God Bless Marty Schottenheimer. That guy built a winner anywhere he went. Too bad he never had the QB to take him over the top.
I don’t know how technical you want to get, but Ben was 7-8 in 2006 and 0-2 in 2019.Ben hasnt either.
Bucs traded multiple 1s for Gruden if I remember right. If Tomlin is so good lets just see. After the season when Roethlisberger retires lets see who is willing to trade for him. I mean a coach of his talents should easily get us 1 if not multiple first round picks. Win win for everyone. We get picks to build and Tomlin gets to move on to greener pastures!
I will bet anyone a crispy new $100 we don’t get a single first round pick offer and another $100 we don’t get offered anything for him.
Also, his show mate is Ryan Clark, and it is a bit comical to me watch him talk about how soft the team is, how selfish, and undisciplined they are, and how the Steeler Way is no more, and than proceed to absolve Tomlin of all blame.
I'd take Marty in a heartbeat. Marty built teams, even though they fell short of the Super Bowl. Tomlin never built ****.
That is likely. What is more likely is his content with the franchise's value, which has risen from the paltry $820M he inherited it to the $3.4B as it stands today - a tidy 4-bagger. To all investors, Arty will remain a fixture at the helm as long as he is above room temperature. In that rarefied air, 'fan discontent' is moot as long as the TV revs flow and to a lesser extent, regalia sells. The head coach? HCMT ticks all the currently relevant boxes.
Mods, please merge this thread with the 'who you want to be head coach' thread so I can make the obvious quip - 'Martha Stewart'. N' make Snoop the GM.
Tomlin's teams are microwaved butter and Tomlin's role is to preen on the sidelines when the Steelers manage a late field goal to beat some ****** 2-11 team in week 14 and look like a "special needs" kid given a calculus final in every other game.
And some wonder why members of the team act the way they do....or blow a kiss into the camera, like Tomlin did at the end of the Titans game.
Most mature coach ever.

I took that kiss personally. It was like Tomlin was telling me to **** off - I'm not going anywhere....or blow a kiss into the camera, like Tomlin did at the end of the Titans game.

Unfortunately he isn't![]()
Marty was like cowher… only more conservative… he was a super conservative guy who built a very physical and talented team but couldn’t adjust to teams that were as good or better than him and had any strategy at all… its why he isn’t in the hall and probably wont be despite having like 200 regular season wins and coaching for 21 years… he had a grand total of 5 playoff wins…I'd take Marty in a heartbeat. Marty built teams, even though they fell short of the Super Bowl. Tomlin never built ****.
Marvin lewis was a completely different scenario… he was kneecapped by the owner… the guy was a brilliant defensive mind… mike brown was why thevteam loaded up with cheaper character issues, and honestly Lewis had tgem under control till ochodumbass took a swing at him at halftime of our playoff game and mike brown backed him not getting cut or punished over what lewis wantedIt's sad to me to think we are now the Bengals from about 10 years ago. We're in Marvin Lewis territory. Art Rooney is looking more and more like Mike Brown.
Almost all the actions over the last decade are the same. We've even had our share of criminals/knuckleheads/bad locker room vibe. Rooney doesn't fire anyone that doesn't have a contract up (just like Mike Brown).
I remember the pundits claiming Marvin Lewis "exceeded" expectations too. He got to the playoffs a few times and had "bad luck" or "injuries" derail his seasons. All the same excuses. All the same write-ups.
EVENTUALLY, Rooney will fire Tomlin, just like eventually Marvin Lewis left Cincinnati. It's just going to take about 5-10 years too long.
Marty had shortcomings but it's miles ahead of what we have now. Even though he didn't win many playoff games I always thought his teams were dangerous. There hasn't been anything dangerous about the Steelers in quite some time.Marty was like cowher… only more conservative… he was a super conservative guy who built a very physical and talented team but couldn’t adjust to teams that were as good or better than him and had any strategy at all… its why he isn’t in the hall and probably wont be despite having like 200 regular season wins and coaching for 21 years… he had a grand total of 5 playoff wins…
Lol,how true. While I don’t dislike Romo as much as some,I laugh when he criticizes QB play. Nobody threw more boneheaded int in big games than Romo. He choked nonstop. Farve did as well. How anyone can take what Dan Orlovsky has to say as gospel, or some true final word, is beyond me. This is the same jackass who, willingly, ran out of his own end zone after receiving a snap, and then thinking he was OK to continue on with the play. Go YouTube it. That play summed up what the Detroit Lions organization is. Frankly, to me at least, it’s as bad as having Matt Millen on your broadcast, claiming that he’s some kind of “guru,” or that he even knows what he’s talking about. Yet, people eat his **** up. Also, his show mate is Ryan Clark, and it is a bit comical to me watch him talk about how soft the team is, how selfish, and undisciplined they are, and how the Steeler Way is no more, and than proceed to absolve Tomlin of all blame. **** the both of them…….what I would love to hear/know, is what is really running through Bill Cowher’s mind when they go to the crew at halftime. I’d love to know what he really thinks.
I prefer to kick someone upstairs that is actually good at evaluating talent. We have to put up with the Mike Tomlins now because the nfl fukd over guys like Lionel Taylor. taylor was really first black coordinator in nfl, right in Pittsburgh. they didn’t call the coaches that back then but before him, the Steelers had the makings of the greatest defense to ever take the field and little else. noll himself admitted he did nothing for Bradshaw outside of drafting him, it was Taylor that made Swann, Bradshaw, and Stallworth into HOFers. He left to go to the rams and in one year had a career backup quarterback in a position to beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl! Never got a HC coach job interview in nfl but finally got a shot in Europe. We all at some point suffer the sins of our fathers lol but its time for a change in Pittsburgh. kick Tomlin upstairs! PLZ! I can’t listen to one more of his press conferences ill go crazier than him!
And the nfl shows ATE IT THE **** UP! I watched Good Morning Football after thag game, and every single one of those mother ******* were like “does anyone have more style than Mike Tomlin?”, or “wow, look at the bravado of Tomlin!” The SOB should’ve been criticized for doing something stupid like that because he had a player, only a week prior, cost his team for showboating. Nah, I’d rather Tomlin shove a picture in the refs face/pocket showing that Haden/Fitzpatrick weren’t offsides on the blocked field goal returned for a td instead of this “look-at-me” jagoff who blew a kiss because one his players made a terrific tackle....or blow a kiss into the camera, like Tomlin did at the end of the Titans game.
Most mature coach ever.
It's the only team in the NFL that continually has the same exact issues on offense week after week and year after year.Im necroing an old thread ratherthan starting another one to criticize HCMT… but here we are years later saying the same ****
Screw Canada Austin and Bubbles.. Move on from Mikey and the rest will fix itself
