Omar did the right thing putting Naj on notice & Najee with everything on the line produced the exact same way as always...No vision, no speed, no burst & his answers on interviews can leave one puzzled

We need a new RB...We cannot win with 3 yards & a cloud of dust with Najee 3.0

I wish I had a stat for how many 3 yard runs I have seen from him in his 3 years...Like literally EVERY RUN OF HIS

Man I soooooo wanted to like Harris, but as Sean McCoy said about Naj last week "I think we can ALL agree Najee Harris ain't it"...

Najee ain't it...

1000 empty yards for 4 straignt years...1000 yards in 17 games is pretty anemic...1000 yards meant something at 14 games, 17 games? Not so much...All his “1000” yard seasons are "barely" over 1000 yards...Such relative small production from such a big back..

Najee ain't it...

NAJEE 3.0 It's time to go, yo....

ADD in that historically, he has between 1 to 2 games more worth of touches than next closest running backs. Not sure about this year as this hasn’t been important enough to look up.

I would want him back at a fair price. He is never hurt and seldom fumbles

He would have to play a different role, to many teams equate him with a guaranteed run on1st / 2nd downs. When the Najee package is in, defense has greater than 60% chance of knowing the play, regardless of the play called.

RB is the fasted and easiest to replace, so his pay must consumerate a way smaller role, not feature back.

Like Edmunds, if this was Najee's production as a third-round pick, no one would complain. He just wasn't a gamebreaker as a first rounder. He'll likely be more productive elsewhere, but that's fine because it wasn't going to happen here.

Vernacular? Why?
LOL...here's why

Credit the "3.0 yo" TITLE idea of this thread to the fact during football season I have been watching all the recent "Breaking Bad Commercials" with Jessie eating 'dem "PopCorners" yo...

I couldn’t resist he gotsta go with all his 3.0 yards per carry yo

You know he averaged 4.0 for the year.

Anything like that. All ideas including like Darnold. It's all lip stick on the pig. It is now perfectly clear. There are no moves to be had. Their defense collapsed fully healthy. I will chear for team but it ain't gonna matter. Oz is out from behind curtain.

I agree! He simply cannot be this team’s feature back for the reasons previously stated.

It’s been perfectly clear for awhile

The coach is a massive hurdle
The QBs have sucked within the shyte system
Najee is nothing more than a high production back
Weak receiver core
Decent TEs
Young OL working with a shyte blocking scheme

This offense needs a lot of work starting with a competent offensive minded coach to actually build it up

We all know (and many have known for years) Mike ain’t the guy to do it

While Najee shouldn’t have been drafted BEFORE hiring a decent OL coach and employing a competent scheme, I still think we don’t know how good we have it with him.
He is a model citizen, hardly injured and doesn’t fumble.
Nobody talks about the fact that he averages less than 6 FEET before he is contacted. THAT is scheme and coaching 80% and 20% vision.
Why are Barkley, Henry and Gibbs doing so well in YPC? Well, they are “spotted” yards BEFORE contact by their teams.
Barkley: Over 1300 yards before he’s touched in 2024 (3.8ypc)
Henry: Over 1000 yards before he’s touched (3.1ypc)(Highest avg of his career)
Gibbs: Over 800 yards before he’s touched (3.3ypc)
Harris: for his career is under 2 yards (1.9ypc) >6 FEET. That means is average is he’s getting hit IN the backfield.
Look at Barkley’s last year in NYG with 1.9 ybc before this year. That could be Harris on a good team next year.
If we don’t know how to scheme to not get hit in the backfield, why keep him?
Nothing changes until somebody up top realizes our players aren’t being utilized properly or put in position to succeed by our collective staff.

This is a great post. thank you. the other thing I don't understand is why they quit throwing the ball to him. rookie year he caught 74 passes for 467 yards and he made the pro bowl, after that his targets were cut almost in half. This year he averaged almost 8 yards per reception, he had 12 "drops" but 90% of those were passes that hit the ground before they got to him or were out of his reach.

1000 yards is nothing yet only 16 players this year hit the mark.

Infact....since the year 2000 the average number of RBs to get 1000 yards in a season is 14.66.

Say what you want about Harris....his feat is still impressive.

Najee is average and not worth a big contract but running back is pretty far down on the needs list I think. Him and Warren would be fine, not great but fine behind a good line. Quarterback, wide receiver, offensive line are all bigger concerns imo

Steelers running backs combined for 13 receptions during their best offensive game of the year against the Bengals.

Every steeler fan in the entire world ******* about how ****** this offensive line play is, yet we continue to pitch the ball 7 yards deep into a 9 man box and expect Harris to average 5 yards a carry. Hell every team in the NFL knows exactly what the first two plays are every series.

The way in which he was used is not his fault but yes he would need to be utilized better and less predictably. The same goes for every player on offense.

Of course it’s not his fault on how he was being used, still doesn’t change the fact that his role has to change and I’m not sure coaching can handle on how to do that. Adjustment doesn’t seem to be a strength of Coach Tomlin.

3 more years of Groundhog Day.
