New Years Bowl games.

This is why you have a playoff....to determine the champion on the field. I can't imagine how many true champions were lost to this stupid polling and bowl system there actually are. Tape is right, if the playoffs were not in place you would have had an FSU/Bama championship and everyone would be talking about how Saban is immortal.

Florida State recruits with the best of them. They'll be back next year minus the moron at qb. I'm an FSU fan,but not a Winston fan by any means. I haven't seen a loss in 29 games and last night was an epic throttling. I do not see Ohio State stopping them, but i also didn't see them beating Bama either. At least we will have a half *** legit champion for a change this year.

After watching Winston last night, what exactly did he do to win the Heisman? He played the same last year as this year....was the competition THAT ****** last year that there was no other choice? Was it a media saves face pick?
I was questioning the Mariota pick until last night (I hadn't seen him play much if at all because of the time difference thing)....but after watching him play, I know the voters got it right this year. Was Mariota not in the running last year? The difference in play between those 2 QBs was astounding.

FR QB 14 257 384 66.9 4057 10.6 11.5 40 10 184.8.........last years Winston stats. He played very well and FSU steamrolled. The Ducks have the same system the Eagles are running. That fast paced K Gun type offense Chip Kelley copied from the Bills. You take him out of that system and Mariota may not look so hot. Hell Sanchez sucks *** and it made him look halfway decent. I think Winston will be an NFL bust and Mariota has a decent shot to be as good as anyone. It's hard to say for sure until they play for a few years.

What are all those numbers? Not to be mean, but that means nothing to me. I could put up 34 234 456 85.9 6758 56.7 23.6 30 19 789.4 and it means nothing unless it's in context.

Also, you cannot deny how good of a coach Urban Meyer is, he is 36-3 at Ohio State and is about to play for a National Championship.

Except on first down, up by seven, with 1:45 left in the game. Anyone know if he was asked about that and what his explanation was?

GO BUCKEYES!

GREAT day for the B1G...GREAT bowl season for the Pac12...

I'm not really a fan of the Bowl season being an indicator of how good the conference is...I'd rather look at regular season non-conference records. Here's the SEC's bowl record so far:

SEC West: 2-5
SEC East: 3-0

...and the SEC West was FAR superior to the east. The SEC East is just a hot mess of a division.

The Bowls are more about matchups than anything else. You can get a bad matchup, lame-duck coach and get smoked...or not...it just depends.

No offense, but you may be out of your league on this one....

Mariota plays in a very gimmicky system. A system that makes Nick Foles and Sanchez look like All-World QB's. Think RG3 at Baylor.

Last year while running a pro style offense- Winston put up 4000+ yards at 67% percentage with 40tds to 10Ints.

As much as I loathe all things FSU, Winston completely earned that Heisman Trophy last year. I was at the FSU/Pitt game and the kid was just simply amazing. He was absolutely amazing all year last year. By far...best player in the nation...not even close.

This year not so much...

Just my humble opinion guy...

But I think you have that backwards.

Winston has all the tools and characteristics to develope into a very good pro style QB...Mariota, not so much.

Is it because this year other coaches had him figured out this year?
I watched several FSU games this year and he looked terrible until the 4th quarter. Certainly NOT like a defending Heisman champ. I didn't see any games with him last year other than the National Championship game and even then he looked shaky until the 4th. I also consider that the ACC isn't a tough division....so maybe his numbers and his play was inflated because of his division?

If anything, I think he let his ego get in the way last night and that was his downfall. Well that and his backward butt fumble returned for a TD...

Winston was unreal against Pitt in that game and he didn't slow down much after. He has all of the talent to be a very good quarterback at the next level, but he is a moron and I would not trust him with a high draft pick.

Yes i agree on his skill set and talent. I'm not so sure if he can handle everything else off the field. He's a young immature guy. He will need a good mentor on whatever team he goes to. Mariota will have to prove he's not the product of a gimmick offense or have the talent to develop into a pro quarterback.

The FSU defense was way below standard all year. That was the biggest problem with the team overall. Winston reached the top of the mountain a little too fast.

the FSU defense was not as good as last year...and I think Winston was pressing. He apparently was trying too hard to be too perfect and dominate the game by himself. He threw a TON of first half interceptions in the regular season, which is why FSU struggled in a lot of games.

In the Florida game, he threw 3 ints in the first half and Florida just had zero offense. None.

That makes sense. Thank you!!!!

The Steelers and Buckeyes do meet during the offseason to discuss schemes, systems, etc. Maybe time management is one of the topics of discussion. Or maybe not. lol

Jameis Winston has been exposed. His stock is now down. Now that he has been showcased on the national stage as the chump he really is, all that is left are the crab legs!

Hail to Pitt..

They just blew a 28 point 4th quarter lead to Houston....no not the Texans, but the mighty University of Houston Cougars and lose the bowl game.

You couldn't make this **** up!

27-1 Career record. He had a bad game. He has been on the national stage since his first snap in college. Did you sleep through last season? Kid is a dumbass but he is a good football player.
