Penguins *******!

I am sorry but Beau Bennett ******* sucks. That guy makes one bad decision after another

Have you watched Kunitz play?

You give Kunitz a pass even though he misses yet again another open net playing on the 1st line. 1 goal in the last 25 games and yet he never gets benched.

Sid coulda had 5 more assists if anybody can handle a pass and hit the ******* net. Nah - he don't need a winger, 10 more Lovejoys is what this team needs right?

p.s. Despres gets an assist on the OT game winning goal AGAIN with the Ducks - against Boston.

refreshing to see Despres out on the ice in OT with Fowler, Getzlaf, and Perry.

My criticism of Bennett in no way excuses any other player for terrible performances. The list of Pens players that suck right now is pretty long. Bennett is at or near the top of that list. Unfortunately, I can't bench Kunitz. You'll have to take that up with the coaching staff.

And who said anything about Lovejoy? Pretty sure I was against that deal.

I can't even watch the games anymore...If I wanted to see a group of lazy ******** not wanting to do thier ******* jobs I'd tune into CSPAN.

Watched it through 2, Pens down 4-1.....did anyone fight in the 3rd? If not it's further proof that they're just going through the motions.

sorry - you picking out Beau as the problem with the team sounds just like the Pens mgmt that trades away young talent for old washed up vets - I lashed out in my
post-Despres depression

Sadly I think Bennett is a guy that won't maximize his potential either until he's elsewhere and gets more than 9 minutes of ice time a game to build his confidence.

So Sid made some great passes, and nobody scored. The story of this team right now. It's amazing he's still leading the league in points.

Perron is not a good fit for his line either. No Geno and no Hornqvist make the offense very average.

This team is lifeless right now. Only players on the ice who look like they have any desire are Crosby, Winnik, Downie and Letang. Have been saying that for some time now.
.

I'll stick with the Wild. Two games this weekend, Wild host a desperate Calgary team, one point out of a WC spot tonight and on Saturday night the Kings come in for a visit. Welcome to the State of Hockey.

If the Pens were a turd they'd be cloggin up the bowl.

In other news: A Women's professional hockey league is forming and will begin play in October. Not the CWHL but a league of paid players. Hope for the pens yet?

DK has some interesting stuff on the Pens........

Friday Insider:

There’s absolutely nothing to be said at this stage about Mike Johnston’s future. Everything about these Penguins, as has been true from the outset, will be weighed after playoffs.

• If not for the cap crunch that forced the Penguins to embarrassingly play a man short last night, more than one forward from Wilkes-Barre would already be up. Don’t underestimate the cap effect on the current roster, I’ve been told. At the same time, don’t underestimate what could happen when the cap is no longer in effect for the playoffs.

• There is ample discussion in the locker room — not complaining, mind you, at least not yet — that the Penguins’ five-on-five offense is as scripted as any in the NHL. This is true. Johnston regularly runs drills focused on highly specific situations in the attacking zone. Generally, hockey coaches allow offense to be created, albeit within parameters.

• Johnston’s continued support of Chris Kunitz shouldn’t be misconstrued as anything other than what it appears, I’m told. The coach isn’t being influenced on this count at all. In fact, there’s a very good chance the head coach is getting increasingly isolated.

Oh most definitely scripted. Just wish that script hadn't been mailed to the rest of the league. They can hardly even enter the o zone, let alone set up a cycle or forechecking effort.

or maybe we don't have enough creative forwards to play anything less than a scripted game to keep the defense in the game

we know what happens when they are off the leash and go all pond hockey

At this point, I'm rooting for Jagr and the Panthers to sneak in while the Pens grab their golf clubs. How embarrassing would that be for them?

Pens are 9 pts up on them with 8 games to go - no, won't happen...even though I wanted Jagr - he has a little juice left

They could fall to a WC though - that means the Rangers - or the habs?

I know it looks and sounds impossible. But here's some things to consider. Both teams actually have 8 games left and here's the records for each over their last 8 games:

Pens: 2-5-1
Panthers: 5-3 and those 3 losses were to the Rangers, Canadiens and Lightning.

If the Pens' slide continues, what may save them is that the Wings and Isles are also struggling.

watched the game. Crosby was pretty much invisible. This team is leaderless. Crosby is no leader. Coaching is poor. Execution is poor. Effort is ok. Leadership is invisible.

yeah - sorry 8 games left - I only looked at Apr

I don't get the "wanting them embarassed" **** I keep hearing

that's ******* spoiled brat loser talk and Ill have none of it

The team has been up and down all year. Not sure what the problem is. Even when they are healthy they can look like crap. They seemed to make a lot of moves again at the trade deadline and the team seems to be playing worse since the trades. My guess is they will be lucky to make it past the 1st round of the playoffs and that is a shame.

I don't want them to be embarrassed, but if something kind of drastic like that were to happen I would hope somebody in the organization would be embarrassed enough by it to do something about it.

Did you see the post-game interview?

"We can't come out with that kind of effort against a non playoff team". Its small but you can tell he's annoyed... I actually think he needs to do more of that.

I don't think missing the playoffs would even do much. They will blame it on injuries to Geno, Horny and Ehrhoff, as well as Dupuis and Maatta. For any real veteran roster changes..you should need as full of a healthy team as possible to flame out in the playoffs with Adams, Kunitz and Scuds playing really bad - then they might take notice.

Pretty sure that's part of it. I don't necessarily dislike a scripted O....just change the **** up once in awhile....their zone entries and forecheck have been horrid.

Not exactly strongly worded....annoyed? He needs to get pissed.

Turned the game off when it went to 4-1. He needs to get pissed in the locker room between periods, not when the game is over. The body language of that team was bad but when they gave up the 4th goal you could tell they just mailed it in

I'm in town for a few days and got tickets for Saturday's game. First time for me at consol. Too bad I'm not more optimistic

I'm wearing my Penguins jersey

for luck against the mighty Yotes

trade deadline is over

we are where we are

unless they flood the ice with rookies when the post-season rosters expand

I'll be taking bets on that

Coach Johnston confirms that Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist will both be in the lineup today.
