And here are the names before that, going back to 1995

Chris Simms 2003
Coy Wire 2002
Anthony Henry 2001
Curtis Keaton 2000
John Welbourn 1999
Fred Weary 1998
Damon Denson 1997
Hunter Goodwin 1996
Troy Dumas 1995

It would appear indeed that the pick is a ******* lock. If we don't get an every ******* down player and a hall of fame guy out of this thing, someone should be fired.

I don't know what's sadder.

The fact that you feel a torn ACL has proven Archer is better than Abbrederis, or the fact that you have a Google Document to preserve my football projections. Or the fact that you give a **** at all about them. I certainly wouldn't care about yours, were you to ever make any.

"Mommy, Mommy, please make the Boogie Man go away!!!"

You opened the door, mate - deal with it...

More from the Ultra-Christian E-Bully, trolling for karma.

Nope, he pretty much sees this for what it is and is calling it as it is. Not sure what you're all up in arms and defensive about. I think this is a great idea for a a thread.

Example: We now have analysis of every 3rd round pick dating back 14 years or so. Gold.

And I like the idea of forcing people to own up to their claims. It's like fantasy football. By week 10 in fantasy, I'm always saying "What an *** I am, why didn't I pick XX? That was soooo obvious." Yet to play the game, you have to draft BEFORE the season. It's real easy to draft a fantasy team in November, looking in the rear view mirror.

This keeps all the GREAT and INCREDIBLE arm-chair GMs here who are so MUCH smarter than anyone else on record. Love it.

1. It's not like fantasy football at all. There, you're a team owner and you run the team you own. Here, we're just offering opinions based on whatever criteria we deem important and the bits of information we have. I own a fantasy team, but do not own the Steelers. Some of you seem to think that the posters on here are claiming to be professional GMs or scouts or what have you; I've never seen that.

2. Why in God's name do you care if Idioteque, Vader, TMC, or anyone is right about a draft pick?! Or "owns up to it"? Or doesn't? The amount of time, attention, and emotional investment some of you put into keeping these anonymous stranger football fans accountable for their years-old opinions is sad, at best.

Because your nose is lodged in my lower intestine. Which doesn't strike me as Christian

Care to explain? I cannot nor will I ever care to put my nostrils in your anal cavity...

This thread is for football-related topics - like, "I think THESE ten (10) players will be better than the player selected in the third round as a COMPENSENTORY PICK"...

No, it's not. The "list" was mine.

Consular, did you - or did you not, share this "list" with the court as evidence??? Or was this an act of maleficence against you and your computer network??? Perhaps a hacker of sorts "stole" the "list" from you and posted it here???

Help me - no, help us, understand...

Uh, because every ******* draft we listen to them tell us who the Steelers SHOULD have taken. If, but some shot in the dark, the prediction is right, we hear about for the next 5 years. If it's wrong, they just never mention it again, and move on. I get very tired of hearing several years down the road "I said we should have drafted so and so, but nooooo, we picked this guy". So, I thought I'd take down some of the wisdom that was here, and see how it held up given the test of time.

You are aware, that's what you'd need to do if you were in the draft room, right? You'd be on record with your picks, and there would be some ******** on a bb going on for years about every single miss you had. You wouldn't be able to just shut the **** up about all the picks you got wrong. So, ya come here claiming to know better what we should have done, I think you should post it.

As a matter of fact, I'd suggest next year, we have a nice draft link here, round by round where people can either come in and say "yes, good pick" or "No, I'd have taken guy x in this round". That way, we can know, if YOU were in the Steelers draft room, what your team would have looked like.

I'm sure most won't participate, it's a lot easier just to sit here and say our pick sucked, wait a few years, and if he does suck, you've got hindsight to tell us all the people we should have taken. If he doesn't suck, you get to say "oops, I was wrong" and that's the end of it. Unlike the actual GM.

Yes, yes it was. It's because you were all sopping and moaning in the Archer thread that "we'll wish we'd have taken 10 other players instead of him". So I thought, hmmm, I wonder if he'll name 10, and to your credit, you did, though I was a bit shocked at how annoyed you were anyone would want to keep that little list and refer to it later. I guess it's hard to look like you're always right, when maybe someone pays attention.

Could you have further misconstrued the point? SteelerNation is full of "I Told You So" Experts, believing themselves smarter than the rest, who after the fact tell you they knew what we should have done and our GMs are stupid. So yes, that is like Fantasy Football, in the sense that that crowd here at SN and those who play fantasy are all infinitely smarter - after the fact.

Who said I care if anyone is right about a draft pick? I didn't. I'm saying people should make claims up front, not in hindsight. I said I like the idea of forcing people to own up to their claims. Saying now "I knew we should have picked BoZo Jones over Dri Archer" is easy to do, when a) said person didn't share this notion prior to the draft with anyone or b) forgets what he/she wanted/projected at the time.

Ditto this. Too many people like to point out when they were right but are all too quick to forget ALL the times they are wrong.

This is exactly what I'm tired of as well. It's easy to say without a doubt we should have taken one guy over another, when in fact guy number one has washed out of the nfl, and guy number two is on to his 2nd pro bowl. Want I want to know is were you sitting here, on draft day, saying we should have taken that guy. Cause if you were, then I think you deserve some credit. If you weren't, well, you're not a draft guru, you're good at reading sports articles and hindsight. Two fairly un-remarkable talents.

Joe

to give hypocriteque some credit, he was calling for us to draft Jordy Nelson in the 2008 Draft. Although the Packers took him at #36, the fact remains that hypocriteque did want us to take him in the 2nd round and most definitely in the 3rd round, saying he would be a quality NFL WR.

But, other than Mendenhall, that draft was a complete and total fuckup for us.

While we are remembering prognostications, I do recall a certain draft guru poster (Del, who isn't afraid to suggest that he might be superior to Colbert) suggesting that trading Ben to the Texans for the #1 draft choice in 2014 and selecting Teddy Bridgewater was worth considering.

And I wish I could remember what he said recently about drafting Le'veon Bell...something like it was the most "forced" pick of the Tomlin era.

Oh, there were a LOT of people out there talking about trading Ben for SAM ******* BRADFORD the year of his "scandal". Not many would admit to it now.

Yes, let's start a war on people who actually state an opinion on a message board. If they are wrong, we won't ever let them forget it. Rub it in their faces. That should really make this board fun to read as most people will only parrot the conventional wisdom.

here, let me give the analysis of every draft from now until 2050.

That first rounder is a stud. He's a first round pick and they are always great.
The second rounder was a great value. He's awesome too but just needs a little coaching.
Third - flashes first round ability but is inconsistent. Great prospect.
4th- insert ESPN draft expert opinion here.
5th-7th - it's always a crapshoot late in the draft. The coaches must like these guys and they know more than you so i will agree with them that all these guys are great.

You better not question the coaches. They are allowed to be wrong on draft picks, but a message board poster is held to a higher standard.

seriously, **** this thread.

we need more people stating opinions, not fewer. Just because certain people are too ***** to state an original thought, doesn't mean we should bash those who actually have an opinion.

not just this board, but the whole country is going down this rabbit hole of restricting opinions they don't agree with. There is a single politically correct opinion that is acceptable on any topic and if you dare deviate from that, you will be bullied into submission.

now we're bringing this Newspeak into sports conversations? (Google Newspeak if you ar unfamiliar, i guess he was only off by 30 years)

record what you want and i'll keep posting my opinion. At least i have the balls to state an opinion at the risk of GASP, being wrong on the internet.
