Jags Fire Urban Meyer

Lambo said something like "Don't ever f-ing kick me again" and Meyer responded that he was the head ball coach and could kick him when he wanted to. Lambo said it was not a full kick, but not just a tap. 5/10 power
Meyer did not fly back with the team and that's when the grind incident happened.
Also you have him not calling kickers / punters by name. It's very disrespectful and degrading.
You can be a hard *** coach and still treat people with respect. Meyer just seems like a total prick all the way around
Not calling players by their first name? You mean like "one trick pony" ? Maybe he forgot the guys name at the moment. Happens all the time. Grind your axe all you want , but this is all dumb.

He sat Robinson for fumbling. Lots of coaches do that.
Meyer sat Robinson for fumbling but not his backup Hyde. He also didn't own it and seemed to place the move on the running backs coach.

Meyer was doomed to fail from the start. It was a terrible hire and completely wasted a year of Lawrence, plus wasted a first-round pick on Etienne when they already had a stud in Robinson. I bet they've already been in contact with Leftwich to see if he's interested in the job.

Would Leftwich be someone we might be interested in ?

Can we trade Tomlin to the Jags for a first-round pick?
Jim Rome Show gonna be good today, he loves bagging on Urb.
Theoretically the trade deadline only applies to players… id bet you could trade a coach whenever…

Lol but who would be the interim? Butler? Canada? My vote would be John Mitchell…

College coaches rarely if ever make it in the pros. The pros have parity and the coaches real power is far more limited. It's real easy to win when your team has significantly better talent than all but three teams on your schedule and it's a different deal when you have to handle players who have more job security then you do. When tge time finally comes please don't head down the College route though I don't see the Rooneys entertaining that idea.
I think if you're a college coach you need to be an NFL coordinator first. Not many college coaches have gone to being an NFL head coach and been successful.

I would hire him or Duce Staley tomorrow. Not because they're former Steelers but because they're good OC's.

why do you love "bagging" on urban?

Seems like a regular guy. You ***** about PC coolshades and his no nothing ways with great coach speak..

Do you really believe that Urban Meyer kicked the guy? Im sure it was in jest....if anything.

If the Jags wanted to fire him they had an easy way to do it with that vid of him getting rubbed on in the club.
Urban apparently was a douche to a lot of the staff and players, which can be ok to some point when you are trying to change the culture of an org, but he was part of the cultural issues… skipping out to play big man on campis, passing the buck for problems and not offering any sort of solutions that impressed the owner…

I mean the guy routinely left programs for selfish reasons and lied about it in college… he wasn’t exactly a paragon of excellent morals coming in…

It hasn't happened often but coaches have been traded. I think the coach has to approve it though. Tomlin himself has said "We want volunteers, not hostages."
I nominate myself for interim HC and I'll do it for half Tomlin's salary. Just that fact that we're in winter now and I wouldn't pass 90% of the time in bad weather makes me a better HC.

Plus game time situational time outs and challenges would be in your favor as well, thus improving your better HC statis.......

Your bonus could be a luxury S10. I know where to get one

Thanks but I'm a Ford guy. Have a 2020 Ranger that will break the tires loose at 35 mph when the turbo gets spooled up. Good times. :car:

The Urban Legend continues........... lots of spare time, cash ................. ah and lap dances

Read an article containing six possible replacements. All six were offensive coordinators. I'll let you guess who wasn't listed among them, stunning as it may be.

College coordinator or position coach to nfl coordinator to HC yes. But no one is going from college HC to nfl coordinator or position coach. That is a lateral move.

Nobody rocks a track suit better than the Deuce. He is a positional coach correct?
Offensive coordinator with Detroit. Granted they're not so hot this year but he was the RB coach and assistant HC with the Eagles when they won the Super Bowl.

Here's a thought. (forgive the momentary political interjection, it is used to make a point.) Kamela Harris was told by her former extramarital boyfriend Willie Brown NOT to accept the VP nomination as it was a road to nowhere politically. He said she'd never get another meaningful gig. (Seems he may be more politically savvy than Harris by a long shot.)

At what point do O and D coordinators on the rise say "No Thank You" to the Steelers because they realize Mike Tomlin (literally) has no coaching tree. As far as I know, he hasn't produced one single subordinate who's ever advanced their career elsewhere.

Stats guys? What's the situation there?

I would think Leftwich is in play for head coach of Jacksonville after this season. At least be their Rooney Rule interview. Ex-player, is gaining a pretty good reputation, currently in a winning program, offensive side of the ball. Kind of checks all the current boxes.

Can I get a link? I'd like to read that article

Leftwich to Jacksonville is the easiest coaching move of the offseason. He should be at the top of Jacksonville's list, the question will be whether he wants to go to the Jaguars. Whatever move they make, they need a coach who can develop Lawrence into a franchise QB.

Those franchises are tough to turn around but if you want to be an HC you can't wait for a dream job because names can drop from the top quick. They have a young qb prospect they need to get going quick.

Ken whisenhunt famously interviewed for and was offered the Raiders HC job while OC here and turned it down because he said it was a career killer… he just wanted the interview experience lol

I think Munch leaving here for a lateral move was extremely telling

Bruce Arians… promoted to oc here and eventually made HC… he is considered part of the tree despite being forced out here

I think Tomlin handcuffs the OC a lot

I think Arians was a Cowher holdover, was QB coach under him then OC under Shades, but yeah.
