MSN takes no prisoners with Tomlin

To clear this up

Coach Tomlin SEASON record is————————-183 - 107 - 2………………. Most are referring to this unit
Tomlin post season record———————————— 8-11
Total—————————————————————191-118-2…………. Some are using this record (usually not used in comparing coaches, unless stated Post Season.

Coach Emperor Noll——————————————193 - 148 - 1
Noll post season———————————————— 16-8
Total—————————————————————209-156-1

Tomlin needs 10 wins to tie season, 26 wins to tie overall wins.

It will be real close for Tomlin to overtake Coach Noll overall by the end of his current contract. One can only hope for Tomlinships 9 win season X 3 = 27 and the overtake———— directly leading to retirement.

Math isn't Mathing... 10 for regular season, yes. 18 for over all. You added from his regular season not his overall.

So many fans from other teams say they would love to have Mike as HC. I honestly doubt that! I'll go out on a limb and say he wouldn't get hired as a HC should he leave Pittsburgh one way or another. My reasoning is simple: Bill Belicheck won 7 super bowls and had NE in several others but lost AND he was not offered a HC position from an NFL team., particularly when there were bad teams looking for a new HC. Tomlin is not even in his league, even with all of the cheating and scandals and such! Bill would have never hired Tomlin for anything on his team and he would have know he wasn't any good!

TJ WATT, 8 years in and no playoff win………… Do you think he is happy about that ?

Being the forever professional, he is quiet about it. Claims he needs to play better, bless him for that.

I’m just using TJ as an example, but players know their system and other teams systems. They can spot problems / flaws in the system. When they played Baltimore and saw what was happening to themselves…..They knew right away they were fighting a big uphill battle. Body language shows that.

This is the time of off-season that players reflect back on the season, while things are still fresh in their minds.

If something doesn’t change, or look to be promising of not have ing the Groundhog Day, I truly wonder if TJ will want out. I wonder if he will extend that contract? Maybe he bets on himself and plays the last year and quietly empties his locker.

Just a little behind the thinking process that I’m sure players contend with. Ultimately they want post season wins.

Here’s my thing. Mike Tomlin is not a horrible coach. You don’t dumbass your way to 18 consecutive non-losing seasons. It’s a remarkable accomplishment.

That said, I have a hard time reconciling that with his lack of playoff success. Has playoff wins in only 4 of 18 seasons. 8-11 playoff record. No playoff wins since 2016. And no one in the fawning national media ever mentions that. It’s always just the regular season stuff.

And thinking about it, his playoff record might be worse if not for the fact that you can win multiple games in a playoff year, but only lose once. Wonder what it would look like if the playoffs were double elimination.

I don’t know. The contrast between regular season and playoffs is baffling. I feel like any other coach with Tomlin’s track record would have been canned. Andy Reid was fired for less. Muh stability, I guess.🙄

He may not be a horrible coach, he likely is very mid and had the benefit of better talent than his division rivals most years leading to a slightly above average record…BUT then the playoffs roll around and he flips the moron switch and hides in complete debilitating fear in his turtle shell.

He may not be a complete dumbass, but has dumbass tendencies and is definitely certifiably insane as he does the same ineffective things over and over expecting different results…or he expects the same sorry *** results which would mean he just doesn’t even give a ****. I lean towards the former-insanity mixed with moronic and scared tendencies in the post season.

He is simply a guy that has done less with more and had outside morons elevate his stature far higher than it ever should have been. He’s mid usually and moronic in the post season.

Sans having been gifted Cowher’s team and coaches with a HoF QB he never would’ve lasted this long as he wouldn’t have the past success to hang his hat on and cash in off of year after painful year.

I'm doubtful next season but I think it's gonna be real close. And 30 million (lost money on Tomlin) really isn't that much in grand scheme of a 8 billion franchise. To me it really is how much woukd next coach cost? It's the amount that the next coach costs that is the real expense above budget.

17-1 and he is gone !!!! I’ll take it.

Is 17-1 a perfect regular season followed by a divisional round exit? Only Mike! Let me guess the team has us blown out by halftime taboot 😎

At any rate if Mikey hits 17 wins total in any season (playoffs included) I’m pretty sure he gets an instant 3-5 year extension from Art Nutting

Tomlin's contract will never die... Just multiply!

Kind of like yogurt, It never gets old ………. just cultures more………….

And please don’t give me the lame *** excuse about Cowher having an 8-8 season in 2006.
I like to point out to the Tomlin Fanbois that the year after HE won a Super Bowl, Coach Cool Shades went 9-7 and missed the playoffs so he is clearly awesomely more awesomer than Bill Cowher because he won ONE more game.

Belichick's age has more to do with it than anything else. He'll be 73 by next season.

Tomlin is a lot younger and would no doubt be quickly hired by another team, though I believe the buyer's remorse would quickly set in. Outside of Pittsburgh, the perception of Tomlin is still a lot stronger than the reality, though that is changing the longer the Steelers go without legitimately contending.

A key difference is that the 2006 team started 2-6 as Ben struggled recovering from the accident and appendectomy prior to the season.

The 2009 team started 6-2 before losing five in a row. That one is in the running with the 2018 season for the biggest "lost season" under Tomlin. Those teams not only should have made the playoffs, but had the talent to do something once they got there.

The 2018 team beat the eventual champion Patriots in the regular season.

18 Years as a head coach and I don't believe that he's ever had an assistant coach from the "Tomlin tree" that was lured away to become a head coach. I support the notion that he's the type of "leader" that does not want any possible challenge or threat from a bright young assistant. He's the original word salad master.

Mike Tomlin is a creation of the media and nothing more. He’s a slightly above average coach that has been put on this pedestal by the national sports media.
Other than being a cheerleader and motivator he doesn’t really do anything else well.
Art has given him an enormous amount of control to build his roster year after year and Tomlin hires his own coaches and we see the same results year after year.
Look no further than the draft in 2021 when the first two picks were a slow prodding RB and a TE that were foolish picks. They should have been badly needed OL in both rounds then you pick up the RB and TE in the later rounds. Build the trenches first but Tomlin thinks he knows better.

Are there any of those Fanbois left? Outside the national media that is.

Yes, Steeler fans of the darker complexion sort, and if you don't believe that he is The Greatest Coach In The History Of Football Who Has Never Had A Losing Season then you're a racist. I only visit one Steeler FB group any more, the Fire Mike Tomlin group, the rest are overrun with fanbois.

For my own sanity and enjoyment,, i pretend that Tomlin is fine, and we have a new mind at O coordinator and our defensive coordinator runs a 3-4. With a dime package sometimes.

Then i can draft whoever i want trade whoever i want, Dream of good picks not from Maryland and or Virginia, i can move my picks and trade them without 2nd thought that someone else will keep them there forever until their contract runs out , in hopes that his genius is proven over time.

I can live in my fears if i want to, because i dont run around saying i dont. I can Imagine our team throws over the middle to a giant from Georgia,, or to a great route guy from PSU. Without knowing what i know, i can use a 31 personell offense and block the **** out of people, or surprise them with a pass to this giant who they cant cover. In the 31 i use my fast running back who hits holes hard, because he is good, Not because he is a first round pick who i picked when i shouldnt have because i didnt really have that luxury.
I can take out or leave the pingpong table where it is, because in my mind my HC calls out the players who are pisspoor and benches them or gets rid of them. In my mind my coach would sooner play a young guy and challenge him in his development, than trot out some slug like ogunjobi.

Just pretend guys.. You cant change anything anyways.
