James Harrison Released

What really burns me is as I think of Tomlin dissing deebo is that this is the guy who thought that Vick would be a good fit for this team. What a wasted effort that was. But sure, cut a legend who is begging to contribute.

Deebo dissed himself. I think you meant to say Tomlin cut a legend who was doing his best to wreck a locker room. I still wonder if Bell and Bryant weren't taking cues from him when they started actually like petulant children early in the year. By all accounts, Deebo's attitude was terrible from the start of the season. Good riddance.

Contribute how?? To the point where you have to change the whole scheme for him. He cant play the position. A whole new scheme has to be put in so he can play. He has to play as a DE. We dont do that. Based on formation our OLBs have coverage responsibilities. So again unless you are changing the whole scheme to accomodate one guy he wasnt going to play. And the only way to justify that is if you arent getting pressure and sacks. We are in position to break the single season sack record as a team

You want to sit TJ Watt for a 39 year old Deebo?

It was ok when it was Uncle Jarvis watching but what we've seen with Watt is beyond impressive. I believe there was a stat where he has dropped into coverage more than any OLB in the league this year. Think about that, Watt dropping into coverage more than any OLB and then when you sub him out for Deebo you lose that capability. Ask yourself again why he was inactive and not getting reps when he did suit up?

My rose-colored glasses must have been extra strength or something. That's hard to stomach but good riddance is right I guess. Sigh.

Exactly my point Hines. You are or have to change everything to play him. Because its definitely not a plug and play situation

NO!

WE wanted to sit Jarvis Dupree, put Harrison on his side - and keep TJ where he is - it worked against the Ravens, so the Steelers stopped that immediately

I don't think Harrison can play the strong side as well. Watt can play there. I was always fine going Watt ROLB and Harrison LOLB, just like the last play against Baltimore...

Then you are making a team who lost a ton of speed with Shazier's injury even slower by subbing Harrison for Dupree. If this was just a sacks issue then maybe. Its not.

They flipped TJ to the strong side on that last series. I was in the stadium and that last sack was right in front of me. It still involves putting Deebo on the field where he may potentially have to cover

Well we'll never know now if any of that could have helped. The defense is gonna be exploited by every team we face, whether in the running or passing game, that much seems certain.

Just get out your holy Ben shrines and start making sacrifices now - just hope he can keep putting up the points - we'll need 30+ and 40+ to win this thing probably

It's gonna be ALL on the offense

We won 12 games so far we only put up over 30 points 4x your logic is flawed.

Harrison won’t be missed.

Compare Deebos final Steeler season to that of the Bus. He was also determined to be finished and dead weight by most. I never believed it. Was it total homerism? Obviously 😁

As far as Harrison, I do believe that it's at least possible that they dissed him badly before his malaise. That is not to excuse his bad behavior. It was his choice to not remain engaged and positive.

I think both sides could have handled it better. Deebo could act like an adult and the team could have played him a little more.

Those three are the best playmakers we have on defense, but it's good to see Haden back in the secondary, maybe he can stop the huge blown coverages we've been seeing

Well, as long as he shows Artie Burns how not to blow zone coverages. But I read a blurb that said Steelers DEF ANY/A (adjusted net yards per attempt) is 5.1 and when Haden went out it skyrocketed to 6.6. So the guy truly is a huge difference maker. To limit Hopkins the way he did after all that time he missed was pretty remarkable.
