Maybe overly emotional Pickens has a point ...

Think your being just a bit harsh on the kid Sarge...
If Mitch. Rudy, throw in a couple of struggling young QB's in the league were the QB instead of Kenny..
Would the team have gone 7-4?

I would put it this way...
Kenny didn't UNLEAD the team to the 7-4 record....

His play was steady but unspectacular for sure....but he didn't F things up every week either.
The problem I have is the word lead. If you say he managed a 7-4 record, ok, I'll maybe buy that. But as Coryea said above, he wasn't winning us any games.

6 TD's and 4 INT's, he wasn't winning us games, missing open guys left and right, no pocket presence, I mean when you're scoring 15ppg and winning, it's your defense saving your ***.
I hear ya..
I know not the numbers that one needs from your starting Qb…although he is young and learning his trade…
However, there are worst ratios than the 6 & 4 numbers..
And if worse… I.e. see one Mitchell’s
No way do they play three games above .500… and possibly not lose to both 2 win teams at home if he was playing ..

Kenny led ****. He was a passenger to the defense and running game.
I will respectfully disagree. Purely using the lense of how bad this scheme is and how bad it has looked for multiple years I would be fine saying Kenny has lead the team to wins. It is all relative and a matter of perspective but he was very much leading us in the first half of this season late in games and last year as well. Is it what we want? no but it was better than what Mitch has given us. Again it is all a matter of perspective and how bad you feel the whole scheme is.

Pickens is a lot of hype without the substance at this point. He has a lot of developing to do before being a top-10 receiver. Who are you putting him ahead of?

Justin Jefferson
Ja'Marr Chase
Tyreek Hill
A.J. Brown
CeeDee Lamb
Keenan Allen
Amon-Ra St. Brown
Cooper Kupp
Stefon Diggs
Davante Adams
Mike Evans
Brandon Aiyuk
I wanna see Pickens with the QB's those guys have had or have

Your HS team if like mine got 4 real practice's a week plus a walk through. They also didn't have a CBA an union.
So the same situation that every other NFL team has to deal with. Not like Tomlin is the only coach that has to deal with the CBA and NFLPA.

None of them right now. But I believe in the right system with the right coach and QB, the guy would be a monster. He’s shown what he can do. Just wish he was more motivated to do it.
I don't see it. Not the same effort from Pickett that you get from that group. The receivers go out there and make sure the QBs have to target them because they are consistently getting open and making big-time plays.

Pros get more than HS, CBA or not, and it’s not close

When you consider the average NFL player puts in 40-60 hours a week on their craft have Mondays for med, Tue-Fri to practice, a walk through and not have HS grades to worry about (instead get awesome film to watch) and they are slower moving in learning a playbook/scheme than my HS team at learning things is laughable and IF true would tell you everything you need to know about the coaching

It’s not that hard, football plays and schemes are not rocket surgery and once a base of knowledge is present adding to that base/modifications to that base SHOULD be downright easy

The low INTs this year is great, but there are a bunch of bad QBs with more TDs.

Sam Howell 19 TDs 15 INTs
Justin Fields 14 TDs 8 INTs
Desmond Ridder 10 TDs 10 INTs
Mac Jones 10 TDs 12 INTs
Bryce Young 9 TDs 9 INTs
Tommy DeVito 8 TDs 3 INTs
Will Levis 8 TDs 4 INTs
Zach Wilson 8 TDs 7 INTs
Aidan O'Connell 8 TDs 7 INTs
Jake Browning 7 TDs 3 INTs
Joe Flacco 7 TDs 5 INTs
Kenny Pickett 6 TDs 4 INTs (13 TDs 13 INTs career - 25 games)
Bailey Zappe 4 TDs 4 INTs

The Steelers got their butts whooped the past three games. They maybe win one of those if Pickett is in there because they weren't scoring enough points in all three.

not on the practice field during the season.

there are so many nuances to be learned that obviously Canada didn't even bother teaching that it is darn near impossible to try and add them now from what I am seeing. Sure you could add some basic routes and they have but not the reads and progressions system they need as well as the adjustments they are not doing on routes and when they do they are not on the same page. Add more and it will be even worse.

I truly think it was that bad that they don't even have the fundamentals in place to do a true pro offense.

That's on Tomlin, not Canada. Tomlin hired Canada because he would do exactly what he said to do. This is Tomlins poor fundamental non-pro offense we're seeing. I have no clue why everyone was so happy Canada was fired because NOTHING was going to change, Tomlin is still calling the shots.
Keith Butler after "retiring" was on DVE or The Fan and said he would've liked to have the chance to call the defense during games but he didn't get to.

I love how 90% of the fans realize The team is total trash offense defense and even special teams. The fans can see how awful Pickett and trubisky have been, how badly the Steelers need different coaches an coordinators.

Imagine being Pickens or DJ or any receiver on this team. Their career is on the line and they are catching passes from guys that shouldn't even be in the NFL.

Fans are so mad because everyone sees the same garbage product every sunday. How mad would the fans be if like Pickens their livelihood was in jeopardy on top of it?

I try to see it big picture and put myself in Pickens shoes. He has been a decent to good player but absolutely will never reach his potential on this team with a bum like Pickett.

He isn't being used properly because he can't be used properly because the Steelers have no QB.

Him being frustrated is 1000% understandable.

I would bet every WR on this team would opt to be traded if they could because as a wideout the QB can make or break a career.
But he isn't getting a top contract from any team if he shows lazy routes and half assed blocking. Even in a ****** team he should show his abilities in whatever he can. He isn't

I'm happy because is one less scapegoat left.

I think even if you change out all offensive and all defensive coaching staff, you may still have a problem.

ONLY if, and that’s a big IF, Coach Tomlin can accept independent hires and operation of said coaching teams. That acceptance would hinge on how bad Tomlin wanted to remain a HC here.

Myself, I think we need a complete overall coaching change, including the HC.

Salute the nation
Definitely an entirely new coaching staff and a new attitude in the locker room. A continued infusion of young talent with plenty of speed at the skill positions as well.

Saying he hired him because he would do exactly as he says is pure conjecture on your part. It could be true or it may be pure fantasy. Defense maybe.
Yes it is on Tomlin, not for hiring him, I was ok with the hire, but for keeping him well past his expiration date. He waited too long even this year to do it. By waiting until after the bye he hamstrung the replacements not allowing them enough time to make more changes. I am not defending Tomlin here by any stretch. The point was it isn't as easy to make changes on offense like they need to be made during the season.

I am on record as a Tomlin supporter but I am not blind to his faults and as of right now they are getting worse. If he is willing to get a real OC and give them latitude I would let him play out his contract, if he is even willing to stay without an extension. He may not be. If not go get the guy from Detroit or maybe Bienemy. Hell go get Hines Ward for that matter.

Is it? Canada had 1 good season in college, he recruited Tomlin's son to Maryland. This offense looks identical to Fichtner's, nothing downfield, nothing over the middle, throw short and safe, another Tomlin pal, another Tomlin hire. Tomlin took control from a HOF DC in LeBeau, he absolutely is highly involved in the offense. Why didn't he hire a real OC instead of Canada or Fichtner?

Who knows. I didn't say you were wrong only that it is pure conjecture. I prefer to try and judge him on the provable facts and stay away from conjecture like that.

BS. When **** don't go your way you pout, act like a two year old, don't do your job and give half *** effort. You're either in 100% for TEAM or you're a me person. **** everyone else.

It doesn't matter what anyone else does, it matters what you do. You and you alone are responsible for your actions and the results of your actions.

Wow!! A hall of famer outplayed a barely second year QB with a struggling scheme? I m shocked I tell you, Shocked! He also did so by calling a lot of his own plays late in games and saying screw this to the OC.

Agreed, comparing or expecting Kenny to be Roethlisberger is ridiculous...But what is concerning is that almost every back up QB in the league that has been thrust into a starting role looks miles ahead of Pickett.

So the same situation that every other NFL team has to deal with. Not like Tomlin is the only coach that has to deal with the CBA and NFLPA.
And how many try to and successfully change the entire scheme or make major changes to it during a season, few to none. And those that have probably had a better foundation to start with than crayon scribblings.

In a far better system. No one has looked good in this system. Ben only looked good when he went off script in this debacle.

Who decided to keep the scheme after the last 2 years? Who allowed his OC to have a high school play book? Who allowed the crayon scribblings in the first place. Nobody is asking or expecting them to change a scheme of make major changes in season. The first game after we fired Canada, we got our TE involved, threw over the middle...then it magically stopped. You ever think that this whole crayon scheme is TOMLIN'S scheme that he believes in?
