Noooooo (Tomlin 2 year extension)

Doesn't surprise me at all that he was extended.I'm not a fan of his but in his 8 seasons he's been to two SB's winning one, playoffs 5 times all in 8 seasons. Never had any losing seasons as well. So lets see if he can continue to build on this team and get to another SB and win it, then he converts me over.I can look past all his double talk and Tomlinisms if he can get us another trophy. As far as him being black, couldn't care less as long as he wins for us. A white HC would be under the same scrutiny from me if he turned this club into a bunch of losers as a black coach. Just as long as Tomlin racks up the w's who cares.

Great news and never doubted Mike T would be staying on board. Guess this gives you guys more to cry err talk about after each game.

Great move by the Steelers to sign him! Without question, he's in the top 5 of coaches in the league. Here we go Steelers!

After Noll won his last Super Bowl he coached 12 more seasons with a record of 95-95. Transitioning from a Super Bowl
team into another Super Bowl team is tricky work. We are pretty much completely transitioned from a team that won 2
Super Bowls into a new team with basically Ben and Heath as holdovers. I think we are on the upswing and doing a
better transitioning job than we did in the 80's and 90's.

The team has a chance to do great things this year if they stay healthy on offense. On paper the season does look like mission impossible to hit 10+ wins. Maybe we can borrow the patriots**** intel gathering gear for that extra extra edge. send ernie too.

oh good. we're only on the 2nd page. I'm here just in time.

Comparing the way the NFL works now to how it did in the 70's and 80's doesn't work. This is a Ben centered team with a defense that hasn't ranked as low since Noll left. I never thought for a second Tomlin wouldn't be extended. As long as Ben is here Tomlin is safe. Ben covers a multitude of sins... especially on defense.

Ben is great- but I think you may be unfairly discounting two other players.

You know. The only two 1st team All Pro's on our team.

Not discounting anything. Put Brown and Bell with Kordell and this defense and how many wins do you have? Ben is often being discounted because people forget how good he is at what he does.

Too bad Ben didn't cover up a multitude of sins in the playoff loss to the Ravens.

First thing I thought of when I saw the news -- just how half of this board was going to have their head explode. Not as if this was a surprise either....

This is true but it does not disprove my point.

Who gives a **** about what bunghole fans salivate over? Their perspective on failures and successes, is not my (nor most Steeler fans') perspective on failures and successes

The season will obviously show us the value of this extension. In fact if you will the next three seasons will show us the value of being in a division with cincy and cleveland and not having losing seasons. We will embrace 8 and 8 as it is not losing and that shall be the standard. We shall endeavor to persevere while allowing greatness to be snatched from our grasp and we will transition to Laundry Jones as our future star. Not losing is one aspect of the game, however it is not winning. As to the folks in favor of the extension.................Racist.

Well hopefully this means the sportswriters will actually hold his feet to the fire during his PC's instead of their "aw gee shucks cool sunglasses mr tomlin" typical softball questions/approaches

Not only is Mike Tomlin one of the most stable coaches in the league, he’s one of the richest.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, theextension which carries him through the 2018 season is worth at least $7 million a year, which would put him in the top five highest-paid coaches.

Tomlin has a Super Bowl win and four division titles in eight years, with an 82-46 regular season record. While he hasn’t won a playoff game since the 2010 season, he’s clearly valued by a team that values stability.

He’s just the third Steelers coach since 1969, and only five coaches (Bill Belichick, Marvin Lewis, Tom Coughlin, Mike McCarthy and Sean Payton) have been with their current teams longer.

I am not happy with this. Rooney extends his contract after seeing him out coached most sundays. Well, it's roonys money and he can waste it if he wants to.
