I presume a lot of you - well, some of you - watch other NFL games. If so, then you should be (like I am) thankful that the Steelers have Kenny Pickett. Ho-lee ****, Mac Jones is awful; the Miami QB situation is a dumpster fire if the dumpster was filled with used condoms and tampons; Justin Fields is horrible; if Malik Willis studies game film and gets a lot better, then he might qualify as horrible.

My God, no wonder Brady keeps playing. As awful as he has been this year, he is better than at least half the starting QB's in the NFL.

There have been so many injuries in the league this year. We've seen some young guys make jumps this year and others have taken a step back. Jones has been disappointing and for a moment Fields caught fire but he's mainly been making plays with his legs rather than his arm.

Watching Fields try to pass is like watching a blind guy trying to pick up razor blades.

Yeah if Kenny is a miss the Steelers ont be the only team in that boat. And I do remember all the connections between the Steelers and Willis. While the young man's career story is not fully written at this point thank Jesus.
And in an unrelated topic can anyone besides just throw a 9 route where the receiver just runs under. Dies everything have to be an undertow jump ball?

A couple seasons ago, some teams started popularizing the drop 8 rush 3 defense and as it’s grown in use, nfl coaches are getting more and more scared of middle of the field than ever… just flys and comebacks along the sidelines where it’s fairly safe even if it’s incomplete …

My only concern with Kenny is the concussions.

Is that clear enough for you???

I think the first concussion was minor. (seemed to be)

This recent one he had some delayed symptoms but not ready to be concerned...yet.

If he got another this year that might grow to a concern for me.

I think at this point we should be most worried about our OC. Pickett, as a rookie, has looked more than ok even with a very questionable (I am trying to be nice) OC. The lack of patience these days is crazy. I mean, we legit get people (all over, not specifically speaking to SN) losing their crap when some 1025th round pick isn't an all-world player their rookie year.

PS - I understand it is ironic to talk about lack of patience when this is only Canada's second year. But Canada is basically Finchtner 2.0 and we have been doing this for almost 5 years now. Fortunately, Ben and others were able to have some success notwithstanding the ongoing OC issues.

PSS - Yes, I cited OC as a problem. No, I will not cite HC as a problem because, like it or not, noting is changing there. There are only two ways our HC leaves. He or God chooses it. And I am not even sure God has a say. :)

KP8 is not shaping up to be a problem QB

I was not exactly thrilled with the pick and I have favored Mitch more this year than Kenny

but Kenny has been protecting the ball, yeah he made some rookie mistakes but he extended some plays and made a huge play to win the game

**** rudy

QBs are as good as the offensive players they're surrounded by and their OC.

I did not want us to draft any QB in last years draft. I wanted to build a good team for when we did get a QB. Once we go Kenney, I was all in, but I didnt want him thrown to the dogs too soon. I have seen too many QBs destroyed that way. All that being said, I am very happy the way things turned out the way they did.

The good news about Kenny has been his positive development during the season, less mistakes, great scrambling and throwing on the run. And winning 2 games, late is a very good sign, even if those games were against teams in some disarray at QB.

He still locks in on receivers, and isn't seeing the whole field on most plays, but that is also about poor OL pass protection.

I still do not understand the need to hang on to both Trubisky and Rudy all season, but maybe no one wanted them....

I think early there was a competition need. Then they probably just weren't offered enough for Rudy to deplete depth.

They were 2-6 with either a great run to the finish, or a top 5 pick. Rudy was never gonna be an asset in either evolution. They missed an opportunity. Hell, Rudy might helped the Rats last night...

True but a third QB can be viewed as a luxury until you need them. If a QB is out due to concussion he was one injury away from playing. In general I prefer three QBs on the roster who are short term win capable. When Rudy exits I still prefer to have a QB with experience. On a good team that is nice to have. As we know a game can often be the difference in playing in the playoffs to sitting at home watching others.

Yeah, but when you start 2-6, you have a wasted season, good only for developing the rookie or getting better picks. Fortunately, it looks like Kenny is doing well, but even if he was hurt, the Steelers are better off with better picks next season. Rudy was a wasted asset all season, especially when they cut Dobbs who played for two teams. Steelers could have kept Dobbs and gotten something for Rudy.
