Penguins 23-24

I think they’re tanking.
They’re probably doing just enough to show ownership they can play then tank away in the final.

I don’t see Sullivan surviving the offseason either

I'm pretty sure of it on the tanking part. That 4-0 lead turns into a 5-4 OT loss.

That seems to be the theme. That's unless they flat out lose early on.

It's giving the perception of a legit game.

Not sure if they tanked it or just ran out of gas.

He shouldn't have survived the all-star break. Love the guy, but his day is over here.

They’re not tanking. They just aren’t any good. Time to accept that reality.

From the sound of Dubas’ interviews. It seems like he gave this current group a season to make a push.

The core 3 are remaining. The next move I can see him making is canning Sullivan. The team is going to have cap room to get some younger guys playing time. I’m expecting a complete overhaul on the bottom 6

On top of all that, our team is managed by a guy named Kyle.

Will we hear FIRE DUBAS chants at PPG these last few games?

Hextall is probably laughing his *** off somewhere right now.

They aren't tanking, they are nowhere near being good enough to compete at an elite level anymore.

The Ave's just said ok enough of this BS and ran them over yesterday. Gone are the days when the Pens could do that.

And Letang got burnt like toast again in OT yesterday.

This deal is over. The sooner they can figure out how to dump the dead weight and start rebuilding the better off everyone will be.

The Pens are projected to be $12million under cap. That’s at least a couple of entry level players aka youth.

Dump Carter since his contract expires which is another entrty level contract aka youth.

Give Poulin, Zahorna chances to shine.

As of right now the Pens are a top 10 draft pick. Start drafting nhl ready kids.

Franchises have to experience losing seasons at some point to get better results for their future generations.

I’m looking at the LA Kings blueprint on rebuilding around their aging core. If they can do it. So can the Pens.

I'm not sure about Zahorna. With his size I thought he could be a force to be reckoned with but he's a big teddy bear out there. Maybe someone can inject some grit into his bloodstream.

The Penguins are at an impasse of sorts, and tough decisions need to be made. Outside of the aging players, you have Hextall botching up personnel and contracts horrifically and the players don't match the style of play that you're Stanly cup champion head coach loves to run. So, you either fire the coach and bring in a magician to figure out how to build an offense with this lot or you start throwing rats off the ship and bring in a roster that will start competing. The later is difficult to do as some of these contracts aren't cap friendly and they don't have the space to carry dead weight.

I love Letang, but age has caught up with him. When your best stat is leading the team in penalty minutes, things need to change. Speaking of penalty minutes, second place in this category...Geno is scoring 50 points in a season, not good enough. Sid scoring 73 at his age is great, but we need to bring in someone who can keep pace with him or out pace him.

hard to watch this team.

Without a couple of those rotten contracts, the Pens could have kept Guentzel. Gonna suck when he rolls into Pittsburgh and helps the Canes spank Sid and Co.

Josh Yohe of the Atlantic is reporting Guentzel’s asking price was $10 million AAV. Is he worth that?

Really mixed feelings on this. My first inclination is to say no. He seems like a great Robin, but not a great Batman. I just don't know.

He's a heck of a player during the season but when games got rough back in the playoff days, he was getting pushed around pretty good. I'd like to have seen more of a return in that trade but it's better than nothing which is what they would have gotten just after the regular season was over. Jake or no Jake, this team was not going to make a surprise run.

If a trade wasn't made, people would be pissed that a Pittsburgh team let another star go for nothing, just like with Bonds and Bonilla way back in the day. It's a catch 22.

Who knows, maybe he'll resign for less after testing the waters.

No Jake is not worth that. Given the Penguins current state. Gotta start giving the nod to entry level contracts.

$10 million is easily two players at entry level you can take a chance on.

If he does decide to take a cut after testing the market. I’ll welcome him back. But I am pretty optimistic in the way this offseason has the potential to shape up

Pens are back to lookin lame...

Great PPG goal Geno! What a fn laser shot
