Of course the media is against HCQ simply because Trump has mentioned it and their Pavlovian response dictates they oppose it. But there’s more than that. Why are so many doctors speaking out against it like it poison? Nobody has said it’s a miracle cure, only that it can help and there are verifiable results.

I can’t help but think it’s because HCQ is generic and these doctors have been bought by big pharma, so they tout a bunch of expensive and unproven new drugs over cheap drug with over 50 years of history of being safe.

I don't give two ***** about what Trump does to his own body. He's spent a lifetime popping pills, eating crappy food, is high on amphetamines more often than not, mostly on a daily basis. He's free to do whatever he chooses, drink chlorine, snort rails of rat poison, take whatever meds he can score from his shady, personal doc. Good on him.

The problem is the totally irresponsible, haphazard and reckless way the president is handling and communicating this crisis. No cohesive, nationwide plan in place, constantly shifting and changing messaging, contradictory statements, erratic and confusing leadership. Much like everything else he does. His comments that people should be trying out drugs, what do they have to lose?, masks are good, masks are bad, follow pence/cdc guidelines, ugh, maybe not, let's be careful, let's rush to reopen, let's be bold, testing is best in the world, testing sucks & irrelevant etc etc etc is pure madness. You all know it, but choose to ignore it, or just wish it wasn't true.

As far as Trump taking hydroxychloroquine, since he already exhibits most of the side-effects as a core part of his personality - agitation, insomnia, confusion, mania, hallucinations, paranoia, depression, catatonia, psychosis, and suicidal ideation - maybe it's a GOOD thing for him to take it. Maybe the medication will act as a double-negative and cancel out or reduce his severe cases of psychosis. I applaud his decision to be a lab rat with these chemicals, and encourage him to keep experimenting with whatever he can get his hands on - ie stuff found beneath the kitchen sink and in the garage, lot's of solvents and disinfectants lying around that could all be useful in fighting Covid. As Trump likes to say, maybe it will, maybe it won't, who knows?

Your rantings sound more like a madman than Trump's.

That was LSD

You would have thought, with some of the **** I dreamed about. Was happy when I didn't have to take them anymore. The dreams weren't violent or anything, just really, really weird.

Trump takes amphetamines? That's one I hadn't heard. I'm laughing though, because that **** is funny.

From what I understand, HCQ only works on corona in a stack with azithromycin and zinc. By itself, not really effective. Nobody seems to ever mention that part, so either it's untrue or they are being intellectually dishonest. Hard to tell these days.

Meanwhile, sanctimonious Chris Cuomo’s wife wrote a blog where she claims she cured her coronavirus with Clorox baths, herbs and vitamins and barely a peep from the media.

My understanding is in the US it has mostly been tried only in the most severely ill patients, and it may be more effective in helping more moderately ill people from becoming severe.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/20/politics/workers-taking-hydroxychloroquine-fact-check/index.html

In early April, the Henry Ford Health System in Michigan launched the first large-scale study in the US of hydroxychloroquine's effectiveness in preventing or impeding Covid-19 in frontline workers. The 3,000 health care workers and first responders in southeast Michigan selected for the study each received unmarked vials with either a daily dose of hydroxychloroquine, a once-a-week dose, or a placebo.
After eight weeks, the three groups will be compared to see if the medication had any effect. Preliminary results are expected possibly in August.
The Duke Clinical Research Institute is leading a study to, in part, determine if hydroxychloroquine can successfully prevent coronavirus infections in health care workers with a high risk of infection.
The second part of the study is a randomized clinical trial which began last month and is currently examining almost 600 health care workers with 25 to 40 added each day. The participants are randomly divided into two groups, one will take hydroxychloroquine and the other a placebo to "examine whether hydroxychloroquine is effective in decreasing the rate of Covid-19 infection," according to a press release from the university.
Dr. Adrian Hernandez, professor of Medicine in Cardiology at Duke who started the program to study health care workers, told CNN the trial is expected to conclude this summer but could go into the fall.
When asked about the President's comments, Hernandez said that prior to these trials "there were likely health care workers before that were taking hydroxychloroquine." However, Hernandez cautions against individuals who are not in these clinical trials taking the drug as a preventative measure against coronavirus. He recommended "that people participate in clinical trials for hydroxychloroquine, as opposed to taking it individually."
Hernandez added that taking the drug outside of a clinical trial in an attempt to prevent infection from coronavirus "like the President, is probably not the answer."

I guess these healthcare workers all have death wishes or are just blind followers of Trump.

Those pesky details....

He looks pretty trim there.

yeah, there was numerous reports of Trump being driven to a CVS and rolling in to get some chloroquine off the shelf.

what's that? it's not available OTC? so a doc prescribed it? maybe Trump has a doc in the White House like every goddamned President before him? That's just silly talk, I'm sure. Trump's out there writing his own prescriptions and using The Beast to get those filled at the CVS drive-thru on his way to McD's for another Big Mac.

Tibs is an intellectually dishonest gutter rat incapable of any self-reflection (in politics), so he won't answer any of your questions honestly. This has been established. God bless your hearts for continuing to try though.

Oooh, that's a new one. Nice to see you elevating the civil discourse around here. Classy, real classy.

I don't answer strawman, gotcha questions, sorry. The point has already been made several times in this thread that most if not all common medicines have various side effects.

Those pesky details....

I'm not disputing that's the recommendation. But as usual you've missed the entire point which is that medical professionals who treat covid patients every day are taking this drug as a preventative. Within and outside of studies. So clearly is is not the useless, lethal drug you and the media claim it is.

See, Supe?

And act like a piece of trash, get replied to like a piece of trash. It's pretty simple.

correct. and by not taking the "drug" with all those side effects, you've allowed your high blood pressure to give you a stroke. congratulations.

and you do realize that Trump has a doctor at his immediate service 24/7, correct? you really think the man is just pulling **** out of his *** like this? as if the man even knew what chloroquine was prior to this (and very few of us did).

sit back and breathe once in awhile
