College Football Playoff Thread

Whole lotta SMU fans spent a whole lotta $$$s for a ****** afternoon in the cold.
 
Lucky for Franklin and Allar Penn State's D and SMU's QB are bailing them out. How do you go for a first down on your 20-yard line when you have a 14-0 lead? Bonehead
 
This is worse than the first game. Thank you, 2024 College Football Playoff Selection Committee.
 
All I see is PSU blowing out SMU - something I was not expecting. Hopefully, they get to Boise State next week healthy and have a chance at that one.

Boise State won't be giving up two pick sixes. PSU tackling has been sloppy and the offense hasn't looked good. Plus Franklin hardly ever beats a top 10 team.

I thought it would be a little closer, but Penn State was going to win this game relatively comfortably even without the turnovers. They have the easiest path to the finals with Beck out for Georgia.

I know all of that. The plus side to Boise State is they have played an easier schedule than Penn State. Both teams lost to Oregon. Boise State has a crazy run game. If Penn State can stop or slow it down, they can win. If not, it will be a looooong game and they will be out. I thought they could win this game and then have a small chance to beat Boise State but after that, all bets are off. I would be absolutely shocked if they beat anyone past Boise State. Franklin is a good recruiter and the players love him (kind of like Tomlin) but he's not a good coach because he can't beat any of the top teams. His teams rarely upset anyone especially in the top 10.
 
Penn State's defense was all over them. SMU has a really good offense and there was nothing they could do. Run game was stopped and QB running for his life. They had a good plan to drop LBs into the lanes to bait him into bad throws.

Offense was blah, but when you get 2 defensive TDs it keeps the offense off the field. SMU has an excellent DL and they got some pressure. It seemed like Penn State really wanted to throw the ball today even though they could have just run it all day.

Allar missed too many throws today. He forgets his footwork too often even with clean pockets.

The WRs still suck. They bring in the backup Grunkemeyer to get him some game reps and his first career pass is an INT because the WR couldn't catch it and tipped it right to a DB.

They already got a portal WR from USC for next year. Hopefully they can get another.
 
Abdul Carter was unstoppable. Part of that is the refs called holding today. Big 10 refs don't call holding so Abdul gets the TJ Watt treatment most games. If refs are actually going to call holding, you can't stop him.
