That is a quote from Dan Orlovsky of ESPN. This is why people think Tomlin is a great coach. They listen to ESPN, hear idiots like this and just think they know what they're talking about.

Orlovsky watches highlights of the Steelers games, at most. That is such a joke of a comment to make. You don't think Tomlin is to blame for the losses? Sure, that's his opinion but to say he's done a good job coaching is just insane.

Viewing 2021 in isolation, one could almost legitimately claim that the Steelers have overachieved this season based on wins and losses and praise Tomlin for it

However, to do that, one needs to avoid the context of how this franchise has been trending for years now and totally absolve Tomlin from any blame for it.

If you are going to do that, then it only adds further fuel to the fire that Ben hides a LOT of Tomlin's deficiencies. The success we have had this year has largely been a product of Ben running the offense in the second half of games. People have said for YEARS that Ben covers up a lot of the Steelers deficiencies, that appears to still be the case. He just can't do it as regularly and consistently as he once could.

This is exactly what he's doing. You look at the talent the Steelers have on the field vs. their record and it looks miraculous the Steelers are in contention for a playoff spot as opposed to a top 5 pick. Watch the games this season and there are a legit 5-6 games that are some of the worst football games you've seen from the Steelers over the past 30+ years.

We laugh about the "never had a losing season' cliche, but others hold that as a great accomplishment and on the surface, it is. Do they dig deeper into his playoff record, record against supbar opponents, underachievements, etc?
No because to most clubs what he has accomplished is remarkable.

Take away 08 and Tomlin is a lesser version of marty shottenheimer

I don't care what any of you say about Dan Orlovsky ............ the man is an absolute ******* genius

He spent years in the NFL getting a steady paycheck ....... while comprising 15 TDs to 13 INTs over all those years combined.

Then he gets to shoot his mouth off on national TV ......... commenting on the fooseball while collecting yet another paycheck

We are all mere mortals that stand in the shadows of this all knowing, all telling wonderboy

Is he the guys who’s son worked for the Steelers?

Its not only him. Most of the football world believes Tomlin is a shoo- in for the HOF.

Never heard of him.

I had to look up how to spell Olsavsky just to be sure this thread wasn't somehow related to him...

Marty, Marvin ... a litany of coaches kept longer than their accomplishments would merit. At this point, we are the old Bengals and the only difference between us and the not too far back Browns is they fired their crap litany of coaches quickly. It is sad and scary for a team that was a model franchise for so long. Even scarier is that the team owners just don't see it. I am not even crapping on Tomlin. Both Tomlin AND the Steelers need to seek different pastures and start over.

Anyone who thinks Mike Tomlin coached well is a ****** idiot. Watch Devin Bush's season. Watch the I game calls. Like **** off.

surprised Bush hasn't surfaced on social media saying .......see it is not me ........ no one is playing up to their potential on the Steelers

How anyone can take what Dan Orlovsky has to say as gospel, or some true final word, is beyond me. This is the same jackass who, willingly, ran out of his own end zone after receiving a snap, and then thinking he was OK to continue on with the play. Go YouTube it. That play summed up what the Detroit Lions organization is. Frankly, to me at least, it’s as bad as having Matt Millen on your broadcast, claiming that he’s some kind of “guru,” or that he even knows what he’s talking about. Yet, people eat his **** up. Also, his show mate is Ryan Clark, and it is a bit comical to me watch him talk about how soft the team is, how selfish, and undisciplined they are, and how the Steeler Way is no more, and than proceed to absolve Tomlin of all blame. **** the both of them…….what I would love to hear/know, is what is really running through Bill Cowher’s mind when they go to the crew at halftime. I’d love to know what he really thinks.

I thought he did well as anyone could with the Duck/Mason season. Other than that I think the past 2 seasons were more valley than peaks. There’s a fine line between drinking wine and squashing grapes. Tomlin doesn’t even have them in the vineyard picking grapes

So did four games a year against the Browns and Bengals until they both got good last year. Now we see where we stand.

I'd take Marty in a heartbeat. Marty built teams, even though they fell short of the Super Bowl. Tomlin never built ****.

This is why Tomlin will have his job for at least 5 more years unless he decides to walk away. I'll just leave my comments at that.

Me too, it will add the 5.4 years of life back into me from when I lost it a couple games ago....................

Salute the nation

Is that the same guy who made the BAT in the movie "the Natural" ?

Stick to football,......... Orlovsky did and look where that got him...............................

The run defense was actually much better without Bush in there (didn't surprise me), and was quite possibly the only bright spot for Pittsburgh in the game other than the punter. KC gained only 3.6 yards per carry, nearly a yard-and-a-half less than the Steelers' season average in that category.
