Mock Draft Thread - 2017

Before the draft a pick up a free agent OLBer and CB

Your score is: 11178 (GRADE: B+)

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 30: Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan (A)
Round 2 Pick 30: Chris Wormley, DT, Michigan (B+)
Round 3 Pick 30: Zay Jones, WR, East Carolina (C+)
Round 3 Pick 41 (COMP): Tyus Bowser, OLB, Houston (A+)
Round 4 Pick 28: Davis Webb, QB, California (B+)
Round 5 Pick 29: Josh Reynolds, WR, Texas A&M (C)
Round 6 Pick 29: DeVeon Smith, RB, Michigan (A-)
Round 7 Pick 30: Ezra Robinson, CB, Tennessee State (B)

Your score is: 10647 (GRADE: B)

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 30: Haason Reddick, OLB/ILB, Temple (A-)
Round 2 Pick 30: Adoree' Jackson, CB, Southern California (A)
Round 3 Pick 30: Zay Jones, WR, East Carolina (A)
Round 3 Pick 41 (COMP): Fabian Moreau, CB/FS, UCLA (B-)
Round 4 Pick 28: Davis Webb, QB, California (B+)
Round 5 Pick 29: Josh Reynolds, WR, Texas A&M (B)
Round 6 Pick 29: DeVeon Smith, RB, Michigan (A-)
Round 7 Pick 30: Ezra Robinson, CB, Tennessee State (C-)

Round 1 Pick 30: Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama (A-)
Could potentially go from the weakest position on the team to the strongest. Height, weight, size and pedigree here.

Round 2 Pick 30: T.J. Watt, OLB, Wisconsin (A+)
Again, another pedigree pick. Watt is a better athlete than given credit for but what sets him apart is his non-stop motor. If he was around in the second this late I would be shocked.

Round 3 Pick 30: Chris Godwin, WR, Penn State (A-)
Godwin reminds me of Anquan Boldin in the way he uses his body and high points the jump ball. I did not expect 4.42 speed from him so he has that extra gear needed on deep routes.

Round 3 Pick 41 (COMP): Bucky Hodges, TE, Virginia Tech (A+)
Hodges tested very well and that is after three very productive years at VT. Again, doubt he falls this far.

Round 4 Pick 28: Josh Jones, FS, NC State (A)
Again, big, strong, fast and productive. He and Sean Davis would make a nice tandem in the secondary.

Round 5 Pick 29: Jeremy McNichols, RB, Boise State (A+)
McNichols turned some heads at the combine showing his strength, speed, and agility was not just him playing vs inferior competition.

Round 6 Pick 29: D.J. Jones, DT, Ole Miss (C)
Jones is a bubble butt NT with some lateral quickness.

Round 7 Pick 30: Blair Brown, ILB, Ohio (C-)
Brown is a speedy ILB who knows how to take good angles and get backs down behind the line of scrimmage.

Round 2 Pick 30: Adoree' Jackson, CB, Southern California (A)

Round 7 Pick 30: Brendan Langley, CB, Lamar (TX) (C)

I wonder how you draft Switzer in the 5th round and get an A- and I draft him in the 6th and get a B...........WTF

FIRST MOCK. Post combine

My new mock draft

Round one: OLB Watt: he worked over very well showing explosive power in his legs for vertical and agility drills. Production and character are excellent, and he has a longer frame ( 33+ inch arms ).
Watt's last year of college's production is superior to Dupree's and the combine I think is very comparable!

Round Two: CB Jordan Lewis. Fast, athletic, and offers tight coverage. With Gay aging and we have nothing proven behind him. A slot corner is needed. Lewis gets his hands on lots of passes. If Lewis was 6 feet tall he'd be a first-round pick, but he's not that short at 5'10".

Round three: TE Jordan Leggett. Big, Tall, and productive. Plays in line or can be split out wide. Probably better upside than James, who has improved. The Steelers need depth at this position.

Round three B ( Comp pick ) : QB Davis Webb. Webb stood out at the senior bowl practice and he game. He's big, has a good arm, and some mobility. The knock is he's a little inexperienced, but from a tools perspective, I have a 2nd grade on him, even if he needs to read coverage a bit better. Landry Jones is not an ideal backup, and Ben is already hinting about retiring, so I take a shot on a QB here.

Lewis is a damn good ball player. He would be a good get. He would also be exactly what Golson is, a slot corner. We just can't count on Golson. I doubt Lewis is on the board at the end of round 2.

TJ Watt had a good year for Wisconsin last year. That could be an interesting pick.

Round 1 Pick 30: Tim Williams, OLB/DE, Alabama (A-)
Round 2 Pick 30: Adoree' Jackson, CB, Southern California (A)
Round 3 Pick 30: Fabian Moreau, CB/FS, UCLA (C+)
Round 3 Pick 41 (COMP): Chris Godwin, WR, Penn State (A)

Round 5 Pick 29: Ryan Switzer, WR, North Carolina (C+)
Round 6 Pick 29: DeVeon Smith, RB, Michigan (A-)
Round 7 Pick 30: Calvin Munson, OLB, San Diego State (C-)

First draft since the combine, using first pick, no trades. I wasn't going for a score, just players I think would help our team the most. It's hard to know what the Steeler true evaluations will be, the mock sites are all over the place with grades, projected rounds and how they might fit in the NFL. Example: first pick has Derek Rivers listed as a DE and he wasn't drafted until the middle of the 3rd round. If our draft goes like this sim did, I would be extremely happy!

Round 1 Pick 30:*Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama (A-)

everything looks dandy except for Ejuan, there must be better value in other positions, LB, CB, TE

He's not Tim Williams. Next!

We already had Tim Williams!

The knock on Watt on the link you gave was: " Not overly twitched-up as an athlete. "

Watt's vertical, broad jump and short 20-yard shuttle dispell that BS! This guy is very explosive in the legs and showed excellent side to side agility. Compare them to the other LB's at the combine and you'll see.

In some ways Watt might be the safest OLBer available come 30.

if Lawson is there I prefer him than Watt, instant plug & play

I'd take this draft in a heart beat. Shore up the D with 1st 3 picks. Get a good TE in Rd. 3 and a steal at WR in the 4th. And, then, Mathis in the 6th for a 2nd edge guy is an absolute steal again. The dude will probably be gone by our 3rd round pick yet no one on this thing ever picks him. Then you have a good No. 2 back in Conner and a corner in round 7 that has good upside. Put him on the practice squad and he might be a baller in a year or two.

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 30: T.J. Watt, OLB, Wisconsin (B+)
