Let the Mocks begin.......

I am not even sure Harris was overdrafted for a team that had an oline in place. I think he would have been drafted by someone else right after us.
His vision is not good. This year is the first year he ran like a power back. I think he’ll be fine wherever he ends up but he’s not a stud. Just solid. I think if a team is smart they’ll put some incentives in broken tackles and yards after contact in his contract. He seems to need inventive to use that 245lb frame like he should.

I just don't believe Jeanty would have the impact you believe he will with the current state of the Steelers roster.
Fair enough. I believe he’s the best running back to come out since Barkley. And I did really like Gibbs and Robinson.
Having a great runner does not correlate with team success as much as it once did. What did the Giants accomplish with Barkley? What have the Colts done with Jonathan Taylor or the Falcons with Bjian Robinson?
Well, without Barkley they’re a 3 win team. My guess is without Taylor Colts probably would be lucky to win 3. And I don’t think the Lions go 3-0 down the stretch without Gibbs. I know Harris averaged 3.5 down the stretch for our losing streak.

One dimensional running backs like Harris are dinosaurs and really don’t have a place in most offenses. Besides the Ravens who use different backs in different situations. But Jeanty is a guy who can change the dynamic of an offense. We have a good run blocking offensive line. Especially in the middle. Between Warren and Jeanty I could see 3000 all purpose yards between the two. If you put that with our defense and if either Fields can step it up or a draft pick at QB we could have a formidable offense.
The thing is I don’t see us getting a blue chip QB like Ben anytime soon. We aren’t picking top 5 anytime soon so we need to put a team around a good quarterback. I think if our running game wasn’t so stagnant a guy like Wilson would have been enough to do some things. Now Russ probably headed to Vegas with Carroll so I say lets give Fields a few more weapons and draft a guy that has upside.
The Vikings never won much with Adrian Peterson.
Look at the years he ran for 1500+ vs the years he got hurt and ran for 75.
Gibbs is part of a stacked offense in Detroit.
True but they needed his 3 game performances to end the season.
I'm not necessarily advocating position over quality. Just that there is almost always more value for a team in the first round at a position other than RB.
There was no one better on the board. Even the website had him ranked 5th best. I don’t think I could pass up a top 5 player at any position at 21.
It's probably a moot point anyway, as Jeanty will probably go top 10, though I don't think that he should, regardless of how good he might be.
Likely. I think if he gets past the Raiders he could fall but we’d probably have to get ahead of Denver to draft him. But it’s the way it fell. And to be honest if he was available at the late teens I probably start calling teams to try to move up.
Regarding Pickens, I agree that there "should" not be a question about his future with the team, but there is and lot of that his due to his own antics and attitude. There is always a big risk committing a bunch of money to someone like him.
My only concern is the lack of utilization of him to keep him focused. Tomlin does not have the brains to keep George involved to keep his antics at bay. Which is insane considering we have no other playmaker on offense. He’s literally the only playmaker we have. It’s almost like he’s trying not to make big plays on offense. Like he’s allergic to chunk plays.
He might not even want to resign with the Steelers, given some of the frustrations he has shown.
I wouldn’t be shocked if this is the case.
Either way, the Steelers should prepare as if he won't be on the team beyond next season.
I was too. The WR position this year looks to be very deep but no real super stars. Nick Nash imo would be a day one starter and Deion Burks should compete for time at the slot. I doubled up on that position knowing that we are weak and thin there. Now if Pickens is gone then obviously it becomes a much bigger need but I also don’t want to reach at WR earlier to just get a similar quality player.

Pickens is 100% gone after this year if not traded.

Problem is the Steelers need him way more than he needs what the Steelers have to offer.

The receiver core was below the line with him, trading away their best threat and it gets far worse.
So they’ll make another “all in” Tomlin push next year and if they are lucky AF will escape with another Tomlinship.

He wants zero part of being trapped in the Tomlin offense dumpster fire. He is now a 1 year rental or trade bait weakening an already weak position group.

Guessing he plays out the contract year and may bring a comp pick when he departs. They have too many holes as it is.

Again, double dipping on the DL with 2 guys that should propel our DL forward for years to come. I also snagged 2 WR's with speed and a RB with speed. Also grabbed some potential sleeper picks at CB, LB, and S. Can't wait to see the Senior Bowl and combine results. Things will get shuffled pretty good at that point and also with free agency.

I hope you are wrong. Unfortunately, it’s a very real possibility.

My hope is if we dangle a decent contract in front of him this offseason he bites.
The receiver core was below the line with him, trading away their best threat and it gets far worse.
So they’ll make another “all in” Tomlin push next year and if they are lucky AF will escape with another Tomlinship.
Without Pickens we probably need two more running backs to run 55 times a game. Or if we get lucky and grab up Tee Higgins but imo Higgins struggles without Chase.
He wants zero part of being trapped in the Tomlin offense dumpster fire. He is now a 1 year rental or trade bait weakening an already weak position group.
Unfortunately, you are probably correct.
Guessing he plays out the contract year and may bring a comp pick when he departs. They have too many holes as it is.
Yeah, I hate letting young talent walk for comp picks. Grave Digger and Sanders come to mind. Both deserved a second contract and so does GP

I need a new site to do mocks on, this one (NFLmockdraftdatabase) is clearly broken. My draft itself was average, but these trades are FIRE, especially the late round ones. Kahn artist was working his blackmail magic for sure!!!

that would give me a vast upgrade on the DL with Grant and Norman-Lott adding size, strength and youth. We could then employ three DTs after Cam retires, with Grant, Benton and Norman-Lott. Possible QB of the future in Dart.

I think I could live with this. Speed and athleticism along with some position versatility on the D and OL. Some potential late round gems if they are there. Egbuka and a good veteran WR (needed in FA) would be great for the WR room. If GP is back, a good veteran leader is needed to mentor him, Egbuka, and Roman Wilson. Goodwin leaving Tampa might be a good fit for the Steelers.

2026 would give us eight picks, our original first four rounds, and the ones listed here.

What I want from this draft:
A. early picks DT & WR
B. a Nickel CB in 2nd day that can spot start as safety too (round 3/4)
C. Mid rounds: a RB to share the load with Warren; a nasty senior OT with experience on both sides. Limited athleticism but with surefire floor.
D. CB, DL & WR projects with late picks .

Now if crazy talent falls in the first round at CB I'll take it but seriously doubt it @21.

Later on I'll do some mocks based on this plan

I am trying to figure out why people are high on Bond and low on Will Howard.

I think Howard might be a decent developmental type…

I really like this one, it doesn't land the big name DT, but we get younger and more athletic in several places AND sets us up nicely next year (only traded away a 7th in 26)

I'm not down on Howard, but if I miss him while I'm wheeling and dealing, I'm not crying over it either. I'm more pushing chips to next years draft for QB. As for Bond, he has elite athleticism and would benefit greatly from Pickens on the other side, and vice versa.

probably because he was on the most expensive and best team with the best WR corp.

just my opinion.

I loved Gabriels accuracy.. and then i just heard he thew a ball 74 mph

couple trades, but that would be an ideal outcome.

WR 2 to start the season with WR 1 potential if Pickens leaves.
Future QB and DT
Ivey can be a developmental player for when TJ moves on in 2-3 years
Gordon has the size to be a RB1
Jenkins and Miller are underrated and can contribute
Rivers is likely developmental while McCoy could be a diamond in the rough. Last year was his first year back after a broken ankle, so his stats were down. Otherwise he'd go higher in the draft.

I believe Howard and McCords game are very familiar but from what I’ve seen.. I would give McCord the edge and select him over Howard..
IMHO..

So, Milroe has tiny hands like Pickett. Does this mean he is a no-go for the Steelers?

Hopefully they don’t over draft like Pickett. Milroe would be a solid 3rd/4th round prospect. There’s a few solid prospects in that area.

I hear his senior bowl practices haven’t went well.
Saw that yesterday as well. He couldn't hit the side of a barn in practice. He'll be plummeting down draft boards. I'm not sure if that's good or bad if the Steelers supposedly "love" him. Small hands and terrible accuracy on display is not a good combination unless they will just rely on his game film.

21- Ashton Jeanty RB Boise State
52- Mathew Golden WR Texas
83- Andrew Mukuba S Texas
121- Daylen Everette CB Georgia
161- Ty Robinson DL Nebraska
223- Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson OT Florida
229- Deion Burks WR Oklahoma
245- DJ Uiagalelei QB Florida State

Jeanty should step right in for Najee. Warren I would re-sign. Gives us two stud backs like Arthur Smith likes.

Golden is a burner and should immediately give us a legit number two on the outside of Pickens.

Mukuba is a ballhawk safety that if the team moves on from the disappointment of 2024 Fitzpatrick should fill those shoes nicely.

Everette is a fast outside CB. I would bring Jackson back if he would resign but Everette has starting outside CB upside.

Robinson is a high motor player with a great first step and commands double teams. Should make a replacement for Heyward in a year or two.

Crenshaw-Dickson has a ton of experience at both RT and LT. Immediate depth swing tackle who has potential to turn into a solid starter.

Deion Burks is another burner. Probably more of a slot guy but we really don’t have anything outside George so I double up at WR.

Uiagalelei Was the top overall player coming out of high school. He just never put it all together in college. I would resign Fields to an incentive contract, sign a veteran free agent to backup and spot start if injury or if Fields isn’t getting the job done. Mason Rudolph comes to mind 😉. Then draft a guy to develop. Can’t argue the talent of Uiagalelei but this late in the draft it is all upside.

I used mock draft database for my simulator.
We can dream, Kid looks unreal
After the past 5 years what first round talent RB is dreaming of playing in Pittsburgh for Arthur Smith?
