There's a tear in my beer watching the joe Greene a football life on the nfl network and I ask why and the hell we don't run the 4-3 stunt now. But really how awesome was the old steel curtain and mean joe Greene.... GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!

Just saw it today - that is the way football is supposed to be played! Joe just dominated a game. Unfortunately, nowadays with all the rules, he'd have had a tougher time of it.

I think a guy like Greene would be an all-pro no matter what era he played in. I do think however that a lot of the fat *** run stoppers of past eras would never make it in today's game. Joe Greene could do both... He was just as good at pressuring the QB as he was at stopping the run. My could we use a guy like him right now.

Saw it on Friday on thought it was great, he's just a cool guy and is very genuine. It was also cool to see that he stays in touch with the kid and his family from the coke commercial.

He'd get fined every week under today's rules lol

One thing that a lot of folks don't realize is in addition to being talented Joe Greene was also a bit bigger than his competition. He had talent and size plus desire. Joe Greene was a great ball player who was likely held as much as Harrison was in his era. I remember watching one game at my grandfathers house and my grandfather was bitching a blue streak about all the holding and how it wasn't being called. The Steelers linemen had a great many torn and ripped jerseys in that game. That was back when Pittsburgh had a Post and a Gazette for any that are curious, there was also a bread called Town Talk and Bob Prince was the voice of the Pirates.

Salute the nation

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Mean Joe at a golf outing in Ft. Lauderdale when he was working with the Dolphins. I was surprised at how pleasant he was to be around. For all his "mean" hype, non of that came out in his demeanor. I enjoyed that program, lotsa good memories from that era.
