MSN takes no prisoners with Tomlin

Rooney likes the sound of never a losing season. He will also like 200 wins. It's all fluff.

Contraire, clanking of coin and the shuffle of currency is Rooney’s favorite sound.

Tomlin’s is more in line with your statement.

Of course the two goo hand in hand, the two men and the four noises.

With each set of sound bite the other sound bite prospers.

I’m too lazy to look it up, but will this current contract get him to those two ,limestones…….??? I sure hope so.

I think he needs 10 wins to pass Noll. And then seven more to reach 200. So it is possible he reaches both milestones next season.🤪

17-1 and he is gone !!!! I’ll take it.

My trailer court ladies have used that line of thinking many a time. I think it’s their hand but I have my eyes closed……..

AS long as Coolie was not visiting

That’s a case of they have to close their eyes……….. when he’s around………..

I wish. Tomlin has 191 wins. Noll has 209, so he needs 18 more to surpass Noll. That's 3 more seasons, at least

19-1

Could do the trick…………

I believe Tomlin had 183 and Noll 193. Regular season is what we are talking about anyways.

Ok but that's irrelevant. The only thing that matters to the Rooneys and to Tomlin (and to the sports media world) is all-time wins

The Steelers not playing any of the best 5 or worst 5 teams in the NFL next season? That's the only way 17 wins to get to 200 next season is possible.

I couldn't disagree more. The fact is that many of us here - so presumably elsewhere, too - saw the nonsense clearly. A big impediment to getting this fixed has been the lack of acknowledgment from management. So, any rumblings from (respected ??) media will help the groundswell to swell more.

Therefore, the article is very good.
It’s a crap article. The writer is basically featuring Kaboly’s tweet and using the responses to that tweet as the evidence of his claims. The only real issue he mentions is the offensive line and it’s been bad for so long I’d consider that to be low hanging fruit. He also states that the two assistants were fired and they weren’t, as well as saying there was a rift between them and Tomlin in the headline but provides no evidence to support that statement. Now, if there was evidence that they chose to leave and the reason for it was that Tomlin sucks, that might be something.

But it’s an article with no substance based on a speculative tweet by Mark Kaboly and the fans’ responses to it. Hardly what I would call “very good.”

Here’s my thing. Mike Tomlin is not a horrible coach. You don’t dumbass your way to 18 consecutive non-losing seasons. It’s a remarkable accomplishment.

That said, I have a hard time reconciling that with his lack of playoff success. Has playoff wins in only 4 of 18 seasons. 8-11 playoff record. No playoff wins since 2016. And no one in the fawning national media ever mentions that. It’s always just the regular season stuff.

And thinking about it, his playoff record might be worse if not for the fact that you can win multiple games in a playoff year, but only lose once. Wonder what it would look like if the playoffs were double elimination.

I don’t know. The contrast between regular season and playoffs is baffling. I feel like any other coach with Tomlin’s track record would have been canned. Andy Reid was fired for less. Muh stability, I guess.🙄

Yep. Since Reid was let go he has gone to numerous SBs....and the Eagles have brought in 2 different HCs that has taken them to numerous SBs also.

That is what is use to be about. SBs....not non-losing seasons. Go figure.

I don't blame Tomlin though. I blame a complacent Rooney.

fwiw, we all know this, have written similar and read similar here on SN.com for years. SOS

The article above that you trash is new, fresh, and in your opinion (as above) based on one guy's tweet. For some reason you find fault with that, then heave out the same stuff, again.

I'd rather read new stuff, respectful of your own opinion, but desirous of new ways of thinking, or different approaches.

I had this whole response written out, and you know what? Forget it. There is no point in bitching and moaning over a crummy article that has little to no bearing on my life. I'll just say I didn't think it well written and leave it at that. Have a great day.

He needs 27 wins to pass Chuck Noll's 209 wins.

To clear this up

Coach Tomlin SEASON record is————————-183 - 107 - 2………………. Most are referring to this unit
Tomlin post season record———————————— 8-11
Total—————————————————————191-118-2…………. Some are using this record (usually not used in comparing coaches, unless stated Post Season.

Coach Emperor Noll——————————————193 - 148 - 1
Noll post season———————————————— 16-8
Total—————————————————————209-156-1

Tomlin needs 10 wins to tie season,
18 (thanks insaniti) wins to tie overall wins.

It will be real close for Tomlin to overtake Coach Noll overall by the end of his current contract. One can only hope for Tomlinships 9 win season X 2 = 18 and the overtake———— directly leading to retirement.
