"Najee Harris ain't it". NAJEE 3.0 It's time to go, yo....

I hear yaz Supe, what I’m saying is the $$$$$$$ and work-load have to change to the degree of play calling that’s not predictable. Tom Lin hasn’t been able to find that mixture through his controlling “thumbs on” approach.

Right price, right useage, right OL, right QB, right coaching & staff, you casn see where this is going.

I’m not saying get rid of him, I’m saying his current role needs to be changed…………

100% agree.
how many times did we see Najee run off tackle for no success? Yet when he ran up the middle, he was good? that is his role. Up the middle. He's more Steven Jackson than he is Derrick Henry.

We all hoped Najee could be a Derek Henry 2.0.

He isn't. He never will be.

Najee doesn't have Henry's speed. Najee doesn't use his size to run hard like Henry.

The comparisons to Derek Henry start and stop with size and playing at Alabama. Beyond that, they are nothing alike.

What Najee gives this franchise can be replaced in the draft or free agency at a much cheaper contract level than Najee will want.

Najee runs as hard as he can, as was pointed out before, he's averaging 1.9 yards before contact. For reference, among RB's with at least 100 rush attempts, Saquon was first with 3.8 yards before contact, Henry was 4th with 3.1 yards before contact. If you give Najee that chance to get up to speed and run downhill you would see a much better result too.

The tone and body language of his post-game tells me if he gets a competitive offer anywhere else, he will have played his last game as a Steelers.

Exactly what I saw as well.

The biggest thing is they could have saved spending a first round pick on Harris.

BINGO !!!!!!

Where he was picked isn't Najee's fault, had he been taken 2nd / 3rd, he would have been great value.

Tomlin took him before the OL was ready or even addressed.

Our OL coaching has been putrid since Muncheck left.

While Najee shouldn’t have been drafted BEFORE hiring a decent OL coach and employing a competent scheme, I still think we don’t know how good we have it with him.
He is a model citizen, hardly injured and doesn’t fumble.
Nobody talks about the fact that he averages less than 6 FEET before he is contacted. THAT is scheme and coaching 80% and 20% vision.
Why are Barkley, Henry and Gibbs doing so well in YPC? Well, they are “spotted” yards BEFORE contact by their teams.
Barkley: Over 1300 yards before he’s touched in 2024 (3.8ypc)
Henry: Over 1000 yards before he’s touched (3.1ypc)(Highest avg of his career)
Gibbs: Over 800 yards before he’s touched (3.3ypc)

Harris: for his career is under 2 yards (1.9ypc) >6 FEET. That means is average is he’s getting hit IN the backfield.
Look at Barkley’s last year in NYG with 1.9 ybc before this year. That could be Harris on a good team next year.
If we don’t know how to scheme to not get hit in the backfield, why keep him?
Nothing changes until somebody up top realizes our players aren’t being utilized properly or put in position to succeed by our collective staff.
No
Talent matters, its all the difference.
Gainwell: 2.2 yards before contact vs 3.8 for Barkley
Hill: 1.9 yards before contact vs 3.1 for Derrick Henry
Montgomery: 1.9 yards before contact vs 3.3 for Gibbs

Nice try though.
Maybe think next time?

I still say Colbert (and Tomlin) were hoping by simply drafting a RB it would fix a putrid running game and give Ben a chance at one last hurrah. What it showed was how little understanding both had of the game of football even thinking that would work.

Massive fail!

Your continued love for Tomlin borders on nauseating. Also your keep paying Tomlin, but don’t expect him to do his job is fundamentally wrong.
WTF? Where did I say anything positive about Tomlin in that post. I only assumed he isn't leaving, which is a damn near safe assumption.

Who of note did not play? It's week 19 of the NFL. No one feels great.
True but they had been on the field a whole lot for 4 weeks straight against the top offenses in the league with 0 help from our offense and likely totally demoralized. They sucked but I don't entirely blame them at this point. After we didn't defer then did nothing they had to be asking what the point and it showed on the field. As much as I have supported Tomlin in the past he made some bad choices. Like not having Trice active and playing Sutton.

Awful OL is for sure. You can tell it's being run/coached/managed by people who don't know what they're doing. It's pretty bad when your rookie C is the top guy on that line.

Hopefully next year's line is better. Troy being back alone will help.
Frazier finally makes the miss on creed sting slightly less.

Seem like the majority want Harris gone though. And it looks like he will be. Here you had a young guy who busted his *** here. Tried to be a lockerroom leader(we have none). Never misses games. Never fumbles. Four straight 1000 yard seasons(one of 13 players to do that from the start of their career).

Wonder what the next guy will do?🤔

One can say all they want but after Muncheck, there was NOT one single good OL coach, that includes the current savior Meyer (I think that’s his name). Bringing in top talent draft and still nothing relevant. Injuries are a part, but one can see via the “eye” test that they are not progressing up. They have the horse, just not a ****-ing driver to show them the way………

So how is it equal part on the RB when he is being hit in the backfield? When Najee gets in space he looks pretty good, the team just does not do it enough. I hope they work out something to keep Najee, but its not looking likely. On a good team being used as the workhorse I think he will be a 1200 -1300 yrd back and could be a 500 yrd receiver. Most teams rotate backs alot so just depends on the situation. He does not have break away speed, but he is not as slow as people make him out to be. The year before he was one of the top backs for 20+ yrd runs. I think we have enough talent on the Oline we just need proper scheme and coaching. Meyers / Tomlins system is not it. Unfortunately I think its going to take another nation wide "Fire Canada" movement to get the proper changes.
It's "equal part" his fault because he lacks the jets and instincts to burst through any hole that does open up. He just "chugs" along to the general area where to hole is supposed to be and that it, meanwhile there could be open space o the right or left but he just doesn't see it or can't get there. That makes it partly his fault.

yeah, **** Najee

he gets 1.9 yards BEFORE contact.

OP is an idiot and this thread is bullshit.

@bermudasteel - they talking about your boy in here.
Because Najee has NO VISION & IS SLOW AF...We saw 4 years of 3.9 yards per carry...3.9 YARDS...

NAJEE RARELY SEALED A GAME....Rarely got game sealing first downs, did you watch our games? We almost ALWAYS gave the ball back in winning time over the past 4 years because Naj got us a clutch 3 yards...I haven't missed a game in 5 years & I can tell you "Najee ain't it"...

The OP may be an idiot, in fact he is, but this thread ain't bullshit & "Najee ain't it"

OLs seem to get better when Pat Mayer moves on to another team…so we’ll probably keep him way too long.

It has already been too long, but he’ll stick around way too long screwing up the talent.

Mike loves coaches that suck more than him, and they ain’t that easy to come by so when ya find one ya really need to keep him around…see 🇨🇦

You can never have too many scapegoats at the ready when you’re as mediocre as Mike

That was back when Mediocre Mike was still preaching the weapons can replace the need for a OL BS

Look at all the good teams…they are all solid in the trenches on both sides

Mike does not get that football games are still won and lost in the trenches. Can Weidl/Khan overcome him? That’s an awful high hurdle to jump

Kahn has been exposed to him (Tomlin) for a long time, but I just hope both don’t get “Tomlinized” and carry that tradition on well after the Tomlin is gone………

I just hope all the “GREAT” energy isn’t being sucked out of Kahn or Wiedl. We need both at full function when it’s time to get a new coach.

I also hope Art 2 has passed the touch before the new coach is needed as I don’t want Art 2’s touch on the hiring.

Art 2’s son (DAN) can take the reins with a new coach hire to start off with.

Some people get it, some people don’t and blame they guy with the ball. I’m sure there were a lot of Giants fans who said good riddance to Barkley after he averaged 3.9 ypc last season and 4.3 for his career.

If we brought him back, and the price was right, it probably wouldn't be the worst mistake we've ever made. Looking at some of his stats, I was kinda surprised to see how he stacked up.

He’s basically Eddie George (in Eddie’s average years)

I wouldn’t break the bank for him, that’s for sure…
But if he were to accept a reasonable deal it wouldn’t be the worst thing.

Also, it wouldn’t be the best thing cuz this team could find a more explosive back that could help add some juice to the offense and RBs are a dime a dozen so why pay a dollar for 1?

6th or 7th even would have been better. UDFA would have been the bestest though.
