I live 4 blocks from the local school and I sent my daughter to a private Christian high school two towns over. Wasn't due to any violence or safety but simply the quality of education. I didn't feel guilty about it.

It just pisses me the **** off that blacks are allowed to **** **** up. I went to a school that had over 2000 kids. Less than 30 of them were black. We had 2 fights the entire time I was there. Go ahead and guess who they were started by? Go ahead? Yeah the black kids. Less than 2 percent and they were the troublemakers. **** all of em.

Moved because I knew this was gonna get heated pretty quickly.

Neo-Socialism in action. As the breakdown of the black family has progressed the gang and crime problem has progressed in the black american population. The state has in many situations replaced the black man as head of the black family and what we are finding is that the state us not very good at raising children to be decent human beings. Not to worry though its starting to happen in white society now too. The white family will "catch up" in the die line soon enough so we will all be equal.

I know! why does my daughter have to be the one to pay the price? She saw this **** firsthand. I am about to go into that school and regalate.

This behavior is due to poorly funded schools. You need to raise your school taxes.

The school I work at and my daughter attends has about 2000 kids. It's in an upper middle class suburb of Wichita. We have allowed for open enrollment, which means you can live out of district and attend the schools. We have a good number of kids from the projects in SE Wichita and S Wichita who attend the school. Guess who causes the majority of the discipline problems? Guess who has the lowest test scores in the school? Guess who has the highest rate of drug and alcohol use and abuse? It's not Benedict Cumberbatch and his country club friends, that's for sure.

My little girl goes to a school in a decent part of town. Unfortunately due to gerrymadnering the school now has a bunch of minorities attending school there. Today there was some major gang activity.... http://www.nbc12.com/story/27415398...nts-face-gang-assault-charges-in-school-fight

I am at a crossroads, do I pull her out because of Obamas people? I am not a racist, just a realist.
private school if you can afford it, for a lot of reasons.

Two observations from the outside... Luckily, there were no weapons involved... the school resource officer was lucky the thugs didn't go after him after he used his taser.

I really couldn't afford it but since I am self-employed I cut my daughter a paycheck every week from my company that just happened to be 25% of her monthly tuition. It's legal as long as you take taxes out. Sort of makes the tuition tax-deductible. Us 1%-ers get more loopholes.

Yep...no way I would leave my kid in a dangerous environment. Catholic schools are generally pretty affordable in a lot of places...and they tend to keep the little hoodlums in line. When we lived in DC we know lots of non-Catholics who sent their kids to Catholic school.

The thing is that this really shouldn't be a dangerous environment. I would bet 98% of the kids there have at least a parent that has a job. We are no where near the projects and they don't bus kids in. I am really hoping this was a very isolated incident. I do want to know if these kids are allowed to ever return to school, because if they are then there is a real problem. Hopefully the courts will make sure they end up in a school where everyone is a delinquent, and get some damn help. God knows they need it. I mean who in their right mind brings pot to school and then gets into a big fight? I mean this isn't Colorado.

Yep.

My daughter and son both went to Catholic schools - grade school and high school. Both received very good educations. They both then went to private colleges, with significant tuition.

Both were on Steeltime's payroll. Steeltime's business did the necessary withholding, social security included, and filed the necessary paperwork. Doing so reduces the business' net income in the amount paid, while the chilluns don't earn enough to pay income taxes.

The IRS can suck my dick.

I've been a public school teacher for 19 years. There is NO WAY I finish out this year - my last year. Back to the private sector for me. I told my wife tonight that I want to send my boy to private school the next three years. She finally agreed.

Public school is the biggest dump hole of stupid and anti-family/USA/work ethic you can imagine, only worse. It's just bad, bad, bad.

Get your kids out now. I can't beg you enough.

Can I ask what school district you teach in, and what specifically gives you the impression that the problem is pervasive?

I think there is some truth to that, although it depends on the school.

My kids are in public school. I could probably afford to send them to Catholic school, but honestly the average parochial schools near us do not really have the resources that our excellent public schools have in terms of levelled classes, technology, extracurriculars etc. The private schools near us are wicked expensive. We are right at the income level where we don't make enough to pay for it ourselves for three kids but make too much to get any sort of financial aid or assistance.

Our school district is generally very expensive to live in...it is filled with hyper-achievers and their children. This weeds out the dangerous element but brings its own set of problems (which I assume would be the case at an expensive private school too...the grade inflation, the helicopter parents, kids sobbing because they got a B on a homework assignment, the student parking lot full of BMWs and Mercedes). There's a lot of leftwing liberal crap being shoved down their throats, particularly in social studies and science classes which could be renamed "America is bad and is destroying our planet" classes. On the good side it offers a very challenging curriculum for those who choose to take advantage of it, and academic achievement is expected and valued. Nobody's getting ostracized here for being a smart kid.

And we wonder why the Chinese and Indians are kicking our ***** in education.

This sounds like our school district. My wife and I moved into this community knowing we could not afford the best home in the neighborhood but it provided the best education for our children. We chose to live here and work on a fixer-upper instead of buying more house in a less neighborhood. I can't complain about the schools at all....one of the top 25 districts in Massachusetts with over 99 percent of the graduating seniors going on to college. If anything, this town drives out the riff-raff. I was told an older minority family moved into a small ranch and the next school year 6 kids were getting on the bus to school....what wasn't told were the kids was being dropped off in the morning by their parents from another town. Somebody reported it, investigated and kids removed from the school. The family sold the home within a month after.

Thanks for taking the stand. You deserve better and so does your kid.

I am amazed at how many are surprised that the status quo of the public education system is lower than they expect.

Have you all had your heads in the sand for the past generation?

Public school edjumacation, plus social welfare are the clear and proximate causes of the breakdown of the family unit, the traditional American society and the reason the rest of the world is catching up and surpassing economically.

We had a very wealthy family who lived in a massive mansion on a 20 acre property in the next town...taxes would have been astronomical in our district. They bought a little crappy shack in our school district and drove their kids to the bus stop there every morning. Someone spied on them and discovered they weren't actually living there. School board investigated and they had to pay tuition for their kids for that year...then they actually had started sleeping at the little house two or three nights/week to qualify it as their residence. People were up in arms at the school board meeting claiming the superintendent gave them "special treatment". It was the big town scandal.

Craziness.

There was only one black kid in my high school. He did not make the basketball team.

When I was in high school, we had a about 400 kids....which broke down to about 390 white kids and 10 black kids.. Out of the 10 Black kids, 7 or 8 of them basically walked around school every day looking for a reason to punch a white kid in the face. The other 2 or 3 kids were nice as hell. After I got into education as an adult, the Black students I have had in both schools I have worked, I'd say about 80% of the were really good kids...pretty much the same ratio as the white kids...however they mostly all came from good families and had quality parents. The home life of a kid makes all the difference one way or the other, not so much the race IMO. Kids learn what they are taught from childhood. Take a kid of any race and within 5 minutes you can tell what their parents are like just by talking them and watching them operate. For instance I know for a fact that those 8 kids I went to school with were taught by their idiot parents from birth to distrust white people. Same goes for white kids who are taught to distrust minorities from birth. Kids are a product of their environment.
