Official Free Agency Thread

Sign Kyle jyscheck excellent blocker in i formation cans probably the best catching fb. Heyward as adequate at best leave him for st.
 
It's now almost comical how poorly the Steelers are managing this team. I'm fully expecting to soon hear they are bringing in Joe Namath to see what he has left.

The current Steelers organization would go out and pay cash for a new Ferrari (DK Metcalf) and drive it home only to be stranded along the road because they didn't put any gas in the tank.

and they do not have a driver trained to move high performing Ferrari/WRs down the field.

Now they may be faced with two petulant WR divas wondering wtf after games.
 
They are handcuffed right now waiting on Rodgers not knowing what that will take. Hearing he wants 40-45 million per season on a two year deal which would be a big hit against the cap plus they know Watt will most likely want 40 million a season. That’s a lot of cap hit right there so I wouldn’t expect much more in FA. Probably some very minor signings like they’ve already done.

Nick Chubb is a last resort type of signing. As in, we didn't get anyone in the draft, which is HIGHLY unlikely. I doubt he gets signed anytime soon. His age and injury are all working against him right now. Also, too expensive is not something to describe Chubb. He signed a one year 2.2m contract last year for the Browns.
 
It all gets official at 4 today.. nothing is signed yet and players can change their minds up till its on paper...
AB claims we already have a deal with Rodgers... but it still feels like Rodgers is using the Steelers to get the Giants price down and the steelers are doing tge same to get Wilsons price down...

I just dont think they would have gotten Wilsons favorite receiver via trade and not gotten any of Rodgers preferred guys if they were trying to lure Rodgers in, but who knows

I don't know if any of the numbers being reported are close to accurate. From what I've read today, the hold up isn't about money. What the Steelers can't afford to do is let Rodgers string them along for weeks while he does his Rodgers kind of stuff. I'm in favor of them bringing in Rodgers for the right price on a two year contract, but the team needs to be in charge and not him. Give him an ultimatum of deciding today, then pivot towards Wilson on a two year contract with only one year guaranteed. If Rodgers or Wilson delay, maybe bringing Mason back and drafting a QB, or trading for one will be their fallback plan if Rodgers and Wilson don't sign.

Well, that's gonna put a big dent is FA spending on D, Clown-lins favorite thing to spend $ on. We spend more $ than any team on D but somehow it doesn't equate to best defense performance. How does that go again? I though Clown-lin was a defensive mastermind. Turns out no he isn't. He ain't no Dick Lebeau is he?

Larry O found a new home pretty quick, headed to the Bills, Van Jefferson also found a home with the Titans.

A lot of that is because he's gassed and injured by the end of the year after getting double and triple teamed every game. Tomlin also doesn't know how to do anything but have him rush from the edge. Move the guy around more to at least pretend to run more than one defensive scheme and possibly take advantage of a mismatch.

We'll find out if it was Larry O or the D. I liked the signing when we first got him, even liked the extension. Something happened and we didn't get that same production. As for Van Jefferson, he should cancel out the Gainswell signing, Najee and Harrison should cancel out, so we should still get some decent comp picks for Fields, Moore, and maybe Daniels.
 
Cooper Kupp being released today.

 
Guessing Cooper gets paid in Las Vegas, Seattle, takes a discount in Buffalo, Washington etc. Why would he come to Pittsburgh who doesn’t have a QB and doesn’t pass over the middle to it’s receivers.

Go after kupp with ward as wr coach if UVA’s a smart good locker room guy like kupp it really gives u stability to mentor gp since you have committed a boatload of money to dk already. If a rod cost is still 2 years 90 bring back Russ 2 years 50
 
Sign Kupp, and I would love to see him, GP, and DK on the field together, but to me, this would show even more that trading GP is going to happen if they can get a 3rd for him. The QB they land on would have to throw 40 times a game to get all of these guys the touches they demand or the whining will start before the middle of the season, especially with GP in a contract year.

The problem with that is he would be an unused asset

Mike doesn’t believe in FBs
Didn’t even roster one last year
Before that we had a FB in name only…and only cuz his name was Watt-didn’t use him either

Mike’s genius offensive scheme involves things like running 13 personnel out of the pistol, or trying to run power game out of the pistol behind CA3 blocking and an OL coach that doesn’t teach a power style.

Lots of mismatched parts being pasted together in that feeble mind.

Maybe he keeps failing cuz he’s shocked when other teams bring out more than 2 DL to defense us in short yardage situations???

Sometimes I wonder what he is thinking and seeing out there, but I really don’t wanna know cuz it would likely scare the **** outta me
