College Football Playoff Thread

Penn State QB Beau Pribula going to Missouri. Mizz has the #3 high school QB committed as well. Probably sold Pribula that they will redshirt the freshman and he will start for at least 1 season and possibly 2.

Zollers has seen his rating drop recently. He's now the #8 QB in the On3 Industry rankings. I'm sure that he's really happy about Pribula coming to town, too.

OSU looked better than any team in the first four games, at least to me. I think it took some elite coaching to lose to Michigan.
Yeah OSU was one of my early picks along with Oregon and my alma mater.

The way they handled Tennessee shows something.

I was pulling for Tennessee. I hadn't really seen them play much, but figured they would have a chance. On that night they had zero chance. That was the game I was most looking forward to watching. I really hope the next round of games is better. Otherwise, it's gonna be like what is the point of expanding to 12 teams. Maybe it will make more sense when everyone starts sharing the NIL money and college becomes like the pros with a salary cap etc.

I don’t know why everyone is acting like there weren’t blow outs before the 12 team CFP. There was at least one blowout almost every year. Plus, this the first year of this. They’ll adjust.

For goodness sake, just let all the SEC fans stop crying. It’s embarrassing how they all wanna talk about who they beat but not who they lost to. And they sure have been awfully quiet about the whooping Tennessee took, other than trying to claim Tennessee was a middling team in the SEC. You got three teams in. Only one is out. You still have a couple chances to win it all. Good grief the entitlement with SEC fans and coaches is pathetic.

Ohio State looked great tonight BUT at the end they had guys lighting cigars on the sideline. Great game but it was round 1 and they were acting like they won it all. Oregon has a good QB that doesn't get rattled. OSU played great because they were humbled by Michigan. They could be in for trouble if they go right back to the cocky team that thinks the game is in the bag.
I'm sure you realize that the ONE player who lit a cigar on the sideline was the Center that transferred in from Alabama. And, I'm sure you realize that it's a tradition in the 'Bama/Tenn game that the victors light cigars. If you didn't realize this, the TV announcers explained it during the broadcast.

LOL - I was concerned that the fans were being arrogant ***** leading up to the game. The team came out flatter than Keira Knightley. Ohio State was definitely the better team last night.
i was rooting for Tennessee. Ryan Day is an asshat who can **** right the hell off.

I’m only concerned about Georgia. I could care less about the SEC if they get blown out.

That’s like me watching the ravens, browns or bengals get blown out

seems about right

If you think espn is bad when it comes to *** kissing check out their sec network channel.

Love my Dawgs. But sometimes the SEC hype can be a little too….obnoxious.

Alyssa Lang is cutie though. Well sometimes. Some days she looks smoking, other days she’s ???

Time for Round 2 of the Playoffs

Just a general comment I haven't heard discussed. These teams that had a bye have not played in a long time. Here's the days since each has last played

Boise 25 days
Arizona State 25 days
Oregon 25 days
Georgia 25 days

That's a really long layoff. Will there be rust? It's typical to have such a layoff for bowl games, but in a bowl, both teams have that layoff. These playoff teams will each face an opponent who played a quality opponent last week.

Tuesday 12/31

Fiesta Bowl - Glendale AZ
6 Penn State vs 3 Boise State 7:30 ESPN Penn State -11.5

Jeanty should have won the Heisman. He had a special season. He did play a bunch of horrible run defenses though. Boise's whole offense goes through Jeanty. Their pass game is play action. If Jeanty isn't having a great game, they'll have issues moving the ball. I doubt Boise's OL can handle the Penn State DL.

Boise ranks 2nd overall in total sacks. This is from blitzes, not from talented pass rushers. The bad news is Boise ranks 111 in explosive plays allowed. Their secondary stinks. So basically, they blitz and if they don't get there, they get toasted.

Penn State tends to start slow and that could happen again. I don't think Boise will be able to stand up to Penn State Ol and DL I'm thinking Penn State's OL will eventually grind down Boise and they'll be able to run at them with a fresh RB. They could get a few big plays from the WRs if Boise has to sell out to stop the run.

Boise and Penn State are both unbeaten in the Fiesta Bowl. Boise won that epic game vs Oklahoma. Penn State is 7-0 and won a national championship beating Miami in the 86 season.

New Year's Day

Peach Bowl - Atlanta
5 Texas vs 4 Arizona State 1:00 ESPN Tex -13

The Texas offense has not been great, but that was against Georgia. ASU has not faced a team anywhere near as talented as Texas. ASU needs to run the ball with Cam Skattebo who runs like a beast. Their QB Sam Leavitt has said he's better than Ewers and they're itching to prove it.

I'd love to pick the upset here but I think Texas is too big of a step up in competition and will look like Indiana vs Notre Dame.

Rose Bowl - Pasadena CA
8 Ohio State vs 1 Oregon 5:00 ESPN OSU -2.5

I think the winner of this game goes to the Championship game and probably wins it all. This may be the game where the extra long layoff shows the most. Oregon's offense was dialied in vs Penn State. Will they take some time to get going vs Ohio State?

Ohio State will likely have a better defensive gameplan this time around. Will OSU try to air it out like they did vs Tenn or will they go back to trying to win on the ground?

This game is a true toss up.

Sugar Bowl - New Orleans
7 Notre Dame vs 2 Georgia 8:45 ESPN UGA -1

This is the toughest game to call because there's so many unknowns. Notre Dame did play a weak schedule and their game vs Indiana didn't show much beyond ND had a good defense. Georgia is a mystery every week and now they are playing with a backup QB.

Gunner Stockton is talented but he has almost no passing stats. Notre Dame had time to prepare for an RPO scheme if that's the plan with Stickton. ND has only faced 2 good passing teams, USC and Louisville and both had success in the air. Will Georgia let Stockton air it out? They may have to.

Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard is not a great passer either. He's good at RPO and throwing on the run but contain him in the pocket and he can struggle.

Georgia's defenese has had a problem with running QBs. Milroe lit them up. So did Georgia Tech with designed QB runs. Riley Leonard's legs are probably the key to this game.

Beck was up and down all year but if he was playing, I'd pick Georgia. Without him, I think ND wins this by forcing Stockton to pass and he makes a few mistakes.

I don't care how they do it. Win by 20 or by 1, just win the damn game. WE ARE!!

I think it’d be funny if Penn State and Boise State had a long multiple OT game that culminated at midnight and caused chaos in households across the EST zone as people missed New Year’s.

Georgia has had damn near a month for them to get healthy and the backup qb to practice.

The odds are in his favor because you have damn near no film on him and he's had a lot of time to prepare. If they can run the ball well,it will make his job much easier.

The defense needs to show up big time.

Go Dawgs!

Nice breakdown as always, Tape!

Penn State should roll today. Easiest pathway to the championship, it should be another blowout.

Ohio State and Oregon should've at least been on separate sides of the bracket. By far the two most talented teams in college football this year, this feels like it should be the championship game. This is a toss up.

Arizona State looked very good, but as Tape pointed out, the long layoff could be tough to overcome (they really need to restructure this playoff format to get rid of the long layoff and bowl sites for games). We'll find out if they're the real deal. Like Penn State, this feels like a game Texas should dominate.

Notre Dame and Georgia is a tough one because of Georgia's QB situation and Notre Dame's history against SEC teams. If Leonard was a better passer, I'd feel really good with Notre Dame in this game. I have no feel for this game otherwise.

Boise will probably have more fans in attendance. They had weeks to buy tickets and it's a much closer trip for them.

But Penn State has Flava Flav

I think this could be as bad a QB draft class then Pickett, et all where Brock Purdy was only saving grace. Anyone thinking QB to Steelers this year has rocks in head.

This isn’t going to be a blowout, but I agree Penn State SHOULD win. I think Boise will cover.

Did I just see a Boise State player face plant while leading his team on the field while carrying the American Flag?
