acts like his attitude now is a lot different then what it was after they won the SB. I highly doubt it then and I doubt it would be the case if they won it now. He just seems like the type who would credit everyone, but Coach Tomlin, and if he did credit him it would be "left-handed" or a lot of external attribution involved. You know what I mean??
